I was at that Reinhard Bonke Crusade that year in Lokoja.. I didn't even smell the drums 😂 sef.. I chop bench till crusade finish.. Igiiii I salute thee, boss..😊
On the issue of competition, it is a reflection of a deeper problem which is low self esteem. Being confident and comfortable in yourself is very important for every individual.
Wow I really appreciate 🙏 you touch stix and most especially oga victor mosugu. He is a good frnd of mine I love him n more grace. Tell him I will win him on PS4 or ps5 FIFA 24 😄😄🤣😂.

16:03 Great answer from Victor Mosugu on this question. The truth is as a community of drummers, we all learn from each other. No one knows it all and there's so many ideas that's yet to be discovered on this glorious instrument.

Okay this video should help - ua-cam.com/video/e2tDzrNXCc0/v-deo.htmlsi=qzWP-3wBVd0NEEab And another video on this topic you requested for, is dropping next week, so stayed tuned.
@@TochSticksMusic everybody has some level of stage fright. Most times is not because you’re an under-performer, it’s because of the importance you attach to what you do. No matter how seasoned athletes are, it’s always different when they play at the finals. Secondly, I know there’s a place for consistent hard work, but outrightly downplaying grace (or time and chance for non religious thinkers) in a very causal composure is a pointer to an inflated self. Grace may not really play out the way you think (maybe he thinks of skills - yes, you have to practice) how about the platforms that one does not deserve? The gigs you get in the presence of other “better” drummers? Many times we think we are the sole orchestrators of our fate ( life is too complex for that). You need both grace and labour. I love Mosugu and I’ve been listening to him for 7 years now (since 2017). No hard feelings.
Okay. Please read with a clear mind & not to argue. First of all you need to understand that your reality isn't another person's reality. If he said he doesn't have Stage fright, it's not your place to judge. You're not existing in his head so you don't know/understand how his mind is built. We've also had a guest previously on this channel that claimed that she doesn't have moments where she doesn't feel like practicing. As unreal as their claims might be, you have to understand that as humans we're not all wired the same. If someone claims he/she has an ability you do not possess, you should not see it as arrogance/pride. Secondly, I don't know what video you watched where he outrightly downplayed grace. I'm an ardent believer in the finished works of Christ & that should tell you that I don't joke with God's grace. However, this word grace has been bastardized alot. He (Victor Mosugu) stated very clearly that "God is his number one source" but God won't come down to do the work that you can/should do for yourself. He even used the Parable of the talents to explain the importance of work & how God himself is pleased with those that put in the required work in their God-given talent. Working hard is not ignoring grace. Working hard is actually participating in what God's grace has provided. The Bible even states that you should Study to show yourself approved not rely on Grace to show yourself approved. Grace makes opportunities available, but abilities sustains the opportunities. I'm tempted to say that you didn't watch this video entirely, or you might have watched this video with an already existing perception of him. Because I don't understand how what he said sounded as "Pride" to you.
@@TochSticksMusicYour comment makes sense. But to be honest, The body speaks more that words. I watched the interview till the end. There’s a thin line between confidence and pride (as much as I don’t like to use the word here). I’ve watched your interviews with Shaba, Marcus and other assortment of drummers. I’ve also seen these people in their baseline behaviours. I never bastardised grace. I’m sure you didn’t read my last comment on the codependency of grace and labour. But like same parable of the rich fool who said his labour has provided him wealth (which is actually true, because God didn’t come from heaven to plant the crop that filled his bans) we can also argue that he was a multiplier of what has been given, but irrespective pride was somewhere in the mix. There’s a kind of pride that comes with achievements, and people can even help you validate that. You alone have to check yourself. Let me leave that to your reasoning. Trying to fix a pitcher after it has been broken (by calling God your source after disregarding his ways) does not change anything. The question in the first place didn’t relate to grace or whatsoever (how did you build your speed?). I understand that he must have been pained at some time when maybe somebody or people consistently downplay his hard work (which I will never disregard) to luck, and he mistook it for grace - of course the test for humility is how much of you is Christ centred at the brink of pressure or glory. Like I said grace is multidimensional and we always expect It to show up in places we want ( you may reference my first post). Regarding stage fright. I still think there’s a nuance there to show superiority. He played for (or still playing for) house on the rock. The remark there and the conveyance of his message was totally off! Why the comparison? and in a dismissive way. Bro, there are better ways of convey his message that would not breed the spirit of contempt and arrogance amongst maturing Christian drummers. Words are powerful. The theme of his answer showed comparison from the beginning even when he talked about other drummers, saying that there are thing they could play and he’d never attempt it and thing he could play they can never do same. Flowed down to comparing Evang. Bonkie crusade to the Experience. Where in, somebody was trying to encourage you not be nervous about the crowd and in one statement here, you inflated yourself in both scenarios. I’m not just talking because I like to. I observed a pattern, that’s why I wrote. He may not be all that, but let’s give people a clear perspective please.
I wouldn't want this to turn into an argument, as this place isn't appropriate for that. Most of what you're saying is true, to you though. It's your thoughts. Not the reality. I've spoken to most of these guys at the top, & trust me, Mosugu turned out to be one of the most humble & down to earth ones so far. Dont mistake a person's confidence/high self esteem for pride. Nice one Mr Victor... Really learnt a lot. But didn't ask him about his off timing playing 😂
Somehow, I believe his answer to the "creativity question" should also answer this.
