Great video, I truely wish I could sit down with you and learn. I have some large ships to build but I am learning on the small ones and watching your video has shown me so much. I know I will wear it out watch it over and over again. Thank you so much young lady.
I'm specifically making these videos for beginners to show that actually three-masted models are easier to build than the ones the manufacturer offers for beginners. Because the smaller the model, the more difficult it is sometimes to build...
Olha, you are so talented and clever with these builds. I really enjoy watching your work. Thank you for putting together this channel. It’s a nice relaxing kind of fun. ☺️
Nice. The Amati kits look great. I'll have to get one because I see the bulkheads look heavy to add the planking, compared to some. The ship I'm starting now has plywood and sometimes separates when sanding.
Just an amazing work again Olha !! At first i did not understand why you were marking the decks, but after that it made total sense. Always enjoy watching your videos and I do really appreciate it that you take your time ti show us how to build an outstanding ship. It is relaxing and so nice to see your craftsmanship and ability to work on your models.
Thank you very much! This is my disadvantage - I never knew how to explain why or how to do this or that... Probably that's why I chose the camera as a tool just to show if I can't explain...
Very informative and well filmed. A significant help for this part of the construction which is not easy for beginners and even the most advanced. Thank you so much!
Hi, Olha, you're fabulous!!! I'm trying to understand how you determine how much to taper a plank--are you doing it purely by sight & estimation? And can you please elaborate on how you knew when to insert a stealer when you were only test laying a single plank at a time? (12:58 minute mark of the video) Hope this question makes sense...
This is to make planking easier. Additionally, it increases the gluing area, and you can drive the nail where you need it, and not just on the bulkheads...
@ 4:49 you refer to "the borts" in the closed captions (which everyone should turn on, they are very educational). Is that a Russian term? I'm asking because the large numbers that are painted on either side of a Russian (or Soviet) military aircraft's nose are commonly called "Bort numbers". I always wondered where that term came from.

I use nails that are usually included in the kits! These are regular 1/2 inch sewing pins. Depends on what wood you use! They only work for linden and basswood...
Olha, I enjoy your videos immensely. I do have a question on your use of a soldering iron. What exactly does this accomplish and what is the liquid you use to wet the planks with? Thanks!
Thank you very much! Steaming with a soldering iron is only to form the planks in the right shape. It was ordinary water so that the planks would not burn...
Mesmerizing and masterful. You make it look so easy. Is there a reason you prefer using pins and glue and not using cyanoacrylate? I’m just starting my first build and this is something I’m trying to figure out.

I have 2 more questions: 1) What type/brand of glue do you use? I see references to PVA but there are so many. I use Elmer's Wood Glue but it is too thick. 2) What is the tool you use to scrape away excess glue squeeze out? Thanks.
Elmers is a good option. On this model I use Twitterbond II (but it is yellow after drying) and PVA standard D3 (transparent after drying). I scrape off the excess glue with an old sharpened file.
