  • Riding dirt bikes in Glamis sand dunes. Rode to the infamous "China Wall" hill climb and played around a bit. It was about 95 degrees outside so most people were trying to stay cool.
Since this video is starting to get watched a lot I thought I'd make a short list of some tips for riding dirt bikes safely in the sand dunes.
As much fun as it is to shred through the sand full speed on a dirt bike it's also dangerous as hell if you're not 100% conscious of what's going on around you at all times. Notice how as I approach the China Wall I'm looking both ways, left and right to make sure there isn't someone else going 100 miles an hour that might not see me getting ready to hit the slope.
Don't get tunnel vision when riding dirt bikes in the dunes, be aware of other vehicles that might pop up at the crest of the dunes and slow down as you get to the top using your momentum to carry you over the other side.
Here are some quick tips off the top of my head for riding dirt bikes fast in the sand dunes weather in Glamis or Saint Anthony Dunes in Idaho, or even riding dirt bikes in the Oregon dunes. It really applies to any dune riding.
Tip #1) Put a Flag on Your Bike and Ride within your means.
Tip #2) Always assume other riders/drivers either can't or don't see you.
Tip #3) Assume It's 100% Your Responsibility to stay far enough away from danger to avoid it.
Tip #4) Never assume someone else sees you coming or cares if they run you over.
Tip #5) Get most of your speed BEFORE the hill and use the hill itself to slow you down at the top.
Tip #6) Slow down as you get to the top of the dune and let your momentum carry you over.
Tip #7) Always ride with at least 1 other person because sh*t happens.
Tip #8) Make sure your dirt bike has full coolant and oil.
Tip #9) Put a paddle tire on the rear not only for extra traction but to keep your bike from getting too hot from constant excessive wheel spin everywhere you go.
Tip #10) I set my tire pressure around 12 - 15 lbs in the sand dunes because anything more than that just makes the tires dig into the sand like cookie cutters and makes it harder to balance and turn.
If you agree with anything on this top 10 list please do me a favor and like this video and subscribe to my channel. If you have any other tips that you think might help save a life when it comes to riding dirt bikes, atvs, quads, or anything else in the dunes feel free to comment below.

A dirt bike with a paddle tire can climb anything better than any other vehicle in the sand.
