Greetings from India 🇮🇳. FYI. As wrongfully pointed out by Mr Munj. Petrol ⛽️ isn't the reason why cars are very cheap. There's no logic in this at all. I mean it's no rocket science. He had also mentioned the same on Pakwheels sometime ago. Petrol ⛽️ in my state cost ₹ 103 for the last 6 years. Petrol ⛽️ prices did go up by 53p this year. One must understand that ₹ 103.53p. Isn't much for us Indians. Do I wish it would be cheaper? Of course! I do. And I fall under the middle-class category and this doesn't hurt my wallet. The reason why cars are very cheap in India 🇮🇳 is that all the cars, bikes, lorries Trucks to tractors 🚜 are manufactured completely in India 🇮🇳 both Indigenous (local) and international automobile companies. Every component (tyres, battery 🔋 and all) is manufactured in India 🇮🇳 by Indian vendors and is also exported as well. Both local and international automobile companies have a full presence in India and their respective manufacturing plants in India 🇮🇳. Both local and international auto brands manufacture both for domestic and international markets. In fact, you will find many MADE IN INDIA 🇮🇳 cars in every country on this planet. Either Indian or international auto brands. And unlike Pakistan 🇵🇰 (where cars are welded together and painted) we manufacture (body panel stamping, dashboard and the major and critical parts and all the bolts 🔩 and nuts too). All auto brands must have proper showrooms, services and spares and honour warranty claims and warranty on the services or warranty of parts and work carried out on the car. Indian auto companies like Tata Motors India Ltd, Mahindra Motors and Force Motors, Hero Motorcorp, Bajaj Motors, TVS Motors and many others are present all over the globe. Mahindra is thrashing the global competition in Australia 🇦🇺 and South Africa 🇿🇦 (one can UA-cam this fact). And all the international automobile companies are present in India 🇮🇳 with their latest global models. We have global launches in India 🇮🇳. Our Auto Expo is a global event and it lasts for 20 days. It's on par with the Geneva Motor Show, Tokyo Motor Show, Paris Motor Show, Munich Motor Show, Detroit Motor Show and Sydney Motor Show. Mr Munj was also wrong about Chinese auto brands not being present in India. MG Motors India Ltd has been in India for 7 years now. MG has two manufacturing plants in India. BYD too has full presence in India with all their global models available like MG. The real reason for Chinese companies are not allowed in India is simple. You have to have 70% localisation from the start no importing of components and safety of data issues. I'm posting some links to some global auto portals and Indian car portals for fair comparison. This guy does not understand macroeconomics. He is trying to extrapolate microeconomics to macroeconomics which does not work. Issue are present at how economy is managed. Issue with pakistan is low savings rate. In pakistan's case, it has to come from reduced imports. But reduced imports means pakistan will disintegrate because pakistan has no production facilities. it is kind of chicken-egg issue. Pakistan fulfills investment requirement through imports. So to increase savings pakistan has to reduce imports meaning falling investment. No investment means falling production leading to low savings rate and again the cycle starts again. Only countries which has overcome such issue is china, where they increased savings rate by Inflation, channelling inflation to investment making household share less and less. Dont think pakistan can endure such pain

The media and government also trying to portray that there is stability, where is stability? Our GDP growth rate is 2-3% due to slashing of imports. With how fast our population grows, it should be 6-7% atleast if we want to develop. Such low GDP growth rate with high population growth rate means that theres going to be significant increase in jobless people ever year. The GDP per capita would decrease too. The country has a dead economy. We need investments but only a buffoon would invest in us.

Manufacturing means all the parts used made in that same country. May b not by same manufacturer but all the parts r manufactured for a particular model with all the agreements by the primary manufacturer.
When someone talks about "manufacturing vs assembling", they mean that most car components (especially key components like engine or transmission) are manufactured locally within the country, including the raw materials like steel that are used to manufacture those components. Obviously, then the components are brought to the assembly line and assembled in a plant. Suneel doesn't seem to understand this nuance. Secondly, on the point of comparing Alto prices in India vs Pakistan (btw Indian Alto is 1000cc compared to Pakistan's 660cc and also Indian Alto is a much bigger car), it is not simply unit economics that causes such massive difference in selling price in the two countries. That may be a small part of the cost difference, but the answer again lies in the local manufacturing aspect. Let's take the example of engine. In India, the Alto's engine is manufactured locally from the ground up using mostly local raw materials, as is the case for most cars. In Pakistan, I doubt that is the case. Even for legacy cars that have been around in Pakistan market for a long time, I believe core car components like engines are still imported, forget about sourcing raw materials locally and producing the engine in Pakistan. That can be inferred from the fact that even a 70cc bike engine isn't manufactured locally in Pakistan. Edit: For any Pakistani who believes it's because of taxes that cars in Pakistan are costlier compared to India, I would like them to check for themselves the taxes on automobiles in India. GST on cars in India is higher than Pakistan for every segment of cars, plus Indians need to pay advance road tax equivalent to 5-10% of the price of the car, and then purchasing car insurance is also mandatory by law.
Thats not what manufacturing vs assembling means. Manufacturing means building product for one own company. Assembley means building products for another company. Ravi motors is an assemble because they build cars for Toyota. If Ravi designed and started to build their own caar e.g Ravimobile 1. Ravi motors would now be considered a manufacturer as opposed to a mere assembler.
@4th_Disciple you got it wrong I'm afraid. Even the original company can have an assembling plant in a country to import CKD kits and assemble the car. Whether the original company does it themselves or their local partner, that's not the point here. Manufacturing would mean that the original company themselves or their local partner would have manufacturing plants/local partners who would manufacture the components locally in the country of sale, and then assemble them finally and sell it. For example in India, many of BMW's engines are manufactured locally in India by an Indian company Force Motors, who then supplies them to BMW's assembly line. The point is that the manufacturing is happening within the country of sale, regardless of who is responsible for assembling the car finally.

13:35 it's not a bad management issue with Suzuki, but it's an Accounting thing to transfer most of the Profit out of Pakistan to their Parent Company in Japan through purchase of Expensive Raw materials.
