There is only one problem, this speaker has simply not expounded the text.
Yes, He has appealed to certain aspects of the broader context. But he has falsified the clear narrative of the text. His interpretation is simply not grammatical. It ignores the series of aorist indicatives (I.e. statements of past real a tusk facts) laid out clearly in the original Greek text.
He has also also violated “the analogy of the faith” (The Rule in Romans 12:6 that holds all exposition to conform to the clear texts rest of Scripture). As Scripture everywhere teaches that there is a danger of falling away, any exposition of Hebrews 6:4-6 should be in full harmony with the rest of Scripture in this issue.
This passage teaches that many believers who were truly recipients of life and salvation and the Holy Spirit, also fell away.
The “impossibility” described in Hebrews 6:4 is not drawn by the original author from a direct quote of Scripture. Rather the author has derived this conclusion from a number of Old Testament Exemplar passages, (very consistently with the style of the author to the Hebrews).
This is a very serious warning passage in the original Greek . Very real , born again Christians very absolutely fell away into a hardened state of unbelief in the narrative. The use of 5 repeated indicatives couldn’t make this plainer!
The good news for English readers is that the “impossibility” is relative. Let me show this:
The Writer uses a word for “fall away” that simply doesn’t exist in the New Testament. BUT ... it does occur in the Septuagint (the LXX) in PRECISELY this context , of “Falling Away” in Ezekiel 18:24. And you should know that the book of Hebrews draws HEAVILY on the LXX in its quotes. The writer had Ezekiel 18:24 in mind when he wrote this passage.
Moreover, the writer uses a word for “renew again” that is used twice in the LXX for PRECISELY this problem of “Falling AWAY”. Once for king David in Psalm 51, and once at the end of Lamentations chapter 5, where Jeremiah prays for renewing again of the people only to lament of being rejected.
      The point is this:
Lamentations deals with the Captivity of Judah. 2 Chronicles 36:16 had described THE EXACT same event and summarised it saying:
“They despised God’s Messengers... UNTIL THERE WAS NO REMEDY”.
And so we see It was IMPOSSIBLE TO RENEW them to repentance...
Similarly , Zechariah 7:12 spoke of the EXACT SAME EVENT also , saying “They made their heart as an ADAMANT STONE” lest they should hear the law and the prophets “therefore a great wrath came upon them”
So we perceive IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO RENEW them unto repentance.
This impossibility is relative. God uses the Law and the Gospel, that is “Moses and the Prophets”. If we will not hear the Law and the Gospel it is impossible to renew us to repentance.
The rich man in hell wanted Lazarus to go back to warn his brothers. But Abraham said “they have Moses and the prophets. Let them hear them. Of they hear not Moses and the prophets , neither will they be persuaded if one rose from the dead .”
It is impossible Bring such to repentance.
And in the Greek text these who fell away were crucifying the Som of God in the present ongoing tense. They refused to hear the Law and therefore could not benefit from the Gospel.
People can fall away. And people can become so hardened that they cannot repent

      John 8:11:
      11“No one, Lord,” she answered.
“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Now go and sin no more.”
      John 8:21:
21Again He said to them, “I am going away, and you will look for Me, but you will die in your sin. Where I am going, you cannot come.”
      John 8:34:
34Jesus replied, “Truly, truly, I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. 35A slave is not a permanent member of the family, but a son belongs to it forever. 36So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
      John 8:49-51:
49“I do not have a demon,” Jesus replied, “but I honor My Father, and you dishonor Me. 50I do not seek My own glory. There is One who seeks it, and He is the Judge. 51Truly, truly, I tell you, if anyone keeps My word, he will never see death.”
      John 12:48:
48There is a judge for the one who rejects Me and does not receive My words: The word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day.
      Luke 13:1-5:
1At that time some of those present told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. 2To this He replied, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered this fate? 3No, I tell you. But unless you repent, you too will all perish. 4Or those eighteen who were killed when the tower of Siloam collapsed on them: Do you think that they were more sinful than all the others living in Jerusalem? 5No, I tell you. But unless you repent, you too will all perish.”
      Matthew 5:27-32:
27You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’ 28But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to depart into hell.
31It has also been said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.’ 32But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, brings adultery upon her. And he who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
      Acts 17:30-31:
30Although God overlooked the ignorance of earlier times, He now commands all people everywhere to repent. 31For He has set a day when He will judge the world with justice by the Man He has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising Him from the dead.”
      Acts 26:20:
20But declared first to those in Damascus, then in Jerusalem and throughout all the region of Judea, and also to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, performing deeds in keeping with their repentance.
      Romans 7:4-6:
4Therefore, my brothers, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit to God. 5For when we lived according to the flesh, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in our bodies, bearing fruit for death. 6But now, having died to what bound us, we have been released from the law, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.
      1 Corinthians 9:24-27:
24Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way as to take the prize. 25Everyone who competes in the games trains with strict discipline. They do it for a crown that is perishable, but we do it for a crown that is imperishable. 26Therefore I do not run aimlessly; I do not fight like I am beating the air. 27No, I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.
      2 Corinthians 7:8-10:
8Even if I caused you sorrow by my letter, I do not regret it. Although I did regret it, I now see that my letter caused you sorrow, but only for a short time. 9And now I rejoice, not because you were made sorrowful, but because your sorrow led you to repentance. For you felt the sorrow that God had intended, and so were not harmed in any way by us. 10Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation without regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.
      James 5:19-21:
19My brothers, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring him back, 20consider this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and cover over a multitude of sins.
      Revelation 2:5:
5Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.
      Revelation 3:3:
3Remember, then, what you received and heard. Keep it, and repent. If you will not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come against you.

We know how important to stay within context when interpreting bible verses, more so with this text. The entire book of Hebrews must be understood to get a complete understanding of this one truth. The book is a contrast of law and grace, the earthly priesthood and Christ as high priest. The sprinkling of the blood of animal sacrifice and the all sufficient saving blood of Jesus. Many of the believer's during this time began doubting salvation by grace and were turning back or "falling away" from the faith and returning to legalism. The writer was simply reminding them there is no repentance in the law, it being a poor schoolmaster and unable to save one. Did they actually want to go back to that, the writer is asking, when one can have the assurance of eternal life through faith in Jesus alone? There are a few passages like this one that proponents use to "prove" their position on this subject, but the Christian has hundreds of passages that refute that claim.

