A good example I like to do that demonstrates Tweek's idea at 1:09:47 is to allow myself to get grabbed by opponents depending on situations. If they are characters who have poor combo game at low percents or characters who do NOT have a kill throw, I allow myself to get grabbed by holding onto shield longer than normal. This option selects heavy damage/kill threats/combo starters from stray aerials/grounded hits. If they choose to grab me knowing that I set up shield, I factor that in knowing that they are willing to dash grab in those situations. Then in my head, this becomes a high risk vs low reward for them. Because if I get one read correctly in THOSE situations, I get a free upsmash as wolf or a grab combo and the only thing I lose is a weak grab game at low % or getting thrown off stage instead of dying at high %. So in a sense, I make myself vulnerable to grabs in certain situations to see if my opponent would take the high risk vs low reward. I keep that as a factor at all times I purposely hold shield longer.
DUDE I literally played my friend today, and I was WONDERING WHY I WAS LETTING ME GRAB HIM 🤣🤣🤣 Changed my perspective. Respect ✌️💪 (He plays wolf as well)
Growth mindset is the best mindset to have. Love these types of videos. Always labbing at the moment when I play because there's some tech I want to master before fighting again. Of course, there will be more to learn after that. Part of the fun. :)
I think the points yall made regarding asking questions from all sorts of players & not being afraid to ask questions are super important for the overall health and growth for the competitive scene. If collectively we started having more discussions rather than arguments & being less judgemental without caring so much about our own reputations or any of that nonsense, we'll multiply eachother's knowledge.
Ive never have waited for YT Content, but this one got me. Im addicted to this talk its so genius too listen to you guys. It would be awesome if you take 5 min for YT questions each episode !
I’ve been listening to these for background noise while I’ll work and I love having Haz on. Definitely contributes and make the podcast a lot more lively. You should def upload these like twice a week. Im not on who is crazy on frame data and what not but I love the discussions. Keep up the grind
I would love to see this, even just a general practice session with a tiny bit of perspective before hand on what he is specifically working on would some S tier content.
Actually so helpful. went into an arena and got murked by a young link (the character that tilts me the most online) and instead of the usual bitching about fire arrows aI thought about how I could get in better (playing greninja). All I'll say is that I got kicked from the arena after our second game...
On the subject of coaching and coachability, my dad has always preached "no emotion". If I'm watching your player cam exclusively during a set and not the actual game itself, I should not be able to tell whether you are winning or losing by your body language. Emotion distracts you from your goal, good bad or otherwise. Post set, let the emotions fly, but while you are playing, check your emotions at the door and keep the focus on your gameplan. Sports, esports, competition in general are very, very emotionally driven things, but locking yourself into the mindset of no emotion can work wonders. For anyone interested just watch n0ne play and you'll see what I mean.
42:57 what Charles mentioned here is for me also important, but I think many people will do coaching seassion, to ask for daily/weekly advices. In most cases they are midlevel players and they dont have a clue where to start. Last year i had so many bad habbits that it was actually pretty difficiult to think while playing the game
Just letting y'all know, the "tournament nerves" section isn't timestamped correctly, there are a couple spaces between the numbers. But otherwise fantastic podcast, learnt a lot. Thanks for the amazing content!
I'm so grateful for this not only educational and entertaining content with great players that have amazing chemistry together and bounce off off each other very well. I have a question/request for a future video or idea for a future concept, you mentioned IDJs and it's implications in not only your game play but the metas in general, I would like to actually see you preform it and how you practice it, because I NEED IT FOR MY CHARACTER and I just can't seem to get the hang of it, attack cancel coming along swimmingly, b reverse don't need it but simple enough, but IDJ I just don't understand why I can't get it even once(I know it's a 4 frame window but still) thanks for reading this comment, MK B META
I'm curious what you guys think of training mode mod packs? I feel like there's a bit of an over-reliance on it, esp when certain "true" combo situations still seem situational at best given a variety of factors (stage pick, character mu, player DI, etc).
. . . . . I took a break part way through this to go play pokemon showdown for . . reasons , xP , after coming back started missing Marcus' often slightly different perspective on things a ways in , doggo , great video
What is more valuable for smash: a 1 hr session with a top player, or five 1 hr sessions with a good player? Assuming the following: -good player is better at smash than you -The cost is the same for both options (five 1 hr good player price = 1 hr top player price) -coaching skill is not factored in -goal is to improve as much as you can in the long run
ugh, I pick both, you'll get more from multiple perspectives, probably prioritise the good player sessions because you can assumably get more out of interacting with the better player when you yourself are better & that will happen after more practice , so putting that one second seems better than doing that one first
Tweek have you thought about your Metafy sessions being like Izaw's lessons?? With their consent he will upload them to UA-cam. Would be awesome content
1. I’m assuming that it’s just a one week thing and Marcus is still a permanent member right? 2. How will podcasts work with guests now. Do you guys think there won’t be too much chaos if there are 5 or more people in one episode?
I assume that they're gonna do a sort of rotational thing. Like having the 4 dudes all together, and trying to schedule guests around when certain main members can't make it!
ex: ep 12 and 13 are just the 4 guys, ep 14 charles has family stuff or something like that so babow we got littlemacfan17 as our guest, or whoever they might invite on.
@@Exorcist_ali248 '.' I don't usually go on twitter either, but internet search engines are useful, looks like Salem & Samsora both got banned due to something relating to information from the Nairo/Cap.Zack case, looking further into the details it's that now that a court's ruled that what Zack did was assault the people who were very close to Zack & had full awareness of what happened visible in records of their communication with him are being considered complicit in it by TOs.
If you want to improve don't go to Twitter unless you want 8/10 threads to be full of no effort reactionary excuses and people that use them like mob deflection. Eg I didn't figure out counterplay thus you're bad and your character is cheesy and carried blablabla.
Haz being a co-host now is a massive W, keep up the great work yall

Came for the high level smash analysis, stayed for the Void cameos.
Howdy
@@dylanc5932 I mean people just want to do it cause they love to :). They want to talk about the game

Came for the high level smash analysis, stayed for the One Piece flag
"How Do You Move" may be a stupid question but "How do you Shmoove" is 100% valid
Indeed.
Love everytime you guys talk about improvement. Dope stuff
Love your content man, listening to Tweek is awesome though.
Even if they dont have any guest, VOID always do his cameo, thats nice
cant have an episode without the void cameo
that stuff about reacting in disadvantage instead of preemptive options was helpful thank you

Agreed full matches would be really great to have on UA-cam
he does already only highly edited tho cuz the sessions last like hours and then the video uploaded was like 10-25 minutes. but yea i agree
