Does this plant require co2 I can't afford CO2
Yo! Just found your channel, love the high quality, and knowledge!
Awesome video! I like how you included text showing the care parameters the plants want.
Great video on a wonderful plant. Especially good that you included the tip about iron to get the top pinkish hues. Keep rockin' buddy!
Hello
Thank you for sharing this video I am based in the UK and I have pogostemon erectus and my tank has co2 running and I bought this plant 3 weeks ago and it was 6 inch tall and now its upto 18 inch tall upto the top of my tank and thanks to your video I now know how to make cuttings and plant more and make more.
Great video and again thanks for sharing.
Peter
I love this plant. Can't wait to get my hands on some.
Pogo Erectus Was my favorite stem plant back when I used to run a lot of planted tanks. Looks good in your tanks Joel!
It's a cool plant, sharing the love out here!
I love how you did thisvideo. The care and parameters of the plant right on the screen was perfect. Anybody who's thinking of getting this plant in the future can come back to this video and freeze frame to see what conditions they need to keep it in...yep, perfect!
I shall continue this format until the cows come home!
Really enjoy your plant species videos. Have used them to decide on which plants I’d like to purchase for my tank. Showing placement, requirements and trimming puts your videos a step above other videos I’ve seen while researching. Well done 👍
Nice close ups of the planting.
I'm looking to get even closer! Macro planting shoots!
Its possible to miniaturize it too! In less ideal conditions it will actually branch out from the bottom and sometimes from the top, where the main shoot stops growing
I like how your name is 'Corvus' and you have a point little devil beard that indeed makes you look corvine.
Great video! I really liked how you showed propagation and replanting techniques! I enjoy watching aquarium maintenance videos and liked your coverage of the plant profile! Great work! I had not considered the plant utilizing iron. Good stuff!
The Flamingo crypts... I see them you need to make a video for us crypt weirdos
Are we weirdos? I like crypts of all kinds... O.o
We are weirdos. It's a fact. A good fact.
Probably my favourite background filler, great video as always 👍
Great video 👍🏽, I might be getting some soon for my planted tank to add some red and smaller leaf structure and different textures
Great plant, love the stuff and use it all the time.
Nice looking plant.
It is for sure!
Beautiful tank!
Thanks for the kind words! What projects are you working on?
@@CorvusOscen At the moment, we are working on raising an axolotl and white clouds in our cold water tanks, mollies in our tropical tanks, koi in our pond ...and plants everywhere! It is kind of cold here in the Land Of Enchantment so we have to wait on things like discus until somebody out there can make a decent aquarium heater! Ha! But thank you so much for the info on plants, plants and more plants! Your tanks are gorgeous!
I'm using the fluval heater, for the screen read out and the five year warranty!
@@CorvusOscen We have been seriously considering that heater for a 55 gallon tank.
Thank you, great video with great information!! I'm really liking this plant a lot. I just got my first 2 Octopus plants in from the CoOp & they are fantastic.
The octopus is awesome, it will grow like crazy!
Pretty cool plant! Thanks for sharing Corvus 🤗
I agree, it is an awesome plant that really makes me smile when I see it!
I have pogo erectus in my 8 week old tank with CO2 and Amazonia substrate with 6.4 pH and they are kicking ass and look great. I may get some iron per your suggestion for them and my rotola macandra reds. The pogos are getting so tall I will have to cut soon. Thanks for the info!
Those are both awesome plants! I been taking it easy on the iron, I don't want to over do it, makes filming look like something from the lord of the rings lol
Great video. Fantastic tank!!!
Lovely plants and tanks. Lovely vid.
Favorite part?
My favorite part is the format and the information and the hands on wet elbows action.
Thanks Chris!
Also the title and focus is a plant species name. Anyone with questions of that plant will search on UA-cam and Yu will pop up smiling with with elbows and help them.
Typo. Smiling with wet elbows* have a super day.
Thank you Sir I enjoyed it! I am working with some of the Octopus Plant from Bentley and looking forward to this one as well someday.
Awesome! If you're getting plants from Bentley, does that mean you're local?
Corvus Oscen Actually no I’m in Columbia, Missouri. But share some common interest and friends. Absolutely love your videos! Bentley and I share the love of the Hawaiian Blue Moscows, shrimp and rainbow fish. But slowly between you, Bentley and Lucas you guys are converting me into a plant collector!
at approximately what height do you start seeing roots on the sides?
really loved the close up planting. i always struggle and somehow most of the time unplant again haha. so hopefully i picked up a couple things lol
It's just a flick of the wrist! I listen to Metal while planting, maybe that's the secret? Or, maybe it's dubstep?
@@CorvusOscen oooo i could plant to dubstep. i clean to it sometimes lol
Good call, gotta have that tempo!