Take Nehemiah 8:8 for a reference: "They read in the book in the law of God DISTINCTLY and gave the SENSE, and caused them to UNDERSTAND the reading". There are three distinct elements here. The first of which, is reading distinctly from the Word of God. It is impossible to READ DISTINCTLY, unless we pay close attention to the actual grammar of the original language of Scripture and not merely our various differing translations. Remember the teachers in the book of Nehemiah were Jews and the read from the original language of Scripture. And so must we IF WE ARE TO READ DISTINCTLY. Let's highlight this point, for a moment:
In some English translations we read in Hebrews 6:6
      "IF they shall fall away"
and in other English translations we read
      "And they HAVE fallen away"
Clearly these are VERY DIFFERENT statements. So which is it?
Unless we shall READ DISTINCTLY, from the ORIGINAL GREEK\, we shall not be able to GIVE THE SENSE, and we shall certainly not be able to CAUSE anyone TO UNDERSTAND THE READING.
Well, two things militate in the original Greek grammar to show that the traditional KJV reading gets it wrong.
      1) The conditional particle "IF" is simply NOT there in the Greek. The word used is indeed the conjunction "AND"
      2) The Greek text uses a series of "aorist indicatives". And from the outset it is important to understand that Greek doesn't have a direct past tense as English does. BUT PAST TENSE is expressed in Greek using the aorist tense + indicative mood combination. (So about 50% of all New Testament aorists occur with indicatives, and are thereby past tense).
There are two more critical factors to consider. Indicatives, whether past tense or not, are used to state assertions of fact. And the writer makes no less than five such aorist - indicative statements in a row. This, being the last in the series.
The writer to the Hebrews states:
It is impossible for those who
      1) were once enlightened, and
      2) have tasted of the heavenly gift, and
      3) were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, and
      4) have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, and
      5) they have fallen away,
      - to renew them again unto repentance; seeing
      1) they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and
      2) put him to an open shame.
Notice, that the first five statements are past tense in English. This is correct. They are all aorist indicatives in the Greek. Statements of past facts, These were REAL EVENTS, exactly as stated under inspiration of the Holy Spirit in our text. The Greek is even more poignant here, because the first and third of the first five statements are passive. It is God that gives the gift of Holy Ghost. And He is always given to true believers. These persons were once enlightened. This also is a passive aorist indicative. It is a statement of past fact about the work of God, not man. God did it, He truly enlightened these believers and He truly gave them the Holy Ghost. They were truly born anew. There is no question that this is THE SENSE of the text when we read the words DISTINCTLY according to the original Greek grammar. It is God who enlightens us at conversion through the Gospel.
But statements two, four and five are equally poignant. These aorist indicative , statements of past fact are active voice in the Greek. Having been passively enlightened by Christ, and been made recipients of the Gift of the holy Ghost by God, they ACTIVELY Tasted the heavenly gift. And the gift of God is eternal life (Romans 6:23; John 4:10). And they ACTIVELY tasted the good word of God (The Gospel, which is the power of God unto salvation, etc). This is what born again Christians all do, it is an ongoing thing for all true believers (Galatians 3:5). But now in point five we read the aorist indicative that states they ACTIVELY FELL AWAY. And the metaphor "Tasted" is very striking indeed. Could it be any more real? When we taste literally, our senses participate in something real and not imaginary of hypothetical. This metaphor is used to highlight the very real participation in Christ. But just as John 15 wearns that anyone IN CHRIST who does not remain in Christ, will be removed (not by man, for this is impossible - John 10:28), but by the Father, (which is entirely possible - Luke 13:7-9; Romans 11:22) so these believers also did not remain in Christ but ACTIVELY FELL AWAY. And they were certainly removed from the Christ the vine.
Just as real as their conversion to become true Christians and the receipt of the gift of the Holy Ghost,so also their fall (Romans 11:20-22)
But now the writer changes tack, and his choice of verbs and participles change sharply. He writes:
      - to renew them again unto repentance
This is an infinitive. And the verb is transitive in nature. Being transitive, the action of renewal must be God's working , which is theologically consistent with Jonah 2:9. For Scripture teaches Divine Monergism, and never synergism (synergism is the false doctrine of man + God working in conversion).
The use of an infinitive is used to state a proposed action, e.g "to go further than man has gone before".
But the reason for the impossibility of a re-conversion in this case is also given by GREEK PRESENT TENSE ACTIVE INDICATIVE participle - verb forms. It is important to emphasize here that Greek present tense verbs are ONGOING and DURATIVE in character and nature. And this is frequently overlooked in translation because it makes translation clumsy to emphasize this feature of Greek.
      THEY
      - keep on crucifying to themselves the Son of God afresh, and
      - keep on putting him to an open shame.
That is the force of the Greek present tense and the reason why the writer contrasts the time order in this way
      - a past true conversion, followed later by
      - a past falling away , followed by
      - impossibility to be renewed to conversion, because of present and ongoing
      - crucifying and putting to open shame the Lord.
And one last point is needed here.
What does it mean to fall away? The Greek root word is "parapipto"and not merely "'pipto" as some commentators falsely assert. And parapipto is simply not a New Testament word except in this one place.
But we know that the writer to the Hebrews quotes the Septuagint (LXX) extensively. And "parapipto"is used repeatedly in Ezekiel to refer to the righteous (true believers declared righteous through faith in Christ). In fact parapipto is only used in a spiritual sense in Ezekiel, in the LXX, and the most striking passage is Ezekeil 18:24
"But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned (parapipto - "sinned"= fallen away), in them shall he die.
And this is precisely the meaning of the writer to the Hebrews in chapter 6:6. The falling away is clearly a falling away from a state of grace into a life of unrepentant sin.
And this is precisely the theology of the Apostle Paul in Romans 8:13 also
"For IF YOU live after the flesh, YOU SHALL DIE:
but IF YOU through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, YOU SHALL LIVE"
We need to see also the the "Impossibility" is not absolute but relative.
The writer to the Hebrews is not suddenly introducing new and foreign ideas that were never taught in the Law and the prophets. Consider 2 chronicles 36 where "it was impossible to renew the people to repentance"for we read "there was no remedy". Or consider Zechariah 7 where it was impossible to renew them to repentance , for we read "they made their hearts as an adamant stone", or consider the men in the prayer of Jeremiah in Lamentations 5:21, 22 where he prays for renewal. Jeremiah finished by lamenting that it was impossible for them to be renewed in that "Thou hast utterly rejected us".
Yet we read much later that many of these that were impossible to renew again to repentance, did in fact come to repentance. For it is the same people of whom we read much later in Ezekiel 33:10, 11
"Therefore, O thou son of man, speak unto the house of Israel; Thus ye speak, saying, If our transgressions and our sins be upon us, and we pine away in them, how should we then live?
Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?"
Here God reassures them, with an oath, that they will be received and forgiven as soon as they repent.
And this same truth is reaffirmed by the Apostle after warning us that we will be denied by the Lord if we deny him, for he writes:
IF we deny him, HE also WILL DENY US:
IF we believe not, yet HE ABIDES FAITHFUL: HE CANNOT DENY HIMSELF.
      (2 Timothy 2:12, 13)
Here Paul reminds us that while we will be lost if we deny the Lord and continue in that state (for it is a Greek present tense verb that is used of our denial here. And the Greek present tense is ongoing). The Greek does not say, "IF we have denied Him", but rather "If we are denying Him". It is identical to continuing to crucify the Son of God afresh and put him to open shame, which is identical in meaning to denial of Christ.
YET our own past unbelief and unfaithfulness does not negate the promise of the Gospel. The promise to forgive all that come to God by Jesus Christ relies on HIS Faithfulness, not ours. The Gospel is founded upon Christ. God affirmed it with an oath in Ezekiel 33:11, by His very existence! And He cannot deny himself.

