My friend came to school with that as his new deck, and we went behind the tree to trade for different cards because we weren't allowed to bring Yugioh cards to school.
The competitive aspect for these old school structure decks are evidently not that significant, but it seems intriguing to experience some nostalgia regarding the genesis of this game. You provided the very product itself onto the viewer not just to open it, but to discuss why it's not that relevant, further proving your point when completing bad structure deck reviews. You took the same approach of the mystery power boxes, which is clever. Very good opening, Dzeeff.
Gadjiltron Dragon was the backbone of my favourite deck of all time, Geartown Beatdown. Being able to summon a 3000 ATK beater with backrow stun every single turn (or 2 off of magical hats) was such a powerful thing back in the day, and it made this simple rogue deck a real contender. The deck led to my first of several Regional/Local tops, and got me an invite to Nationals where I placed 49th, and considering I was still fairly new to competitive Yu-Gi-Oh!, that meant a lot to me.
I know I'll sound like a guy who just doesn't want to get with the times, but I miss yugioh back when it was so much simpler. I recently just started getting back again, and I just don't get the point of the new extra monster zones (where if I'm not mistaken, all monsters from extra deck can only be summoned to). I'm a casual back when I used to play, but it was cool when you can somehow have multiple fusion monsters in the field. I get that that's stupid, but it's just fun to me. I remember trying to get Dark Paladin and Sorcerer of the Dark Magic on the field at the same time. I remember playing with E-Heroes. Back then things were so much more basic and fun than it is now to me.
I remember getting this structure deck. The Gadget cards were great, and this was a cheap way for me to get Enemy Controller, Pot of Avarice. and Limiter Removal.
The main problem of pot of avarice, when it came out was, that you had to have 5 monsters in grave. During that time it wasn't done that easy, so that when you had pot of avarice in the starting hand, this card was pretty much dead for at least 2 whole turns in most of the decks.
I always loved structure duels. I have a lot of fond memories of them. Just get together a bunch of structure decks. Maybe with a few alterations to balance them and just both have to pick one at complete random. Many cards are there just for theme and so you have to improvise. To me they were fun BECAUSE they were not well constructed decks. You mostly just had to improvise with whatever came along and you really got to feel like all the effects were there because that's just how the deck was.
isn't there a little flap like 1/3rd from the bottom you can rip and it splits the plastic in 2 that you can just slide off. I remember the dragon rulers and the first 2 link era decks had that.
Love this format for the structure deck reviews! I like that you say a little bit about every card and its role within the deck, regardless of whether the card is good or bad.
Green Gadget because of that 1400 beat stick beater and his power stance! I do remember playing this structure deck in the schoolyard and summer camp with Battle City Rules.
When I was getting back into yugioh for the first time in years I bought a bunch of structure decks for me and my brother to duel with and this was one of them. I thought it was going to be the best one because it was the only one based around an archetype. It was actually the worst.
The whole "playable right out of the box" needs to be explored how Magic has recently been doing it. They released a set of FNM structure decks that are very close printings of real competitive decks from recent events. They do cost more than normal decks but for the amount of competitive play they can get some mileage
Commander Decks...one of the best preconstructed products ever (for a not so competitive format). They also intrduced previous month so called "Challenger Decks" (which are very close to really competitive decks in a competitive format)...but they will rather soon rotate out. Wizards of the Coast seems to mostly deliver precons when and where it has the least impact to the sales of other products (packs), while increasing their revenue.
Swolelax Challenger decks are great. I play MTG, and the value you get out of them is very good. They cost $30, but a couple can go up to $45, due to demand. They include playsets of valuable reprints of their respective archetypes, and were designed by competitive players who work for the developers.
Machine re-volt is one of those decks where the deck is good, but not for the intended reasons. The gadgets were fantastic, but the actual ancient gears weren’t all that good, minus the outdated geartown ruling being played in control decks for a while.
