While I don’t understand how can 2 to 3 minutes of extra football of putting in good performance would be enough to overthrow the one that played most of this match, far better than him.
There are times when some teams lost, but a player from the losing team, was easily the best player on the pitch, but because his team lost, he won’t get the man of the match. Man of the match/MOTM is a reward that should go to the best player from the pitch, not the best player from the winning team

@@gravy3858 I never seen the losing team for a player to get the MOTM. For example in that match Garnacho was by far better on the pitch with the performances compared to Palmer. Palmer got another penalty kick with another goal which was well made to complete a hattrick from 2 penalties and one from open play. But in that match overall Garnacho was the best player on the pitch. They were about to give it to him if it wasn’t for the last 3 minutes of the match, which makes no sense. Palmer was very good in that match, but not better than Garnacho

Firstly I think although Palmer was excellent it was Garnacho who deserved the POTM even if Chelsea won (rather robbed) the match. We should keep in mind, Palmer scored 2 goals from penalties (not that penalties are a joke but it seems Palmer was the POTM because he had a goal more than Garnacho)
Secondly, although here in the video they are mistakenly calling it 111 minutes but I have seen the match, the ref gave 8 minutes of added time and despite the fact it were 98 minutes already with Man U winning 3 - 2, the ref continued the match. How on earth can someone score an equalizer at 100 minutes? Drama doesn't end here, the referee wanted to gift Chelsea the win so badly he allowed them to still continue the game and just as soon as Palmer scored at 101 minutes, the referee felt it is the correct time to blow the whistle. Shame on the British referees

@@everything2042this is nothing new. 5-6 minutes added time is the minimum these days when a game is close. They always add more on for the tight games. I think United did have a player down with a head injury for a few mintiese anyway though so wasn't surprised at all with the amount they added. Also man of the match has always been a pointless team. They always give it to the winning team and the underdog team if the game is a draw. Palmer probably did play better than Garnacho overall though. Thought he has some really good moments even without the goals.
The Premier League doesn't decide the winner, it's the fans that vote.

Sponsors, commentators or even the home team can announce a MOTM, but formally speaking in the Premier League it is decided by a fanbase vote which close 15 minutes AFTER the game is over. But of course 15 minutes after the game is over nobody is watching anymore so the sponsors and advertisers already name it while game is still on (tho it is non-binding).

They gave the pen in the 99th minute. There were 8 added. Even after that, why wasn’t the whistle blown immediately. It was after the city game, so why not here. It it ok for City to get a point but not United? The full time should have been blown immediately after the penalty was taken. There was no way every player could stay fit and firing for 101 minutes. That is now two games in less than a week where our players have played 101 minutes. No wonder we have so many injuries…
They gave the pen in the 95th minute. It took 3 minutes for the pen to be taken so all of that time is supposed to be added on to stoppage time. Learn the rules of the game.