Man's nature has always been to want to justify himself. The Pharisees struggled with this immensely. They couldn't fathom how someone could be saved and made righteous in God's eyes simply through faith. To them that was too easy and is why Jesus teachings of such angered them so much.

@@TheNationOfTexas The key to Paul’s authorship of Hebrews is found in the very last verse. HEB 13:25-“Grace be with you all”.
Now go read 2 THESS 3:17-18. “The salutation of Paul with mine own hand-which is MY TOKEN IN EVERY EPISTLE: so I write”. “The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen”
Pretty strong evidence I think. There is more as well. I think Paul had a good noble reason not to directly identify himself: his love for his jewish brothers who he wanted desperately to come to the saving trust/belief/faith in Jesus. I wouldn’t be surprised if he thought jews wouldn’t even consider reading it if it was identified with Paul at the onset of the letter.
I also suspect that Peter is referring to Hebrews in 2 PET 3:16 assigning authorship to Paul.

@@William_Clinton_MuguaiI find it interesting that you cite John 10:27, 28. Don't you realise that this is a QUALIFIED STATEMENT, especially in the Koine Greek grammar?
The Qualifying Greek verbs are in the PRESENT TENSE, and this changes everything.
The Greek present tense is unlike the English present tense in that it denotes imperfective (ongoing) action in the Greek. English has no such aspect and English present tense verbs must modified to make them function imperfctively.
The nearest way that we can represent Greek present tense in English is to add an "ing" ending.
For example, "sleeping", "running", "walking". But we can do this in other ways also, such as by adding an "ers" to the end of a verb. (Eg
"a hearer", "a doer"). The difficulty with that is that the verb then takes on noun character, but the ending captures the Greek present aspect.
"Do not weep, for she is not
      dead but sleeping"
      (Luke 8:52 - ESV)
Be aware that our KJV Bible tends renders such passages similarly but with old disused English endings like "eth"
"Weep not; she is not dead,
but sleepeth.". (Luke 8:52 - KJV)
Here is the critical relevance of this key truth of Greek grammar to this text in John 10:27, 28.
      The Qualification:
      My SHEEP are:
      - Hearing My voice
      - They are following Me
      And I am:
      - Knowing them
      - Giving them Eternal life
      And THEY
      - Shall never perish
      - Neither can anyone pluck them out if my hand
      - Noone can pluck them out of my father's hand.
So who can never perish ?
      The SHEEP who ongoingly:
      - Keep HEARING Jesus Voice and
      - Keep FOLLOWING Jesus
Jesus uses two kinds of statements of this kind.
      He uses:
      - "IF ... THEN" statements to qualify the true SHEEP, such as in John 8:31
      IF
      you continue in my word,
      THEN
      are you my disciples indeed
This kind of construction is makes the condition very explicit.
The other kind of qualified statement takes the form of precursor VERBS or substantive PARTICIPLES (ie Verbal labels). The Bible translations often translate them as verbs, but they are actually verbal LABELS. And used to make a qualified statement.
These occur in John 5:24 and John 6:40 and the verb type occurs n John 10:27, 28
So, for example, the qualifying substantives in John 5:24 are:
      The
      - HEARER of My Word and the
      - BELIEVER on Him that sent Me
      is
      - HAVING eternal life and
      - Is not COMING under condemnation, but
      - IS PASSED from death unto life.
The qualifying substantives participles are in the
      PRESENT TENSE in the Greek.
      These are labels.
It is that one, and that one alone who ONGOINGLY
      - Is a HEARER of Christ
      - And a BELIEVER on God
That ONGOINGLY is having eternal life and ONGOINGLY not coming under condemnation but IS PASSED (The Perfect Tense used here to denote CURRENT STATE)
      Similarly in John 6:40
      - The BEHOLDER of the Son
      - And BELIEVER in Him
      Should be:
      - HAVING eternal life
      - And I will raise him up on the last day.
All of these qualifying statement / promise couplets (in John 5:24, John 6:40, John 8:31 and John 10:27, 28) make perfect sense when we turn to the WARNING in John 15:1-6
I am the true vine, and My Father
      is the husbandman.
EVERY branch IN ME that beareth
not fruit HE TAKETH AWAY ...
IF a man ABIDE NOT IN ME, he is
cast forth as a branch, and is
      withered; and men gather them,
and CAST them INTO the FIRE,
      and THEY ARE BURNED.
This too is a qualified statement. Now observe two key elements:
      - Every branch IN ME
Man cannot be IN CHRIST except by the Father's doing.
"Of God are you IN CHRIST ..."
      (1 Corinthians 1:30)
"IF anyone is IN CHRIST he is a new creation"
      (2 Corinthians 5:17)
We have seen from John 10:28 that noone can take the SHEEP out of The Father's hand.
But here in John 15:2 it is THE FATHER Himself that TAKES AWAY and removes from Christ EVERY person in Christ who does not bring forth FRUIT.
      (ie "FRUITS worthy repentance"
      Luke 3:8, Isaiah 1:16, 17, Isaiah 55:7, Micah 7:1, John 8:39)
And this truth is strikingly taught elsewhere in passages such as Luke 13:6-9 and Romans 11:20-22.
In John 15:6 the Greek present tense subjunctive mood verb "abide" means "to continue" , "to remain" , "to abide" etc.
IF a man should ABIDE NOT IN
ME, he is CAST FORTH as a
      branch, and is withered.
And men gather them, and CAST
them into the fire, and THEY ARE
      BURNED.
This is precisely the lesson of Luke 13:6-9. In this parable Jesus is the vine dresser and God the Father is the owner of the vineyard. The vineyard itself is the body of Christ and The Father comes looking for fruits worthy of repentance.
When he finds anyone without the fruits associated with true faith he is angered and ready to cut such a one away, for we read in Psalm 68:21
God shall wound the head of his
enemies, AND the hairy scalp of
SUCH AN ONE AS GOES on still
      IN HIS TRESPASSES.
      And again in Psalm 85:8
God the LORD ... will speak peace
unto his people, and to his saints:
BUT let them not TURN AGAIN to
      folly.
So the warnings in John 15:1-6 and Luke 13:6-9 are very real. And they agree with the qualified warnings of John chapters 5, 6, 8, 10.
But there is good news also.
In the parable in Luke 13, Jesus is the vine dresser. And here in verses 8 and 9 He intercedes for the fruitless Christian and gives him a space to repent. This fruitless man had been "dug" by the law" and "fertilised and watered" by the Gospel. And Christ gives us a space to repent:
      Remember therefore how thou
      hast received and heard, and
      HOLD FAST, and REPENT.
      IF therefore thou shalt NOT
WATCH, I will come on thee AS A
THIEF, and thou shalt not know
what hour I will come upon thee.
      (Revelation 3:3)
As many as I love, I rebuke and
      chasten: BE ZEALOUS therefore,
      and REPENT
      (Revelation 3:19)
We see therefore that John 5:24, John 6:40, John 10:27, 28 don't teach "eternal security". They teach a conditional security. It is conditioned upon continuing in Christ. And how do we do that?
By continuing to HEAR CHRIST (ie to HEAR attentively) and by continuing to BELIEVE upon Both The Father and the Son.
Jesus says the true SHEEP are characterised by ongoingly HEARING and FOLLOWING Him.
Now Saul was indeed given a new heart and a new spirit along with the Holy Spirit (1 Samuel 10:6, 9; Ezekiel 36: 26, 27, 1 Samuel 10:10)
      along with the Holy Spirit.
But when Saul turned back from FOLLOWING God and refused to HEAR God's Word, the Holy Spirit departed from him and the last state of that man was worse than the beginning (1 Samuel 16:14; Luke 11:26)
And all these things happened FOR EXAMPLES FOR US, and they are WRITTEN FOR OUR WARNING, upon whom the ends of the world are come
      (1 Corinthians 10:11)
      Therefore Paul warns us:
      BE NOT HIGH-MINDED, BUT FEAR
For if GOD spared not the natural
      branches, TAKE HEED LEST HE
      also SPARE NOT YOU.
      Behold therefore the goodness
      and SEVERITY OF GOD.
      On THEM which FELL, SEVERITY.
      But toward you, goodness,
      IF
      you CONTINUE in HIS goodness.
      OTHERWISE YOU also
      SHALL BE CUT OFF.
      (Romans 11:20-22)