I actually had one weird use for ancient gear drill. I used to mess around with a lawnmower AG deck with overload fusions. Had some pretty goofy synergies like twilightsworn lyla being able to blow up your gear towns, etc... The drill let the deck live a little longer while grass is greener was at one since I could search it out... granted my opponent didn’t twin twister it ofc
I love Ancient Gears. I know they're not competitive, but the imagery of giant stompy robots being... well... giant and stompy... is so cool. Stronghold the Moving Fortress.
This was the very first structure deck I ever had. The next one I had was the six sams one. Maybe that was a starter deck, whatever, the point is this was my first deck, and because of this deck, ancient gears are my fav archetype to this day. It’s so weird to see this deck again after so many years...
Just an FYI there is an easier way to open the newer decks. I recently just got back in and most of the decks have a small "rip" on the back that allow you to peel around the deck (like opening a tide laundry detergent) to allow the deck to easily slide out of the plastic.
9:40 Same dzeeff. Red Gadget is objectively the best one. It has the highest stat total between the trinity and looks the best. His stat spread is also better than the others.
Red Gadget's my favorite of the 3, not just in color or shape, but it just looks so expressive, and it has the most balanced stats of the bunch. I'll be honest, the other two, Green and Yellow, look more generic and boring compared to the "bombastic blood bot" as I have recently liked to call Red Gadget as.
BroMan Errr... AGs are now stronger than ever. Dunno where you're taking that from. Sure, it's miles from being meta and it can very hardly (if ever) be considered rogue, but AGs can make some very good combos with the newer support. They also have one of the best beatsticks currently in YGO, Chaos AG Giant.
BroMan Nowadays, AGs are just played for sheer fun. Summoning those huge bodies and beat down your opponent just feels good. AGs can be fairly competitive at locals (I can testify it), but nothing higher.
Yup, with a (get ready because it seems only a 0,5% of the YGO fanbase thought of this combo) AG-True Draco Deck with more synergy than half of the viable local decks. However, since it seems TDs will be hit by the arriving banlist, pure AGs are still superb in this regard (just remember that you want Gold and Silver Gadget). I recommend to visit "The Casual Duelist Channel", an overly underrated channel with some really good deck profiles (and a lot better than the "BEST XXXX DECK" by TeamSamurai), I just hope the hiatus doesn't mean the channel died...
In practice this deck is worse than the Rock-Type structure deck. I'm saying this because I played it in World Championship 2008 and lost to every single other structure deck, including twice to the Rock one, and only won once against itself
Am I the only one who really loves the inside of these structure deck mats? You get to see what the deck is SUPPOSED to do, according to Konami, and it gives really interesting suggestions for cards. Sometimes they're good suggestions, like with the Cyberse Link structure deck- although combining the two link structure decks is so obvious, I don't think the suggestion was necessary - sometimes they're bad suggestions, like I think I remember in the Pendulum Domination Structure Deck, and then, every once in a while, they suggest you put Evenly Matched and Infinite Impermanence in your deck in the same mat. I mean, it synergises with Lair of Darkness, but really? As if it were that easy. But overall, they are the first thing I check when I buy a structure deck, just out of habit. Like, of course I know what cards are generally good, but I like them just for the mild curiousity of it. Wait, didn't they suggest the collector's Winged Dragon of Ra in the Marik Starter Deck? Even though they acknowledged it was unplayable?
Can't wait for the review of this one. Make sure to play some games against other bad ones such as Lord of the Storm and the Exxod one so you can really see this deck's terribleness in action: you'll be surprised to see how many turns you have dead hands.
I really miss the nice little rulebooks, I was the bane of every wannabe duelist in middle school because I carried a couple (from different starter/structure decks) on my person at all times so I could argue the rules with the other kids
Is the "something special" going to be a video of you trying to figure out the most destructive way to open a box without damaging the cards? I'd pay good money to see that.
