The "Veteran" Fire Chief should get the boot. To be in that position and not have done a RISK ANALYSIS that shows that GAP in training? No excuse. One of the largest ports in America! Ask LAFD if they are trained for this.
Have we confirmed whether Newark FD had any training in shipboard firefighting? I would expect that they didn't.
He’s got some explaining to do the members shouldn’t have been up there!
I like how both fdny and NFD come together and communicate no one throws rank or tries to over step an idea or plan, the main focus is getting their brothers out of harms way my condolences to the two firefighters and their respective families

With all do respect it’s what they do! They go into empty buildings. So just untie the ship push it out to sea and let it burn. Sounds to me like not enough training or procedures were not followed. RIP

My deepest condolences to the families of the fallen heroes and their brothers and sisters .... ships fires are always very dangerous special Ro-Ro and vehicle carriers .... You don't know what kind of cargo onboard (Cars, trucks, general cargo, equipment) plus these kinds of vessels are like building with several levels inside it's like a death trap.
Dam, shipboard fires are rough. So sorry!!!

Safety last. Profits first. I used to work this job! We loaded these dangerous unsafe cars that would fail inspection. So what to do? Greedy shippers sell these unsafe cars to Africa because they cant afford better! Im glad none of my union brothers & sisters died but these 2 brave smoke eaters are gone! For unsafe profits! Coast Guard you must investigate fully!

Basically the crew and some fire hoses. I worked in the industry. These horrible dangerous unsafe cars are ticking time bombs. I hope Grimaldi Lines gets sued to death.