If this message brings you a sigh of relief and u go back into more sin, then u have to question is this false doctrine? Or are you finding your own god that suits you and your sin? I myself tried to find eternal security and kept sining how wrong was I. It wasn’t until god opened my eyes I realized what a fool I was. I pray u guys seek Jesus and stop sining not because someone tells u to or the Bible tells u not to sin but because your a child of god and the seed of god is in you and that’s why u don’t sin.

Sin alone can’t separate you from God because Jesus paid the price for our sin on the cross. Falling away is the sin that you keep doing over and over again which ultimately leads to a hardening of the heart towards God and you’re basically saying, “Screw you God, I’m gonna commit this sin.” Josh Harris the author of “I Kissed Dating Goodbye” he wanted an unbiblical divorce from his wife. He was having an affair. Ultimately his heart was hardened to the point where he said, “I don’t care what God says about marriage.” He has completely renounced the faith now. I think some of the priesthood went back to some of the old ways and offered sacrifice. therefore you have hebrews 6 vs 4..... looking at other scriptures take for example David who sinned to the max.... was taken back by God and other examples in parables lost coin, lost sheep and the prodigal son... for me that makes you theory hold water... thanks for posting

So how then, can a person use Hebrews 6 to prove that it is impossible to repent and be saved after losing salvation. That’s insane… once you are saved, you are sealed eternally. The Bible would be in conflict with itself if you believed Hebrews is saying you can lose your salvation. That explanation is a clear twisting of scripture to fit the once saved always saved doctrine. The verse does not say 'it is impossible to fall away', it says it's impossible if they(believers) fall away to renew them again to repentance.
What IS possible is for believers to fall away!
What's NOT possible is for them to be renewed again to repentance. And this impossibility to renew to repentance is because they DO crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame!
God's word is not confusing. It's perfectly clear! Men who want to hold to the eternal security doctrine confuse God's Word to keep their doctrine and it's so sad.
Just believe what you read instead of twisting God's Word to fit what you want to believe.
We are not spiritual robots. God does not force us to remain in Christ. Love does not force. We have a choice everyday! That's why 'today is the day of salvation', every single day we live we need to choose life or death.
The life is in Christ and we have it by abiding in Him, if we depart from Him we depart from eternal life.