Actually, the remade Ancient Gear Structure Deck doesn't have any Union monsters. The most recent product with a Union monster that sorta feels out of place is Legendary Dragon Decks/Cyber Dragon Deck (also, Cyber Dragon Revolution).
I still remember beating people who used that structure deck with my Machine King Beat down, whole point, smash their machines under the boot of their King!
This structure deck is straight up trash on it's own, I have been playing YGO World Championship 2009 because I thought I'd catch up on mechanics like synchro etc. (I have not played in a long time clearly), and there's an npc that lets you do structure deck duels. I first tried all of them until I hit re-volt, took me like 2 hours to win a duel with this junk even vs dumb ai that blows up their own premature burial with heavy storm. So often I was sitting around with trash hands just not able to do anything because the gadget gimmick is so clunky, no way to search or protect them +only 1 copy of each so it's rare that they were ever there at the right time to combo with other cards or be tributed, and half the time it's sitting with big monsters I can't use because gear castle got mst'd immediately. Invincible fortress is better than re-volt, don't @ me.
Rare Metalmorph is better than Metalmorph in Duel Links, so many targeting spells are in the meta. Ancient Gears actually commonly played multiple when they were still a relevant deck.
I'm super disappointed there's no print version of the current rulebook. Having one on you is a valuable resource, and printing a pdf will not only be a lot larger, but be of significantly less quality.
me and a few friends play an old school format with just the 10 structure decks from 2005-07, and let me tell you - this deck is unplayable. it's literally just a meme to us now, we only whip it out for the chance to beat someone with the unwinnable deck. anyone saying any of the other structures are worse than this one has little experience with the whole group. Machine Re-Volt is just that, it is revolting, a crime against yugioh.
0:15 "No one wants to sit and watch a 1 hour structure deck review"...except me
Right? 😂 I'd watch him review these for over an hour and I don't even play Yugioh anymore
dzeeff's videos actually rekindled my interest in ygo
Pack openings?
meee tooo
Nicholas Alexander So your interest in yugioh is fire but only has 200 defense? Try to increase that defense.
yourrgb Official is that really a good thing?
Rekindling is a limited card though, so that couldn't be possible
dzeeff: "This is from 2007"
Me: *remembers buying it in stores when it just came out*
Me: "Christ I'm old"
Cototo Alegria Yes, because he somehow was able to buy packs as a baby.
Cototo Alegria He was probably at least 11 when he bought the structure deck you know...
I remember stealing one of them back then.
don't care about age dude XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
My friend came to school with that as his new deck, and we went behind the tree to trade for different cards because we weren't allowed to bring Yugioh cards to school.

"I will open every single structure deck"
Do you guys need any more proof this is NOT a pack opening channel?
they're box openings like the mystery power BOX 1, 2, 3. BOXES of the newest sets e.g. FLOD, BLRR, CYHO.
Green is my favorite color, so Green Gadget is my bro. He's also got that nice 1400ATK that rivals even the legendary Celtic Guardian!
Or the indomitable mystic tomatoe
Or the indomitable mystic tomatoe
Green gadget is my favorite cause he a lil chunky
extra *T H I C C*
Rata would call him a 'chunky boy'.
no love for gadget hauler :(
Equip Ancient Gear Tank to Golem
"How's he supposed to fit!?"
Micaiah Pickering Maybe AG Golem picks it up and bashes people with it. I dunno...
The tank drives Ancient Gear Golem.
*simplyunlucky jizzing himself in the distance*
Hey looks iiiiits Dreary!
I remember getting this structure deck. The Gadget cards were great, and this was a cheap way for me to get Enemy Controller, Pot of Avarice. and Limiter Removal.
8:13 It is ridiculous to play Union-Monsters in ABC-Decks! - Dzeeff, 2018
Just remembering that the crap card is not searcheable at all by union hangar and most of the times will be a brick.
U know that all ABC's are Union-Monsters
Ancient gear beast appears
Doug “hey the deck IS in order”
Rare metal morph “BITCH YOU THOUGHT.”