Awesome. What kind of lighting do you have on that 150?
Jesus you have beautiful tanks !!
Thanks Mark, I work on them and keep them nice!
Hello. Does anyone know what to do when this plant stunts. I have hard water in my area. And newly found out that hard water and liquid fertilizer dosing stunts this plants growth. Now my problem is I don't know how to fix it. Is there a way to reverse the stunting?
good video
Awesome looking tanks!!! I just planted a P. Erectus and some Wallachi together. How long do you think I should wait after planting them before I start propagating? Additionally what light is on the tank with the flamingo crypts, which sadly I cannot find anywhere? Thanks
Fluval 3.0 is the light on there, got it at aquarium coop. The plants will let you know when it's time to propagate, side shoots, aerial roots, really tall with dead lower leaves. All signs to propagate and trim!
Great Plant. I have been experimenting with using it as a carpet. The one problem that I have is that it seems to lose a lot leaves in the tank that I'm keeping it. Any suggestions?
Cheers,
Chris
Hmmm, it will lose leaves if undershadowed by the upper leaves, I know that for sure. That might be where you are running into issues.
Its this slow or speed plant?
Good day sir.. my pogostemon Erectus is dying.. i bought it emersed, then i submersed it into my tank.. and after a few days, it starts to melt.. is there anything i can do to save my plant.. thanks in advance..
Interesting Video! I got the same plant in my nano tank
Great plant for a nano, can keep it trimmed no problem!
@@CorvusOscen mine doesnt grow any much (you can look on my Video) because i dont have co2 but im gonna buy Co2
PS: sorry for bad english Im from Germany :)
It will still grow slower, but, much fuller and brighter!
Can you please help? Does it need bright light and high Co2 levels ?
Medium light is okay. Co2 will allow it to grow faster.
@@CorvusOscen Thank you! So much for guidance and good response .. 👍😊
It looks more controllable then pogestemon stellatus octopus. I like it!
That is for sure! THe Stellatus is awesome in it's own special way, like the fact it needs to be trimmed every ten minutes...
Hi there ,really cool plant, and so rewarding, I combine them with Pogostemon stellatus( Eustralis stellata) to accent a bit more purply red.
I am from the Netherlands and a Lott of plants are easily available, I love planted tanks scaped the way you do.
I am trying " Dutch style" ,Aquascaping only with plants and therefore no hard scape, that could be your next tank.
A great 2019 to you All.
Great plant, honestly wish it would grow faster though! I've done Dutch in the past, I may revisit soon!
Dutch style is cool I think, harder then it seems though. The P erectus will grow faster in very low flow and enough light, so try it in a " dead " corner of your tank , it needs furts and iron and co2 makes it " thicker " fuller. Have you seen it flower ? Beautifull purple flowers, must try sometime. ( above water as you said) .
I might have to get some of this pogostemon to go with the rotala indica I'm growing out for my new betta tank... it's this or stellatus.
Stellatus would be cool, would out grow a betta tank though
@@CorvusOscen 20 long, 40 breeder, a few 10 gallons... I don't keep bettas in smaller tanks :) Although I have one in a Fluval Spec V right now. One of my sorority setups is a 20 long, I was thinking about doing that one or the 40 breeder sorority with these, but if they'd outgrow that maybe I'll stick with indica rotala.
That's awesome! I love it when I see people keeping Bettas in a real sized tank!
What if I want to use silver scissors and black planting tongs?
Joe, I think that would work, though I wonder what you feel the advantage would be? Is it a better workflow option for you? (Did you get the cover sheet on those TPS reports yet?) 🤣
Stabbing myself is a big secret part of my success! Ha ha ha!
Nice looking plant.
Is it true that the P. octopus will grow straight out of the tank and strangle you while you are sleeping? No, I haven't been snorting rapashy, why do you ask?
Happy New Year.
The pogostemon stellatus has tried to strangle me many times. I will not allow myself to be murdered by a plant. There are far more dangerous foes out there, that I am sure will be the end of me. I hear smoothies are a better way to take in repashy, snorting tends to lead to sinus infection. Which would be a bad way to die.
what rock is that in your 120?
I got it from the coop! bit.ly/2HascNX
I really should try getting into plants...
What are the short wider leafed plant to the left of the pogo?
Would you rather a video on it?
YES! Love the magenta and pink! The contrast against a bright green pops. But don't forget Joel's fam first, fish fam after! Lol! Btw I was talking about the plants in the new 120.
Corvus Oscen Can you go over the red plant species in your tanks in a video or in this comment thread if easier? I have not had the best of luck with the few red plants I’ve had.
I'll be doing spot light videos on all my plants this year
Erectus? Demonitized 😂
💯👍👍
It comes from aisia
How about a profile on those white plants? 😏
I'm sure I will