Glorify God-Not Satan, because the Rainbow is God's Loving Reminder that He Will Destroy the whole world for its sins, but this time with Fire. Once I had a Healthy Fear of God and learned that True Believers Never Willfully Sin, I Stopped Making Excuses for myself & I fully Surrendered Everything! I Realized that Even my Thought Life Would Condemn me to Hell! Once I thoroughly removed Every Unclean things from before my eyes, God Free me from Every Lustful Thought and Sexual Desire! There is only one problem, this speaker has simply not expounded the text.
Yes, He has appealed to certain aspects of the broader context. But he has falsified the clear narrative of the text. His interpretation is simply not grammatical. It ignores the series of aorist indicatives, laid out clearly in the original Greek text. (aorist indicatives = statements of past real a tense events and facts).
He has also also violated “the analogy of the faith” (The Rule in Romans 12:6 that holds all exposition to conform to the clear texts rest of Scripture). As Scripture everywhere clearly teaches that there is a danger of falling away, any exposition of Hebrews 6:4-6 should be in full harmony with the rest of Scripture in this issue.
This passage teaches that many believers who were once truly recipients of life and salvation and the Holy Spirit, also later had fallen away.
The “impossibility” described in Hebrews 6:4 is not drawn by the original author from a direct quote of Scripture. Rather the author has derived this conclusion from a number of Old Testament Exemplar passages, that teach a relative impossibility of repentance. And this approach to use of derived Old testament examples is very consistent with the style of the author to the Hebrews, we might add.
This is a very serious warning passage in the original Greek . Very real , truly born again Christians very absolutely fell away into a hardened state of unbelief in the narrative. The use of 5 repeated aorist indicatives couldn’t make this plainer!
The good news for English readers is that the “impossibility” the writer speaks of is a relative, imposssibility, as seen in a number of Old Testament passages. Let us remember, the writer is not about to introduce a new concept, never before taught in Scripture. He will rather use Scripture to teach doctrine, in accord with Isaiah 8:20.
"To the LAW and to the Testimony! If the speak NOT according to this Word, there is no light in them"
(Note: LAW i.e. Torah = Teaching in most contexts)
So allow me to show this:
The Writer uses a word for “fall away” that simply doesn’t exist in the New Testament. BUT ... it does occur in the Septuagint (the LXX) in PRECISELY this context , of “Falling Away” in Ezekiel 18:24. And you should know that the book of Hebrews draws HEAVILY on the LXX in its quotes. There is no question that the writer had Ezekiel 18:24 in mind when he wrote this passage. The reason for this is that Ezekiel is the only place where the word for "falling away" is used in a spiritual sense, and it is always used of believers, who fall away into sin.
If they hear not Moses and the prophets , neither will they be persuaded if one rose from the dead .”
It is impossible to Bring such to repentance.
And in the Greek text these who fell away were crucifying the Son of God in the present ongoing tense in the Greek. They were living on in sin. They kept on crucifying to themselves the Son of God. That is, They ADAMANTLY refused to hear the Law and therefore could not benefit from the Gospel.
People can fall away. And people can become so hardened that they cannot repent. But, a person who knows their sins and mourns over them is most certainly not hardened. Such a person may take full comfort from the Gospel , (Matthew 5:3, 4; Psalm 34:18; Isaiah 66:2) even though their sins may have been as red as scarlet (Isaiah 1:18)

Finally, someone on youtube teaches this passage correctly. Agree 100%. Most people simply don't go back and read chapter five and the first 3 verses of 6 to put this in context.
These were people who thought they had lost their salvation when Paul is telling them that that is impossible for the reasons you exactly stated.
So amazing people twist this to scare people into, ironically, believing in a works for salvation devilish gospel. "Gotta keep working and not fall away or you will lose your salvation!"

    • @JacobBecomesIsrael

***** Ryan, you are violating a basic principle of biblical exegesis - difficult passages must be interpreted in light of clear passages.
Eph 1:13-14 is crystal clear that once you believe, you are sealed by the Holy Spirit Himself in Christ and will never be lost. See also John 6:37. If Jesus loses me after he says that he wouldn't - even if in a weak moment I do not believe - you make Jesus a liar.
Thus, by this we know that Hebrews 3:12 cannot be talking about someone who is saved losing their salvation.
Without having done a complete study of this passage - not interested in deep debate with a false teacher today sorry - I would venture to guess that when it says that they have a "heart of unbelief" they either simply are those that actually reject the gospel but sit in the pews for social reasons but remain unsaved or this passage is warning against the consequences of a saved person losing faith and the chastisement that will follow should one walk away from the Lord.
The Lord will chastise those he loves and knows as a child. Repeatedly in the NT we see reference to the shepherd using the rod to bring back a wayward sheep.
What I do know is you are twisting this scripture to contradict clear scripture on this subject.

+Jacob Becomes Israel You are sooooooo wrong! The text says its impossible to renew an apostate to repentance, and you say it says its impossible for believers to lose salvation! Such liars are all eternal security teachers! Further, they weren't stumbling over the law, or "law-based". They were drifting away from the Lord and thinking of repudiating Christ publically and returning to Judaism! This is why the warnings are in Hebrews! You have NO IDEA why this letter was written, but that doesn't stop you from lying about it.
Heb 3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
Heb 3:13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
Heb 3:14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; Salvation is plainly revealed to be conditional. We are warned not to depart from God through unbelief, and we are told we are made partakers of Christ ONLY IF we continue to the end. Christ said those that endure to the end will be saved, and in the last days, many would not, but would fall away.

That claim is just about as far as you could possibly fall away from the Bible.
But do you not hear the Son? how that the Father himself removes from Christ all who do not continue in Him? Twice Jesus gives us this warning, urging is to abide in Christ and in His Word, lest we be cast forth and burnt. And once, Paul also picks up on this very language of the Lord and warns believers equally of the danger of being finally lost.
      But consider the passages themselves:
      He spake also this parable;
A certain man had a fig tree
planted in his vineyard; and he
      came and sought fruit thereon,
      and found none.
Then said he unto the dresser of
      his vineyard,
      'Behold, these three
years I come seeking fruit on this
      fig tree, and find none:
Cut it down! Why cumbereth it the
      ground? '
And he answering said unto him,
'Lord, let it alone this year also, till I
shall dig about it, and dung it:
And if it bear fruit, well.
And if not, then after that thou
      shalt cut it down.'
      (Luke 13:6-9)
Here the owner of the vineyard is The Father, and the Dresser of the Vineyard is Jesus Christ.
In this parable the Gather looks within his vineyard and finds those who are not bringing forth fruits worthy of repentance. They are barren and must confess they are like the prophet in Micah 7:1; or like the people of God who were falling rapidly into eternal judgement in Deuteronomy 32:32-36.
So here also God looks for the fruits of a true Christian in every dry tree (Ezekiel 20:47) and is ready to "cut it down".
But now Jesus, intercedes for the unfruitful Christian in this passage.
*Let it alone a season, and I will dig him, and dung him and water it. And if it bear fruit - well. And not, then You shall cut it down"
Here Jesus continues to nurture those who believed (Luke 8:13). He has dug and dinged us with the Moral Law and and has abundantly waterered us with the Gospel. And he expects fruits worthy of repentance also (Luke 3:8)
The next reference is far more explicit. I know the mind of the semi Calvinist. They will try get off the hook and say the man in Luke 13 was never saved. But this defeats the parable. But nevertheless, not so John 15:1-6. Here Christ Jesus describes those "In Christ".
And it is impossible to be "In Christ" apart from the Father
      (1 Corinthians 1:30)
And it is impossible to be removed from Christ, but by the operation of the Father in judgement (John 10:29; John 15:1, 2).
So you see, no man can take a believer in Christ from the Father. But Jesus warns that the Father HIMSELF can remove any soul that does not CONTINUE "In Christ".
I am the true vine, and my Father
      is the husbandman.
Every branch IN ME that beareth
      not fruit HE taketh away.
And every branch that beareth fruit,
He purgeth it, that it may bring
      forth more fruit.
      Now ye are clean
through the word which I have
      spoken unto you.
Abide IN ME, and I in you.
As the branch cannot bear fruit of
itself, except it abide in the vine; no
more can ye, except ye abide IN
      ME.
I am the vine, ye are the branches:
He that abideth IN ME, and I in him,
the same bringeth forth much fruit:
for without Me ye can do nothing.
IF a man ABIDE NOT IN ME,
HE IS CAST FORTH as a branch,
AND IS WITHERED; and men gather
them, AND CAST them INTO THE
      FIRE, and THEY ARE BURNED.
      (John 15:1-6)
      Verse 7 continues:
If ye ABIDE IN ME, and MY WORDS
ABIDE IN YOU, ye shall ask what ye
will, and it shall be done unto you.
So we discern that Abiding / Remaining / Continuing IN CHRIST is connected with continuing in His Wirds in such a way that His Word abides in us. And this is precisely the qualifying and characterising inference the Lord makes in John 5:24 and in John 10:27. For the true sheep continue in Christ's Word and continue to hear His voice.
In John 15:1-7 the starting point is those already IN CHRIST. And the urgency is the issue of whether they will continue IN CHRIST and His Word in them, or whether they will not (See Luke 8:13). In such cases the Father removes those who do not continue IN CHRIST.
The final warning is given by the Apostle himself.
      Be not highminded, BUT FEAR:
For if God spared not the natural
      branches, TAKE HEED LEST HE
      also SPARE NOT YOU.
      Behold therefore the goodness
and SEVERITY of God: on them
      which fell, SEVERITY;
      But toward you, goodness,
      IF YOU CONTINUE IN HIS
      GOODNESS.
      OTHERWISE YOU also SHALL
      BE CUT OFF.
      (Romans 11:20-22)
Here again the language is very sobering and crystal clear.
Paul addresses true believers here and warns that God (The Father), will indeed CUT OFF ANY person who DOES NOT CONTINUE IN HIS GOODNESS.
      And his warning is personal
      "Be not high-minded BUT FEAR!
      ...
Take heed lest He spare not YOU"