I can't stop staring at that that 7.99
Oh snaps! I remember this deck. On a whim, a friend and I purchased both this and the spellcaster structure deck at a local game store. Fun times lol
The main problem of pot of avarice, when it came out was, that you had to have 5 monsters in grave. During that time it wasn't done that easy, so that when you had pot of avarice in the starting hand, this card was pretty much dead for at least 2 whole turns in most of the decks.

Gadgedragon was a decent boss monster for its time.
isn't there a little flap like 1/3rd from the bottom you can rip and it splits the plastic in 2 that you can just slide off. I remember the dragon rulers and the first 2 link era decks had that.
Love this format for the structure deck reviews! I like that you say a little bit about every card and its role within the deck, regardless of whether the card is good or bad.
Weapon change is there for stronghold the moving fortress, as it would give it up to 5000 attack if you somehow set it up
I like Yellow Gadget. He is my good luck charm for passing my Math test.
Green Gadget because of that 1400 beat stick beater and his power stance!
I do remember playing this structure deck in the schoolyard and summer camp with Battle City Rules.

TheTrueLeafless yea challenger decks is what I was thinking of

Stronghold the Moving Fortress.
Last time i played YGO (with the actual cards) it was 2009 but i still watch your videos because i find them interesting.
The main thing structure decks are missing is a decent extra deck. I'm not saying put an Omega in there but at least something the deck can make.
Yeah, but back then it was just fusion monsters which pretty much universally sucked
personally my favorite gadget is the green gadget.
The Graveyard is still a resource, and the Deck is not, so in terms of card economy Pot of Avarice's condition could still be seen as a downside.
Runningon Cylinders
Negative 5 jar?
14:23 This gear soldier that has 0 atk and 2000 def aswell as the moving fortress (the trap monster with 0 ATK and 3000 def).
This was the very first structure deck I ever had. The next one I had was the six sams one. Maybe that was a starter deck, whatever, the point is this was my first deck, and because of this deck, ancient gears are my fav archetype to this day. It’s so weird to see this deck again after so many years...
This was the first structure deck I ever bought. It was in target in 2017
Just an FYI there is an easier way to open the newer decks. I recently just got back in and most of the decks have a small "rip" on the back that allow you to peel around the deck (like opening a tide laundry detergent) to allow the deck to easily slide out of the plastic.
Weapon Change can also target Dread Dynamo and Fortissimo, in addition to Gear Golem, to turn them all into massive beaters for their levels.
9:40 Same dzeeff. Red Gadget is objectively the best one. It has the highest stat total between the trinity and looks the best. His stat spread is also better than the others.
My favorite gadget is the yellow one, he seems like a chill dude to hang out with
i really loved this structure deck as when i was a kid it was the only way for me to get ancient gear golem
Dzeeff is now a structure deck opening channel
Also, green gadget is my favorite. He used to be my only ultra rare one. Besides, I like the color green more than red or yellow.
Oh my god yes! This is my favourite archetype in the game. Too bad it sucks nowadays :(
BroMan Errr... AGs are now stronger than ever. Dunno where you're taking that from. Frozium Yeah funnily enough i wasnt aware of the new support when i wrote that comment. I completely agree with you now.
BroMan Nowadays, AGs are just played for sheer fun. Summoning those huge bodies and beat down your opponent just feels good. AGs can be fairly competitive at locals (I can testify it), but nothing higher.
Frozium Yeah im thinking of investing in them and having fun at locals. Did you actually beat anyone with them at locals?
Yup, with a (get ready because it seems only a 0,5% of the YGO fanbase thought of this combo) AG-True Draco Deck with more synergy than half of the viable local decks. Yellow gadget cuz it’s edgy
This was great, just watching you riff on these terrible cards and see a structure deck broken down, very entertaining.
id watch an hour long structure deck video by you dzeeff
You underestimate our ability to watch hour long videos :p
In practice this deck is worse than the Rock-Type structure deck. I'm saying this because I played it in World Championship 2008 and lost to every single other structure deck, including twice to the Rock one, and only won once against itself
Green Gadget is the best of the little guys. He's ready to take on anyone and anything.
