- Enjoy the second and final part for our 2023 tour of Holland America's Lunch Buffet food at Lido Market. Be sure to watch part 1 ( • Holland America 2023 B... ) first to see what food that are present daily. In part 2 we show you the unique items, more vegan & gluten-free food, plus themes from other days. Just like part one, the food you see in this video are complimentary, included with your cruise fare.
The most popular themed buffet is fruit extravaganza. On our back to back cruises in July 2023, they had this theme once each cruise, and drew the biggest crowds. At the end of the video we'll give you our overall review of HAL's lunch buffet.

I love cruise food ! Especially new things that I would never make at home ! And my husband and I are great cooks, but on a cruise we try new things ! Your videos are so good and interesting !
Thank you very much Susan- happy to hear that you enjoy the videos! 😊 All the different food on cruise ships can give you inspiration for you and your husband to cook up new dishes as well!
Nice video. Great info. Lots of different food. Thanks and take care.
Thank you so much Karen- you too! 😊
Another great video. That looked like there was more variety than there was back in February 2023. There are always so many unusual dishes and on this video, so many versions of pork belly throughout the cruise.
Thank you very much! 😊 Yeah other than no more lobsters since early 2022, we thought HAL kept up the quality and selection otherwise, plus they added some new themes we didn't see before as well.
Thank you for another great video! Me and husband had lunch watching you guys.
Our pleasure- happy to hear you guys enjoyed it! 😊
Good job on pics and menus. Loved your input on that square tofu/soybean thing. It didn't look good either. I have learned a lot from your channel as to different foods from different countries. If I see a new one I look it up on Google.
Thank you very much- happy to hear it! 😊 Yes their "tofu" was really strange- just soy beans mashed together. I asked if the crew if those were homemade and they said yes.
Hi Guys, loved part 2, I am a sandwich lover, so I would totally go for the spicy chicken, avo & chipotle mayo and toast beef with horseradish. Delicious 🎉
Nice choices- they had some good sandwiches for sure! Thanks for the comment! 😊
well presented parts I & II looking fwd to trying them all on 23 night SEA to SYD Oct 24 cruise
Thank you very much! 😊 23 night Transpacific wow! Have an amazing time!
Another fun food video. I can vicariously enjoy the food through you guys and not worry about my weight 😅! Thank you!
Lol glad you enjoyed it! It is a lot of tasty food for sure. Thank you very much for the comment! 😊
very nice offerings. i would enjoy.
A lot of yummy food! 😋
Reading from your community page, I see you have been on over 40 cruises. What cruise line in your families opinion had the best overal Buffet and MDR. Have enjoyed many of your food videos, and the nice relaxing music to go along with it. Also a special shot out to your wife for critquing the many different dishes.
Thank you very much- glad you enjoy the videos! 😊 It's a tough call, but for overall combined food quality at the buffet AND main dining, it'd be a tie between Holland America, Cunard and Celebrity (on their newer Edge-class ships). Princess buffet lags those lines a bit, though their MDR was very good too.
@@TravelTouristVideos Much appreciated
Food looks and probably taste great but Joanne looks amazing !
Thank you so much JT! 😊
Great job on the foods and pics. I can enjoy the foods without calories. Thanks. One noticeable fact is that the portions are much much smaller so one might have to weather the crowds and hit the buffet a second time. Portion controlled now.
Thank you very much! 😊 Yes you can enjoy the dinner buffet as well, which is not nearly as busy as lunch or breakfas.
The fruit buffet looked amazing. For the main dish I would like the porcetta. I could tell it was not your favorite! The trick is to get a large enough serving that you get a good portion of the meat, not just the fat. The meat is very moist from the fat and slow roasting, and very flavorful from the herb stuffing. Very difficult and time consuming to make, I have only made it twice.
Yeah that fruit buffet was super popular- people really enjoyed it. Thanks for the tip on the porchetta! Yes that one was pretty fatty but quite flavorful. Pretty sure the talented chefs & cooks worked hard on that one as well.
Everything looked delicious
Lots of good eats 😋
I guess my standards are way too high. Looked like food offerings no better than the Country Buffet. If that's your definition of delicious, then so be it.
We have to try the slab bacon.
That was very fatty but tasty 😋
Great video as ever. I like watching your buffet videos the best. And i want to be foodie friends with your wife
Thank you very much! 😊 I'm sure she'd love to chat about the food with you if you ever bump into us on a cruise 🙂
Cant Wait to see the other videos 👀👀👀👀👀👀👀
Will be working on them- stay tuned 🙂
@@TravelTouristVideos 🤭
First view. First like 👍🏻
Thank you very much! 😊
I wanna try the taglog and red velvet ball and the morzella sandwiches
Nice choices 😋
That item at 15:02 which you identified as tofu looked like tempeh (a fermented soybean product).
Again, everything looked good! The banofee pie was cool and the blueberry pie was absolutely picture perfect (I hope it tasted as good as it looked). I was hoping Joann would try the fried fish on camera. Seems like they served it often so they probably have it perfected. I wonder how many TONS of salmon they go through on a 7 night cruise? 🤣
Yeah there was so much salmon, and when it came to cooking them they did a superb job. Those were some good looking pies baked daily as well. If I remember right, Joann did try the fried fish and thought the outside was crispy and the fish was moist on the inside. But we'll be sure to get that on camera next time. Thanks so much for the comment Sally! 🙂
Good? Really?
The fruit buffet looks really good. What itinerary was this?
These were from Baltic and Norway cruises
its such an injustice that holland america rarely sails from australia where i reside, they mostly sail from the US and Caribbean , i would do anything to go and experience just the great food on one of these cruises, but im not gonna fly half way around the world just to eat some great food.
They actually have many cruises around the world. For instance I see the Noordam in Australia for October of 2023 through January 2024.
@@TravelTouristVideos does each holland america ship has this great food on it?
Yes- from our experience being on several different HAL cruise ships, especially when it comes to the buffet & main dining. Though some of the older ships won't have a few of the eateries such as the Grand Dutch Café or the New York Pizza & Deli.
All these "good food" comments must be from bots. There's no way this food is anything to close anything I aspire to eat, nor to what cruise lines used to offer. Those were the days.
Well, you can't say there isn't a large selection. Just one small problem it's mostly designed for the American palet. Being from the UK I would more than likely resist 95% of it.
What kinds of things would you like to have been included on the buffet?
As an American, I'd say that a large portion of it definitely NOT designed for the American palate, though some of it is. It would be great for adventurous eaters, but is geared far more to far east tastes.
@@ericteneyck8691 Well I'm from the UK. I now live in the Far East. So my palate is vast. Why I said that a lot of it was designed for the Americans was most of it is stodge. Pasta, Noodles, Loaded Potatoes? Chips, Overcooked streaky bacon, Not forgetting all the sweet Cakes/Donuts. Some people from the UK would enjoy it but most wouldn't.
Wonder what the deal is with putting sour cream on all the different sliders? yuck
Yeah that was kind of interesting, but you can certainly have them make one without it
I thought it was mayo ??
@@evelynlivingston6761 All the descriptions of the various sliders included sour cream, as well as mayo.
Dutch style?
Don't know why all the food wasn't shown...instead showed the menu...please include pics of the food next time instead of a few....🤠
That's because most of them were shown in the "Available Daily" portion of part 1 🙂
I just don't understand why she has to smell the food or put her fingers to her nose all the time. Please don't show the videos where she smells the food before she eats it or puts her fingers up to her nose. Otherwise we love the videos. The husband has turned into a classic camera man. Ditch the wife smelling the food.