The scripture is plain: it says that it is impossible to renew those who were once enlightened if they should fall away not impossible to lose one's salvation. That mean it is very possible to fall away. The writer of the book of Hebrews was addressing those who once trusted in Christ but turned away. He gave them the strict warning of the lesson of those who came out of Egypt but never entered into the promise land because of their unbelief. Every body is required to guard their inheritance. Sin and turning away from one's faith is always a choice even after a man has been born again. A man's salvation is only guaranteed if a man faithfully remains in Christ and in a holy walk.

I agree that this is the best explanation so far because it considers the context starting from verses 1-3 of Hebrews 6. Verses 9-12 also state the real reason behind why the author of Hebrews is talking in such a manner. “12 so that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”

this scripture is NOT referring to true believers who have been born of the Spirit It is telling immature Christian HEBREWS to keep on believing and growing in Christ because the JEWS of that time were rejecting Christ and continuing to live under the LAW The ONLY sacrifice that REMAINS forever is through the BLOOD of Jesus Christ NOT the blood of bulls and sheep and goats. He was assuring them that they WERE and would always be saved IF they did not fall away as a lot of the JEWS had done who grew up under the law. Once you believe in the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ with ALL your heart ,you will move on to perfection and you will never fall away. You will never stop BELIEVING in Christ. If a believer continues in willful sin then he will be consumed by a terrible fear of judgement and the Father will chastise him so severely that he will come back to repentance. So we are talking about 2 distinct people here." those who were in danger of going back under the law and rejecting Christ and those who were sinning by their unbelief One is saved ,the other is not. " So yes,one who has not FULLY trusted in Christ can fall away and be lost but the one who fully trust in Christ and realizes that His sacrifice is the ONLY sacrifice that remains forever will NEVER be lost. For whom GOD loves HE will chastise. So be sure to turn from willful sin lest any of you have a heart of UNBELIEF UNBELIEF in Jesus's sacrifice for YOUR sins is the only thing that you make you fall away. If you are out there and you think you have fallen away, if you still believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God and Savior then you are not fallen away and can have eternal life So just repent of sin and have faith in HIS blood!! One drop of the blood of Jesus Christ is enough to cleanse a billion sinners of a billion sins ,for a billion years, And then SOME!!

Dude, Thank you for this. I've been going through a tough time wondering if I've "Lost my salvation" or even worry that maybe one day I'll leave the faith. Both thoughts terrified me. I'm not one to be scared but.... Anyway, for the longest time these verses have almost added to the fear, but I knew that in other places in the Bible Christ talks about losing none. So to have that explanation with Christ Himself saying He loses none I know that I am indeed forever saved. That when I first said I wanted Christ in my heart that at that moment, I was locked in, forever changed, forever in Christ. Thank you for this, It helped a lot.

Hi John! I want to encourage you to study the book of John! In John 20:30-31 John explains the purpose of the book of John and that it's to help convince the reader to understand how to receive eternal life.
What i love about the book is you find the word believe 98 times and never once find repent or confess sins or commit your life.
Eternal life is given at the moment we trust Jesus for it...and it last eternally no matter what our desires are..no matter how we live. Amen! it's a promise Jesus keeps forever!
but what do we do about the rest of scripture that teaches believers to live for Christ? Living for Christ is always about fellowship..and the experience of fellowship in obedience or in disobedience! Continue to listen to pastors that understand this perspective because the vast majority of pastors teach a very confusing message that ask the sinner to look at their life to show proof of their faith...we just cannot do that..we'll lose assurance of salvation every time.

There is only one problem, this speaker has simply not expounded the text.
Yes, He has appealed to certain aspects of the broader context. But he has falsified the clear narrative of the text. His interpretation is simply not grammatical. It ignores the series of aorist indicatives (I.e. statements of past real facts) laid out clearly in the original Greek text.
The use of 5 repeated aorist indicatives couldn’t make this plainer! For the aorist is the tense of punctiliar fact.
The good news for English readers is that the “Impossibility” described is relative and not absolute. Let me show this from Scripture:
The Writer uses a word for “fall away” that simply doesn’t exist in the New Testament. BUT ... it does occur in the Septuagint (the LXX) in PRECISELY this context , of “Falling Away” in Ezekiel 18:24. And you should know that the book of Hebrews draws often upon the LXX in its quotes.
If they hear not Moses and the prophets , neither will they be persuaded if one rose from the dead .”
It is impossible Bring such to repentance.
And in the Greek text these who fell away were crucifying the Son of God (which is the present ongoing tense in the original). They refused to hear the Law and therefore could not benefit from the Gospel.
People can fall away. And people can become so hardened that they cannot repent

      John 8:11:
      11“No one, Lord,” she answered.

