It is what it is 😌 The shelves are Actually made of a sort of plywood that was once a wall in the distant past 🙂 Anyway thanks for your wholesomeness !
I am really thankful for this , Now i am gonna make raney nickel which will be helpful in hydrogenation . One question will it work like Pd and Pt or Ni has lower reactivity as a catalyst for hydrogenation than palladium.
I've not tryed it yet but in theory it should work, even tho it's not technicaly raney I suggest you do some tests and see yourself and maybe make a video if it works 😁
@@jam_kemist3986 i just checked on net and i found that raney nickel needs a higher temperature and pressure for hydrogenation and is least selective. Pd/C hydrogenates under mild conditions, more selective than nickel as it doesnt hydrogenates benzene rings, but is costly.

You can get some Argon gas to transfer the powder in an inert atmosphere. It can be bought at hardware stores as a supply for steel welding, or if you don't want/need much of it, and want to omit all the expensive adapters and regulators that one needs for handling high-pressure gas cylinders, there's also Argon available in regular spray cans to protect wine from oxidation. In the latter, the price per liter is higher, but it can be used as-is, making it the more economical option in small scale & seldom use.
I'm going to France in a month, and I'm learning absolutely everything about French culture from your videos alone. Is this an accurate representation of what I'll get when I land in L'ile de France?

Do you know of a similar technique to make pyrophoric powders of more reactive metals like zinc and magnesium? Do you think pyrolysis of the oxilae salts could still work if done in a vacuum? If not, what salt?
I know you can precipitate the metals this way but I never verified that it would be pyrophoric, if so, that's good news ! Yes I believe I've heard or Seen someone use at least partial vacuum to avoid oxidation, would love to have a vacuum pump myself. Anyway thanks for watching !
Can it actually be used as a substitute for nickel in the hydrogenation of gasoline? How can the catalyst be recovered after hydrogenation back to nickel?
It can in theory be used for certain hydrogenations but not all of them so you'll have to check. By definition it is a catalyst so it's not consumed by the reaction, so it should be easily recoverable, you can use a magnet since Ni is ferromagnetic
Thank you for the response. I tried to prepare nickel nickel from melting nickel metal with aluminum, but it did not work. Should the nickel be melted in the molten aluminum first or with cooperation?
@@fadiyosef4452 I don't think the order is that important, maybe you didn't heated enough ? Nickel itself melts at 1400 iirc, but it melts at 1200 as a eutectic with the aluminium. Btw if you want to talk more about it, come in the discord !

The sheer excitement he expressed when he managed to split the nickel in half was great.
I expected nickel to be a bit like iron, but it was so hard 💀
Underrated channnel

I've many nickel catalysed reductions at standard temperature and pressure, so I think it's still worth it

Are you telling me that if i throw pyrophoric nickel at a parisien they won't understand my reference???

It looks like pyrophoric for real, but did you check if it is active in hydrogenation ?
I did not but I encourage anyone to try and show the test on youtube, I might try in another video tho but I don't needed it at this time
