I love these monthly wrap-up/reading blogs! It's such a unique and interesting way to talk about books you've read this month. Looking forward to March. :)
These are legit my favourite videos from you Helene ♥️ I admire your ability to put down books you're not enjoying, I'm not quite there yet but I'm hoping this is the year for it! So glad you loved In Order to Live, it was so horrifying but important.
i really really love these videos. I am in a huge reading slump for over a year and watching you talk about reading and seeing your routine just makes me love reading. I'm still in a slump but I love listening to you, it makes me feel cozy seeing you read and hearing you talk about books. and wow the passage has such a different cover then here! crazy.
My favorite vlog ever! Maybe instead of donating your unwanted books, (which by the way is a wonderful idea) maybe have a contest for your fans and the winner gets your books. I know I would love to have a couple of books from off your bookshelf.
Thank you, Helene, for sharing your reading experiences with your viewers. What a pleasure to see what you're reading and to get your comments----and to see Zeus!----I've done some un-hauling too. I had a number of F. Scott Fitzgerald books: letters, essays, biography but there were/are too many books in my place and some had to go. Because of the problems in Fitzgerald's life I decided this was more sad/negative material than I wanted to deal with at the time so I donated most of them to the public library for their "Friends of the Library" sale.
Helene, I enjoyed your vlog, as always, and love that you share Zeus with us. He is so precious. Saw The Passage at a thrift store yesterday but couldn't decide if I should buy it or not. Hearing that you enjoyed it, I will probably go back and buy it. Have a good reading month and looking forward to your next vlog!
YEEEEESSSSSS uhaul the books you no longer want! I personally like unhauling books that i have read and no longer want or books that i dont want to read that have been on my tbr for the longest time is so therapeutic. It gives room for more books to become apart of my book family and i love it~
Glad to see someone else who reads while cooking! 😂 Also, our tastes continue to be very similar: I DNF'd "La Rose" and have been underwhelmed by Ali Smith. You have also inspired me to unhaul some books. Happy reading! 😊❤️📚
I love that you like all the same books I do! I read Lonesome Dove in January, and it had such an impact on me! I think it's one of the best books I've ever read. Since then I've read 3 more Larry McMurtry books, which have all also been amazing. For anyone who wants to start with a shorter one of his, I would recommend The Last Picture Show which is also brilliant.
Helene, I never understood why The Paying Guests receive lukewarm reviews, I absolutely loved it. Victorian, thrilling, well written, dark. I think it was likely compared to her classics which I haven’t read yet. I still want to read Fingersmith and Tipping the Velvet which I heard are awesome. I hope you decide to read “Paying” and let us know what you think.
UA-cam Günlüğüm Hygge is how I discovered Helene and booktube! I was searching “hygge” here on UA-cam, and she came up. That was in December. I have been hooked ever since! She actually did a video on The Little Book of Hygge to see how her Danish life compared. You should check it out!
I just finished The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters. It took me a few months. I should have DNFd it. It started out strong, but dragged for long sections of the book. At about 250 pages in, lost interest. I admire your ability to put a book down! There are too many great books waiting to be read :)!
Loved the Passage and Woman in the Window. I also didn’t finish Paying Guests as I wasn’t enjoying it. Have you read a Little Stranger by Sarah Waters? That was terrific.
I think its wonderful that you are at a point where you can put a book down when you notice that you are no longer enjoying it! I would love if i would get to that point someday, since i just can not do that no matter how much i wish i could! Wonderful video as always, thank you for sharing :)
Lovely vlog! I'm half way through Turtles All the Way Down..but I just can't pick it up. I startted reading it in December. I don't think I'll ever be in a mood for that kind of book. I can't remember if you already read To the Bright Edge of the World by Eowyn Ivey..I'm currently reading it. Over half way through and VERY much loving it! My edition is 555 pages long but it is such a quick read because of the pictures and shorter log/jounal entries. I wish this book would continue forever!
Peony I have To The Bright Edge of the World and I’ve been thinking of picking it up soon! Thanks for reminding me - now I’m even more excited to read it 😃
Oh Helene! I have been waiting months for you to remark on Lonesome Dove. We have the same cover and just seeing made me tear up. That book has my heart. Well, part of it. The other half belongs to Steinbeck. And King. And McCarthy. And Stegner....I must have a big heart. 😂
Can you do a video on how you find time to read?? You seem to blow through books and my unfinished pile is crazy. I get excited, I start a book and then I start doing something else not that they aren’t good books or intriguing, I just get distracted.
Hello, could you please tell me where you ordered those editions of john steinbeck's novels? I've been trying to buy those most recent penguin editions, but nowhere online in the uk seems to offer them.
I love your “Reading Vlog”. For unexplaied reason, it’s soothing me :) Thank you Helene.
plusnueng I was thinking the exact same thing.
I know it! I love how she shares her day and her beautiful cat too.

I need to know what nail polish you are wearing. Luv.

Thanks! They're from bookdepository.com :)