If you will not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come against you.

.The warnings not to be deceived and fall away or depart from the faith by Jesus (Mat. 24:4-5, 10) by the Holy Spirit (1 Tim. 4:1) by Paul (2 Thes. 2:3-4) by Peter (2 Pet. 2:1) and by John (1 John 3:7), are for believers. The unsaved can't depart from a faith they never had!
Seriously, how can unsaved people fall away from a faith they never had? A partaker of Christ is someone saved by grace through faith (Eph. 2:8). One cannot continue to receive grace if they choose to deny their faith in Christ (2 Tim. 2:12, 2 Pet. 2:1)

No, Antioch. You are not if you have repented and given to your life to Jesus.
The HS' job is to sift through your life, like going through your attic, your mind and heart, and will address what is needing addressing. He is patient, knows what you can bear, and will convict - touch on, make you sad, uncomfortable, uneasy and so on - you on certain things, one at a time, until you sort them out with Him. Otherwise, all is covered by the Redeeming Blood of the Lamb, Jesus.
However, guilt is connected to CONDEMNATION, something the HS NEVER does.
Satan does, though, and he is a barrack-room lawyer, who knows the Law, but does not UNDERSTAND it, using it like a club to beat you into guiltiness, over and above what WE do to OURSELVES!
Do not rely on feelings, they ebb and flow, and can be, and are, often unreliable and misleading.
Trust the solid Word of G-d, pray with a trusted spiritually mature Christian friend, and count all trials as joy. Shalom.

If we cut out the parts of this passage and keep only what pertains to this argument, it becomes very clear what the intention of the passage is.
    Hebrews 6:4-8 (part thereof).
For it is impossible for those if they fall away,
to renew them again to repentance,
since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God,
and put Him to an open shame.
but if it bears thorns and briers,
it is rejected and near to being cursed,
whose end is to be burned.
People, don't believe this fellow. If you continue to knowingly engage in sin you will burn in hell. Our salvation is a journey that we have to walk through. We continue to be saved.

Hebrews 10:26-29 talks about coming to the knowledge of the truth (could be an unbeliever still) but also says “by which he was sanctified” which throws me off unless the word “he” here refers to Jesus & not the believer OR to a potential believer (being that one can only be sanctified through faith in Christ, speaking as if Jesus has sanctified even unbelievers in the same way his blood was shed for the forgiveness of all sins of the world--they simply need to acknowledge or believe this for it to go into effect on their behalf).

With this methodology, you could get a scripture to say just about anything. I'll admit I could be wrong (a good position to take), but I feel pretty confidant that the plain reading of the text is the one we should go with. Cheers.

hmm, I thought it was strange that he would go from talking about growing spiritually and moving on from the basics of the faith, to then talk about losing your salvation. There's kind of a disconnect there and i believe what your saying about him trying reassure them. Thought i'm not yet 100% certain of your teaching on this, i think it's a great possibility that this may indeed be what the Author of Hebrews is trying to express here.
A couple verses down he goes on to say:
Heb 6:9- Even through we speak this way, dear friend we are convinced of better things in your case - the things that have to do with salvation.
Question: If vs 4-6 was meant in enforce to the Hebrews that they can't lose their salvation, why would he then make what seems to be almost a disclaimer and specifically mention salvation? Understand what i'm trying to say?
Hope to get a response from you brother.

And later on, in chapter 10 I think, he mentions them enduring public scorn for the faith, and comforting one another. These people were in the body of Christ. I know it's much more comforting to believe otherwise, but citing the context doesn't wrap these issues up the way that people would have you believe. I wish it did, believe me.

You can also lose it by looking at a women in lust. No difference in the eyes of a holy God. Is so simple Christ takes over in the true believer. He takes care of us. We can't take care of Christ. If anything you'll hear these individuals say "if you are on your way to hell it is because you were never saved in the first place" a better question is, if it was not by our own works that we were saved, then how are our works powerful enough to for us to lose something we did not receive by our own works? Actually if we see someone saying they're a christian yet walking like an unbeliever, then guess what? They were never saved in the first place. It isn't our works that save us and our works don't make us lose our salvation. When we get truly saved and depend on Christ to save us (not our works) then the Holy Spirit lives in us and HE begins to reveal to us sin we would have never seen as an unsaved person. HE puts new desires in our hearts so that we will live in obedience to Him. Actually, the whole "a christian can lose his salvations thing" is pretty much

We are all saved by grace through faith. Every individual has to make the choice on whether to accept the offered grace. The greatest of all the commandments as mentioned in the bible, was broken by the chosen people of God now and then. Merciful God always gave them chance to turn back to Him.

    Really? what about this:
Matthew 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
1Peter 4:18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
You think that you are saved? Really? You think you are born again? Really? Are you sure. You might be. I am not the judge, just the messenger that is asking questions.
How do you know if you are born again?
1Jn 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
1Jn 5:5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
1Jn 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
1Jn 5:19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
1Jn 3:6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
1Jn 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
1Jn 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
1Jn 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
1Jn 3:10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

There is more to it than that my friend. A simple prayer at one time in ones life is not a free ticket to heaven. There are verses all through the Bible that makes this clear. Here is another one. Please don't trivialize this that it applies only to the great tribulation.
Rev 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
So what might it mean to overcome? You also said: "We all sin". Are you sure? All you can do is speak for yourself. What do you think it means to be holy? What does it mean to be righteous?
      What about this verse:
1Jn 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Well what does it mean to overcome is pretty simple. To all the churches he mentions to he that overcomes. Well in John 6:47 and John 3:16 and Acts 16:31 and John 6:29 believing is enough. In Romans 8:37 it says we overwhelming conquer through him who loved us. In 1 John 5:4 is our faith that overcomes the world. And in 1 John 5:5 is he who believes that Jesus is the son of God overcomes. Is that simple. We overcome because greater is he who is in us than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4.

    • @chainsaw5524
      @chainsaw5524 8 років тому

I don't think that you really answered my question. You make a point that believing is enough. Of which, I say yes and no. Believing is enough, but it is not enough. You might not understand my parable or riddle, but I do speak the truth. It all depends on what is "believe". Most Christians simply do not have a clue. It is not what they think.
Let's get back to overcome. If all we have to do is believe then you make Jesus a LIAR, because he said: " To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life". He did not say that those that believe will eat from the tree of life.
So what am I and you to overcome?
Let me throw this verse at you:
1Pe 4:18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
This verse hopefully will get you thinking. Please explain that one to me also.

