- In this episode, I talk about college in the 2000s and my experience as a sorority girl. I explain some of the weirdest traditions I remember from Greek life, talk about what it was like to live in the house, and list some of the most memorable sorority fashions from my time in college.
This is just bizarre as someone who’s in college.. my ideal social event involves my cats and dogs and a cup of tea
I live in Florence Alabama,a lovely, cozy, college town to UNA, and I am just a couple of hours from Auburn, and Birmingham. College football, and Greek life are practically a religion here. Younger, and when growing up,I just thought the whole world was this way, lol. I love it though.🥰
When I tell you I almost had to pull over on the side of the road when you started talking about the cooler ritual 🤣 it sent me down the rabbit hole because my friends and I were the ones who painted them for people and I’m almost positive I’m still in some FB cooler groups. Also thinking that making it on TSM twitter was the highlight of my college experience 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
I also rushed during swine flu and when I tell you we were all dropping like flies…passing out outside the Panhellenic building because this was before we could legally have houses in TN. I legitimately do not know how we survived 🤣
I was initiated to my sorority chapter in 2013 and these trends stayed true then as well! 😅 and Lily Pulitzer EVERYTHING and the obsession with being “classy” 😂
This was a very interesting recap! In Part 2 I would love to hear what drew you into Greek Life and is it really true your "sisterhood" lasts a lifetime. It surprised me you state you're an introvert and participated in Greek Life. As a fellow introvert I enjoy living vicariously through hearing these stories 😊
I would never do it again 🤣 I was much more social in college. I keep in touch with a few girls but I know some people are very active in alumni groups and stuff
You aren’t lying about the Greek system regional differences lol. I also went to big state school in the south as well (tho not in a sorority, but tons of my friends were) and hearing my friends’ experiences at school in the north in sororities was so wildly different. So much more chill than what I was used to!
I absolutely love your videos!❤
I love your channel it’s just pure nostalgia
this was delightfully fascinating! i was a kid when u were in college and thought people your age were sooooooo cool so i loved hearing about all this :')
I love your videos! I always use them as inspiration when I draw outfits :3
Im that 30 year old that can name my whole family line from current active to founders. 😆 It’s easy since my alma mater only has local clubs and mine was founded in 2005. My grandbaby and gbig are two of my friends I hang out with the most to this day. Def related to some of the items even though I was in Greek life from 2012-2014 at a smaller TX school. 😅
Local chapters are the best!
Omg swine flu, nearly forgot about that! I also got it in college and it was awful. And all my roommates ended up getting it too.
And omg the best way to smuggle booze was in a big drink cup, or even drink some of a bottle of pop and mix in some booze 😂
Ahhhh! Me too!
OMG GREEK!
My all-time favorite TV show.
So good!
You're either a Cappie fan or Evan fan.
Loved hearing your perspective on college Greek life. I was initiated in 1996 so about 10 years before you. We had Rush and most of the fraternities still hazed their pledges. This was before everything became so PC with “recruitment” and “new members”. I went to college in the south also. It was amazing and would do it all over again. Your sorority house sounds way fancier than ours. It was a giant house just like in the movies. However we only had 2 bathrooms on each floor. They had like 4 showers and 3 toilets per bathroom which everyone used down the hall. We either had bedrooms with 2, 3, 4 or 6 girls per room. We all had bunk beds. We had a big tv room in the basement and everyone would all watch Friends every Thursday night together. Otherwise, most everyone had a tv in their room and we’d pass around our collection of VHS tapes of mostly RomComs. We had all the party and function t shirts and wearing our letters on everything was a big deal. Lol. I’m so happy i decided to join a sorority. It allowed me to meet lots of people and get involved in lots of activities that I probably would’ve never done if I hadn’t. You always have someone to go with you to get a drink at sonic or make a Walmart run or do anything. So fun! Thanks for reminding me of some of the things I haven’t thought of in a long time. 😊
this is super interesting as someone who’s in a sorority now but at a small private college that doesn’t allow alcohol, which is obviously a pretty different experience lol. love your videos !!!!!
The snow storm was awful! I'm glad you stayed safe over Christmas ❤
Hello I already requested this on another vid but can u do the makeup DREAM had for their vid “he loves u not”
I pledged in spring 2005 and it was a very different world back then 😂 we were absolute animals and I wouldn’t change it for anything.. it was all about solow pants with a juicy zip up with your Greek letters underneath on a tee shirt and yes the uggs that were permanently stained from snow because we were in upstate NY ..AND SPRAY TANS
Greek life is so fascinating to me. For a long time I thought it was made up for the movies 🤣 not from the US obviously 🤯
The shorts in winter makes sense to me since you are from Wisconsin and it was Texas winter.🤔
Fines are still a thing unfortunately
You are stunning 😍
