    Increasing the Health, Damage Reduction and Group Scaling on World Bosses was never going to work as a permanent solution since they'd have to constantly update the values as they balance characters. Makes more sense to have gates to ensure some things don't go out of hand, like putting in caps. This needs more tweaks though, namely to make smaller groups have a better chance.

      And let fully geared chars a chance to solo a boss within a reasonable time (like 3 to 5 minutes ig). Sometime mid to late season there were several times I've been alone at the WB, and I could kill it then. But now... Yeah, don't think so.

      They also need to increase the boss dmg, so people won't just face tank for 3~5 minutes.

      @@TheTezoni Yea that what I was noticing at this boss fights, sure it takes longer to kill, but after a certain point of gear even this early on the bosses hardly do any damage, still not enjoyable.

    The only WB that may be worth it now is Avarice bc since it takes longer it spawns goblins sometimes now. We killed 4 goblins last time and I left with a full inventory (mostly yellows) but they also dropped a couple GA items so. I think we will still nuke it late season though.

    To me its way better that the fight takes longer. Now they need to make the boss be harder and most importantly give actual rewards. The resilience is a bandaid solution, the fight is longer but not really harder or more rewarding

    Blizzards way of thinking... The player has BURST DPS tools, however, the Bosses mitigate that with eliminating the BURST DPS all together and laying an Average calculation on top of it... Great job Blizzard !!!

    They made a mandatory boring checkmark mechanic for seasonal journey and prisms a 5-10 minute fight now with no changes to rewards, GG blizz

    The resilience should drop off after 3-5mins. It does help in a way for more people to participate/catch up compared to before where the moment they reach the area, the boss just dies in 3sec or less

    remember when they said the world bosses would have "weak points" or w/e. like on ashava, it's arm spikes could break off...or is it all just a fever dream? lol
    also, all these changes in S5 are going to be moot when VoH launches. i think that's why they went "crazy" with the unique buffs.

      if you stagger ashava her arm blade breaks off and the broken arms' blade swing wont lethally poison you anymore.

    I like the bosses taking longer and would love for them to make them hurt more too. but this isn't a good way to do it.

    Resilient is certainly not an elegant solution, but at least it does the job. I would prefer something more sophisticated than hard coded damage caps, but looks like Blizzard decided not to invest much time into this. Your suggestion with decaying damage reduction seems pretty good, but I don't think devs ever go this way. Also it looks like attacking boss before resilience wears off is pointless since you can trigger stagger when boss still has massive dr, and you don't want this to happen. I just hope they remove resilient in the middle of the season when nobody cares about world bosses anymore.

    I feel like a better suggestion, if the goal was to make it so folks don't miss out on the boss for being 3 seconds late, would be to just make a spawn window where for 5 minutes or so, one boss spawns per instance. I guess you need to lock a person to one instance though to prevent spamming.

    Instead of the bosses being resilient I think it would make more sense, or at least feel more fun, if they were 'armored'. Once the armor takes enough damage it could break away and then the bosses would take full damage. This weird damage reduction resilience thing feels so wonky.

    I think they need to create damage brackets. Depending on which damage bracket you're in will determine how long the boss will take to kill. In bigger groups, it will average it out. Making the boss kill time like 1.5 minutes if you're in the highest bracket. and like 10 minutes if everyone in the group would be the lowest. This would balance itself out usually with a variation of damage brackets in the group.

    If they just made the fight a bit more rewarding i feel it wouldnt be such a drag, do something along the lines like infernal hordes give you a chest for a GA item or 2. Well since we spending a lot time doing this now why not implement that to the world bosses where they guarantee at least a couple GA items at most. Itll make them feel more rewarding knowing you have a chance at some potentially decent upgrades.

    In general I think it could be a nice system to have some special bosses that you fight more or less independent of your build and gear. But this would need to apply to boss damage as well.

    world bosses need a health gate mechanic similar to andariel and the shielded enemies. force players to engage mechanics to make the bosses vulnerable to damage or make resilience only active when a boss isnt stunned

    The biggest problem with D4 is that there is no focus on "challenge". It's all just farming and setting up your build properly then mindlessly pressing buttons.

    Boss needs to spawn a ton of demons to fight alongside them. Make it a fun encounter

    They should just take the log of your damage. So everyone deals roughly within the same order of magnitude damage but if you’re 1000x stronger than everybody else, you’d still do noticeably better.

    I like this a lot. World bosses are GROUP content and it hope it stays that way. The fact that two people with crazy gear were able to down him with 5min left is pretty much perfect imo. Could even buff the resilience a bit. Maybe in near BiS gear it should be possible to solo a WB.
    I also reeeally wish they implemented Tormented boss damage stacking mechanic for world bosses. If you get hit by their big telegraphed attacks, you get a stack. Eventually you die if you get hit too much. Would make it even harder.
    Also, up the rewards from these guys. Should at least be tormented Duriel/Andariel levels of loot. Add more cool stuff happening when they stagger like the goblins from Avarice.

    I think it should decay based on health segments and there damage and rate of doing mechanics should go up as the dr decays

    The problem with world bosses is that they are boring. This fight should feel like a battle. I think it should spawn mobs, elites and minor bosses so fight would be more intense.

      Ashava fight is rly cool, we saw that during the closed beta and was the best experience I had in this game by far. The problem now is that the boss has no dmg, so you can just face tank everything

    It felt horrible in WT 1 and 2, when people don't have blast builds or anything really.
    I couldn't play day 1 so missed the initial wave of active players, I had a pre-50 WT 2 world boss with myself and another CL build sorc both 35+ as well as 2 pre lvl 10 moochers (randoms not firends or in a party), and I feel like because of the carries the boss fled (15 minutes of fighting) at 1-2% health left... Total waste of time.