    @timclark2925 11 місяців тому

you nailed it........I believe the writer of Hebrews is definitely talking to saved believers.....So if we go back to the beginning of Hebrews Chapter 6 the author tells us exactly what they are talking about.....
Hebrews 6:1-3 "Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us press onto maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, 2 of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3 And this we will do if God permits."
So right there in Hebrews 6:1 we are told what the topic is; Pressing onto maturity... So Hebrews 6 is not even talking about salvation or one losing salvation; its talking about getting already saved Christians to grow up and obey God. And this is confirmed if we continue to read in Hebrews 6:7-8
7 For the earth which drinks in the rain that often comes upon it, and bears herbs useful for those by whom it is cultivated, receives blessing from God; 8 but if it bears thorns and briers, it is rejected and near to being cursed, whose end is to be burned.
Notice in verse 8 it says it is rejected and near to being cursed; not actually cursed......and verse 12 below the author hopes that by growing up the saved Christian will inherit all God has promised them. So what he is saying in Hebrews 6:4 is that if Christians refuse to grow up; eventually it becomes impossible to get them to repent and mature...and we see that all the time with Christians who simply refuse to grow up and take the Christian life seriously.....and as a result many put Jesus to an open shame.

The Spirit came on me suddenly, and I felt a certain tingle in my body out of the blue. At the time, I was thinking of spiritual things when it happened. As a teenager and as an adult, I let lust creep into my being. Lately, though, I put off lustful things and repented. The Lord has blessed me greatly. Yet, this particular chapter 6 bothers me because I suppose I was shown the light by that encounter but did not live a completely dedicated Christian life. I need to hear some thoughts on this from other Christians. Hebrews 10 "For if we sin willfully after receiving the truth, there is no more sacrifice for sin".

Is Moses eternally saved? He "fell-away" and" turned" from Christ by hitting that rock, no? I haven't found anywhere in the Bible of it mentioning that he repented from committing this sin. So, according to your logic, Moses should be burning in hell and not talking with Christ and Elijah on the mountain during Christ's transfiguration because he didn't live a completely holy life.
Now, before you say that Moses' sin was dealt with differently because it was the old law. Yes, the old law doesn't apply to us anymore. But the Old testament is still relevant to us as old and new are connected. And to say that the old testament doesn't apply to us anymore is an easy comp-out from answering this question.
Moses STILL got to see the promised land after hitting the rock, he just didn't get to Enter it. Some of us believers will get to SEE the Kingdom of God but not get to ENTER it. Just some food-for-thought....

And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”

Actually, it’s teaching that eternally secure saved people of God can fall away (unto the chastisement/judgement of God). However, even when such falling away takes place, the person is still saved.

With all due respect: Approaching Hebrews with our gentile-centric perspective causes many of us to misunderstand Hebrews 6:4-6.
Remembering the original recipients of this book were Hebrew believers can help us understand that these verses are written
for those who were (or are) being tempted to return (fall away) to the old covenant. This can be seen especially when we read verse 6.
Returning to the old covenant shows contempt for what Jesus did for us.
Why do many good Bible teachers miss this and struggle with this text so much?
Perhaps this misunderstanding is caused by - unconscious - replacement theology.
Meanwhile, the gospel continues to be for the Jew first and also for the Gentile; as are the warnings to not be deceived.
Those who are trying to live under the old covenant are being deceived.

In the age of grace you are “sealed with that Holy Spirit of Promise”. Ephesians 1:13. You cannot lose your salvation in the “church age”. The book of Hebrews and both books of Peter are written to the Jews as warnings about the last days. So in Hebrews 6:4-6, Hebrews 10:26-27, & II Peter 2:20-22 it means exactly what it says. The issue is a lack of scriptural comparison. During the 70th week, aka the Time of Jacob’s Trouble, aka the Tribulation “If any man worship the beast and his image and receive the mark in his forehead or in his hand… he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone…” Revelation 14:9-11. The Book of Daniel refers to the 7O weeks; 69 of which end with the crucifixion of the Messiah. Then grace begins. When the 70th week occurs grace ends and the Law begins again. Hebrews 2:5 “… the world to come whereof we speak.” I Peter 1:13 “… the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” If anyone gets the mark of the beast, no matter what you believe, what you confess, or what works you do, there is no way to “ renew them again unto repentance, seeing they crucify the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.” Hebrews 6:6. To accept the mark is to openly deny who Christ is; same as when he was crucified. “Better to trust in the Elohim, than to put your confidence in man.” Psalms 118:8

Many on judgement day hear the terrifying words "I never knew you!" Because they were not saved in the first place.

Thank you for reminding me to read scripture in a way that does not add or take away Paul laid it out clearly that we are talking about the more complex principles of doctrine that is what we will fall away from not the elementary principles of salvation

I just had a former pastor argue with me and say sorry you can lose your salvation and said Heb 6.4 were true christians and cited preachers who fell away. Don't buy that. The video is correct.

What a distortion of Heb. 6:4-6. It clearly says once a believer falls away he can never be renewed to repentance. An unsaved person cant fall away from a faith he never had. This shows how far OSAS adherents will go to try and prove their heresy!

What he's saying is true. True faith is unbreakable and undeniable. If someone is able to walk away from biblically sound Christianity and pursue their own lusts, they were never saved to begin with.
1 John 2:19, NIV: 19 They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us.

Verse 6 endorses Luke 9 vs 62. The "if" speak also to Hebrews 10 vs 26-27. The "if" being a conjunction - introduces a conditional clause that you're battling to tackle.

So true, the scripture is replete with references concerning the truth of eternal security. Concerning the matter of some kind or other aspects of sin given to say that one can lose his or her salvation; I John 3:9 - “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.” This verse speaks explicitly to the idea that the believer can commit the kind of sin that Adam committed. It states that the believer cannot sin because God seed remains inside him and it is impossible for the believer to sin in a way so as to cause the loss of salvation.

I loosen myself, my family, friends, colleagues, neighbours, acquintances and my opponents and the body of Christ to be a partaker of the holy spirit according to hebrews 6:4-6, 2 corinthians 6:14-18, while I loosen myself of every unequal yoke and common share with those who lack to be a partaker of the holy spirit, in the name and blood of Jesus Christ: ""For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the holy spirit."
