It's not much of a victory if your country is destroyed. This war was totally preventable.

I wish the general would've talked more about: "I don't think Russia itself is really gonna last another 5 years." (20:14 mark) What?!?

What a brilliant discussion between these fine military minds. I could listen to these gentlemen talk for hours. As an Australian, it gratifying to see that a US General has a deep understanding of the significance to Australian and New Zealand people of Galipoli in 1915, a battle that forged the psyche and character into a new nation. The 25th of April is ANZAC day, celebrated at dawn, the same time the Australian and New zealand soldiers landen on the beach in Turkey. I am so touched that an American General would reference this.

Very good talk. So well explained and argued. Despite your endless political wrangling in the USA, I have always admired your country for its ability to organise and conduct affairs, both civil and military, so efficiently. Greetings from Western Australia.

23:55 Problem with the Green party in Germany is, that they are not hawks, but very aggressive pigeons, meaning they are aggressive in their foreign policy, but domestically they still are committed to policies that weaken Germany (terrible energy policy, uneasy with military spending and in general a disparaging attitude towards the Bundeswehr and national strength and identity)

Great mix of commentary. Here's hoping their optimism is well founded and that the specter of war weariness does not prevail. As an Aussie I found the very appropriate analogy of the ANZAC spirit's birth in the Gallipoli crucible most gratifying. Thank you.

I'd like to find a contrasting view that made sense. I tried Counsel on Foreign Relations. Thy don't take comments.
I commend you to an Australian, Perun. He had a gaming channel, but decided to do a video on Ukraine as he was tired of the media coverage. He had over the top response and he has done half a dozen over the last week.
He does grand strategy, the microeconomics of what nation states should be spending scarce military dollars on and analysis of figures coming out of Ukraine.

The economist doesn't seem to understand the complexity of modern millitary hardware. A P52 was basically a combustion engine surrounded by some metal and hydraulics not a F35 that is a crazy complex system. Also the capabilities of a F35 are incredible vs the P52.
A javelin is far more complex than anything from ww2.

Russia is applying war strategies many do not understand or seem to be ignoring. The Ukrainian city of Mariupol is now fully under Russian control. The last Azov soldiers hiding in bunkers inside the Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol have surrendered. Russian troops are also gaining more territory in Eastern Ukraine. The Russian Ruble has grown stronger after the Ukraine war. Putin's internal rating is over 90%. It doesn't seem like Russia will eventually loose.

Considering that Ukraine gave up its nuclear weapons in exchange for a promise from the UK and from the USA to defend Ukraine from attack, it is disgusting beyond belief that the UK and the USA would say "We will not defend Ukraine". That brings immeasurable dishonor upon the UK and upon the USA. I (as an Australian) am reminded of Britain promising to defend Australia before World War II and then abandoning us when war came. Our response of the time was to develop chemical weapons in Homebush Bay, (Sydney) (the subsoil of which is still contaminated) and to develop biological weapons in the basement of the Wagga Wagga hospital. Similarly, small nations will now commence building biological, chemical and nuclear weapons for their own defense. Indonesia has announced that it will use its five nuclear reactors to produce nuclear weapons. Japan, has been building the precursors for their nuclear weapons and for their delivery systems for many years. It is now likely that Japan will make the final step and become a nuclear power. The damage from this UK and USA dishonor will last for a century. It will be the century of shame for the UK and for the USA. Millions of people will die needlessly as a result. Australian has invested more than 100 years in fighting with the UK and with the USA. If the UK and the USA will not honor a commitment in which Ukraine gave up nuclear weapons then Australia cannot rely upon the UK or upon the USA to help us. Any words that the UK or the USA might say in response are meaningless. The UK and the USA were honor bound to send troops to help Ukraine retrieve the Crimean Peninsula and other areas of Ukraine taken by Russia. The UK and the USA are too afraid that helping Ukraine as they promised would cause World War III. Yet, they made that promise to Ukraine in order to remove nuclear weapons from Ukraine and so reduce the risk of nuclear war. Small nations, (such as Australia), cannot now rely upon the UK or upon the USA. There is also the looting of the Ukrainian treasury by corrupt Russian sympathetic politicians and Russian Plutarchs. Also there is the accusation that while President Joe Biden was Vice President of the United States, he engaged in corrupt activities relating to the employment of his son Hunter Biden by the Ukrainian gas company Burisma. Of course, I do not know the truth of these reportedly corrupt activities. Though, they deserve to be investigated in the light of current events. Regards, Geoff. Reeks

This is a month old. It looks to me like Russia is making slow but steady progress in Donbas. I doubt Ukraine has the physical mass to push them out of Donbas and certainly not out of crimea. IMO this will settle into a stalemated artillery war.
