Belagola means white pond
Shravana belagola means white pond of the Shravana
Shravana belagola is located in Channarayapatna, which is in Hassan district Karnataka
It is 144 kms away from b’lore and 83 kms from Mysore
This place is spread over two hills - Chandragiri and Vindhyagiri
Gommateshwara Bahubali statue is one of the tirthas for Jains
Tirthas means pilgrimage destinations
The statue is Gommateshwara for Kannadigas and Bahubali is for Jains
Gommateshwara statue is world’s largest monolithic statue
The statue is 58 ft tall
Mahamastakabhisheka is the important festival here and it happens in 12 yrs
The recent one was held in feb 2018 and the next one will be in 2030
During this festival, Bahubali statue is washed and rubbed with sandal wood paste, turmeric, water, sugar cane juice, rice flower, saffron, etc
There about 650-700 steps

Shoes are not allowed on the hill, you have to leave them at the start itself. So carry socks in summer season, thats most essential and missing in vlog.