      Its not about loot tables, its about the fantasy. A worldboss is supposed to be a cool big fight, but they were a Joke the past seasons. This is a big improvement on how world bosses feel

      @@NapFloridian The longest it's taken me so far is about 6-7 minutes and that's with people between the ranks of 20-40. I'd rather that than someone killing the boss before it spawns. I think they should make it how it was before if you're solo, but if it's a group this works better IMO.

      @@op-physicshow is this a cool fight? There’s no mechanics at all. Your build and level don’t matter. The “fantasy” is just staring at a health bar that goes down at a rate proportional to how many people are fighting the boss. That’s not engaging, it’s not immersive. I’m not a wowhead but come on, they could have at least taken some inspiration from there

    I love waiting for my loot, resilience is the best thing ever.
    (This is 100% sarcasm) I'm fine with a one minute fight, but I killed the 10 for the season journey and I have zero intention of doing them ever again until this goes away, or is severely reduced.

    This needs to be tuned down but boss abilities need to be auto 1shots. Fights should last like 2-5 minutes and people should need to dodge stuff and not just face tank it, for it to be more fun

    Its a world boss, it supposed to be one of strongest mobs plus this change allows people to actually make it in time to kill it while in past when log in and see message world boss spawning in x region it's already been killed by someone who one shot it as soon as it spawned before that message showed up on your screen. So I like this change, i'd be happy for them to keep it as it stands now.
    If they nerf its resiliance at all in future then at most it should be a 1% drop off in resiliance per 1% health lost so starts at 100%, when it's at for example 50% health its resiliance has dropped to 50% etc and at 1% health it only has 1% resiliance left. It should NOT be lose 1% resliance per 1 second as wudi suggests. But like I said I am very happy to leave it as it is now with no nerfs.

      @@feldon27 I highly doubt it. Even though we saw screenshots where the base damage is reduced by somewhat like 80%, this does not change much. Base damage is not the problem in this game, it is somewhat reasonable, the problem is the insane scaling you can get on top of that base damage, so the numbers will still stay insane in the range of at least millions.

    They did this because they haven't balanced they game and all the classes and skills. Some builds was doing and is doing way to much damage so they added tormented bosses, the pit and infernal hordes because nightmare dungeons, uber bosses and world bosses was to easy. Nightmare dungeon tier 100 is a joke. It's way to easy and reward 4 legendaries. In pre-season tier 100 was hard.
    It really doesn't matter if we are doing 1k damage or 100 billion. It's about yow fast we can kill monsters. But some streamers and players like big damage numbers.

      Not that easy for most players, apparently. Now that the boss doesn't insta die it's funny seeing how often people die repeatedly to the same attacks and fail to learn the patterns.
      I agree that time consuming doesn't equal challenging. They could have made it hard and only take 2 minutes (or increase the reward significantly). I wish the boss fights were mechanically complex. I guess they have to balance for those people that can't be bothered to move out of a slow attack with a long wind up.

    I don't like the new WB fights, too boring. The new resilience should be toned back a bit and the WBs need to be more threatening, give them stacking damage or something. That way it's not just mindlessly following them around holding one button pressing the others on cooldown.

    I dont bother with world bosses. For what? I get better and more items somewhere else, and faster also. For money / Tree? I have the hell compasses for that. 10 minutes = 100 million gold. I dont build a super strong character just for my damage to get normalize and nerfed into the ground xD Worldbosses are useless and have no place in the game right now, no in the way they are designed and how they reward for a kill.

    I know this is definitely a hot take but World Bosses should be so hard, you can fail them. They need need 10× the health an at least 5x the damage.
    You SHOULD be scared of their attacks, you SHOULD be worried if you even have the DPS, you SHOULD be worried if there aren't enough people, YOU should be preparing for them and grouping up for them.
    That being said, the way they went about it with the resilience is not it. The world boss should start with 99% damage reduction and lose 1% every 10 seconds. By the time the 15 minutes is up, you will be doing about 90%~ of your damage.
    Maybe it's just me but I never did these fights for the loot or the Whispers. I do them because I like the fights and the betas made them seem really fun when it got down to the wire and your team is trying to still kill them as they are trying to escape when the timer already ran out.
    These one and done fights are lame as hell and only benefit the casuals and the ADHD kids. 😂
    Side note, they should make the World Bosses hourly, because I like fighting them and it would also benefit the people with lame responsibilities who can't play all day.

      I have to agree I know that everything in D4 is purely about efficiency now but I show up to every world boss now just to do the fight knowing the rewards will be mid. I enjoy it feeling like an actual WB where as before it wasn't worth it to me because the rewards were meh and the thing got one shot.

      Balance is not there for it. In eternal I've been to like 4, only once there was people to dps it. The others I spent 5 minutos to lower only to 2 bars of hp, then decided to drop it. Likely the resilience would be better being dynamic somehow

    Yeah I like that the boss doesn't just instantly die, but I think this still needs some work, not a fan of this communist damage scaling. If I'm actually strong and I press my buttons correctly, I want to actually contribute more damage, otherwise might as well just auto-attack the boss the whole time

    What happened to the mechanic that they had in Season 0 where there was a DPS check for world boss, and if you couldn't kill it in, it would just walk off the screen

      its still there, its the 15 minute timer