Am I the only one who really loves the inside of these structure deck mats? You get to see what the deck is SUPPOSED to do, according to Konami, and it gives really interesting suggestions for cards. Update on your crystal beast deck with the new crystal beast cards coming out ?!
Wow! A whole TWO Dollars off!
*E X T R E M E V A L U E ! !*
uhh these go for 15-20 dollars each online fam
I really miss the nice little rulebooks, I was the bane of every wannabe duelist in middle school because I carried a couple (from different starter/structure decks) on my person at all times so I could argue the rules with the other kids
Now you must be a structure deck opening channel
I don't mind long videos
Powercode Link is gonna break this game and I love it
REVAN THEDARKMAN how
REVAN THEDARKMAN. dude^^ i hered powercode link^^ is commin out this August!!!!!!^^
good sir I would watch a 1 hour structure deck review I love longer format videos
Is the "something special" going to be a video of you trying to figure out the most destructive way to open a box without damaging the cards? I'd pay good money to see that.
just remember guys this isn't a pack opening channel.
Let's be honest, I think we would all watch a one hour video by Dzeef
Actually, the remade Ancient Gear Structure Deck doesn't have any Union monsters. The most recent product with a Union monster that sorta feels out of place is Legendary Dragon Decks/Cyber Dragon Deck (also, Cyber Dragon Revolution).
Gold Gadget 🥇
Does Ancient Gear not count itself to trigger it's special summon ability?
I liked this one quite a lot.
I still remember beating people who used that structure deck with my Machine King Beat down, whole point, smash their machines under the boot of their King!
Just a quick question
Do you think Possessed Dark Soul can be usable in the virus deck?
nice a BOX opening channel for a change! subscribed!
looking at this in 2022 15 dollars for the 2007 decks is expensive lol they are over 100 now usually for some reason.
Will you ever do zombie madness
I want a 1 hour deck review!
I still use this deck, albeit modified.
would weapon change with boot up soldier and a gadget give it 4000 attack?
It's weird hearing "new" when what is being referred to came out when I was in middle school.
When are you posting a Batteryman update?
wouldn't be a dzeeff vid without saying a name wrong
Rare Metalmorph is better than Metalmorph in Duel Links, so many targeting spells are in the meta. Ancient Gears actually commonly played multiple when they were still a relevant deck.
What does everyone think about lair of darkness that just came out?
I like yellow gadget~
LoL this was actully my first deck my mom bought me back in 2007
Not gonna lie, I'd watch a 1 hour structure deck review
you forgot the thumbnail that the video was a pack opening.
thats the last structure deck i ever bought lol
also, i liked the green gadget the most
"No one wants to watch a one hour structure deck review"
I disagree!
I love yellow gadget. he tries his best
I really like this deck!!
Yo I actually have gear golem in foil o: was one of my favorite cards for a while
Yellow gadget is the cutest lol
I bought this deck when i was younger and bought 2 lose gear golems immediatly after from a card vendor and threw them in
I'm super disappointed there's no print version of the current rulebook. Having one on you is a valuable resource, and printing a pdf will not only be a lot larger, but be of significantly less quality.
This was my first deck ever
Put some respek on covering fire’s name. That was the first Ulti card I ever pulled.
Could you ever cover Magic The Gathering content? I'd appreciate to see some of that
I DONT SEE ANY REASON FOR WEAPON SWAP-as he thumbs by Dread Dynamo, Stronghold, and Gear Golem
me and a few friends play an old school format with just the 10 structure decks from 2005-07, and let me tell you - this deck is unplayable. it's literally just a meme to us now, we only whip it out for the chance to beat someone with the unwinnable deck. anyone saying any of the other structures are worse than this one has little experience with the whole group. Yellow Gadget, best color.
