Thank you for reacting to all 4 of the performances in the Popspring video at one time instead of splitting them up. Glad that you enjoyed the video. All of their originals are great. The last song, "Water" was written by Kirstin, Kevin and Audra Mae. It is touching.
Hi. thank you so much. 3 originals. They are in a stadium in Tokyo at the pop spring festival. Who else can fill a stadium , put on such a popular concert that part of it was filmed and played on MTV/Tokyo , all, with no instruments. They are beyond talented. Kirsty and Mitch are dressed in Japanese Anime
Great reaction! A few notes: * Many of their fans are musicians or singers, so when they sing along, it actually sounds like a huge choir. * This video was created by the concert series, so the filming and sound are much better than the usual phone recordings by fans. * They rarely dress exactly the same, but often use a color scheme, and this one is black and white. * When Avi sings his lowest notes, the whole arena shakes (I can vouch for that!), and he used to blow out speakers. The crew learned, and got more powerful sound systems that could take it. * Three of these songs - Cracked, Can't Sleep Love and Water are their original songs, and only the Michael Jackson medley is a cover. * This recording of Water is one of my all-time favorite live performances. They all sound amazing, and the backdrop is incredible. I saw them do this live, and it was the highlight of the concert for my friends and me.
Glad you enjoyed their live performance goosebumps are a compliment. The 1st 'Cracked', the 2nd ''Can't Sleep Love' and the 4th 'Water' are originals. The 3rd is just legendary ... For example upbeat originals are 'Coffee In Bed' with Matt and 'Love Again' with Avi, a slow 5-part-harmony original with Avi is 'Run To You'. But all their originals are so well written and put together. Unfortunately some are without a video so that they are very underrated.
Any song Kirsten writes is deep and thoughtful. They all are incredible song writers. Their talents and gifts are endless. Thanks for your reaction. Their Popspring performance turned me from a fan to a superfan. Their live performance is as good or better than studio version. Magical rainbow unicorns. 😊
Another performance that was great - their version of Seasons of Love from the musical Rent, aired for a 4th of July concert. Just loved the way they performed this song.
You should watch these live performances if you like to see live: Hallelujah from their NBC Christmas Special, Misbehavin on the Honda stage and their return to the Sing Off with I Need You're Love (3 of my favorites). Not a live performance - La La Latch (although there is a live performance on a Dutch radio station but the studio version is so good).
While I've never seen them dressed "as a group" (and have a hard time imagining what that would look like, given Mitch's fashion sense, LOL!), they will often have a sort of "color theme" on what they wear on-stage. Generally they try to wear clothes that won't distract the audience too much from the music. In this one it seems to have been simple black-and-white; I've seen in comments that Kirstin and Mitch are actually dressed as anime characters, since this was filmed in Japan and both are big anime fans. Watching this was the first time I heard "Water", co-written by Kirstin, and it's since been one of my favorites of their originals. She has really seemed to blossom in the past few years, both in her confidence in her performance, and in her song-writing skills. FYI: All of their "Evolution of..." videos are basically live performances. They perform each of them several times, all in one take, no cuts, no edits, and then decide which of the takes to publish. It will be very interesting to see your reaction to the "studio" version of Michael Jackson, and see if you can detect any differences.
Avi is a basso profondo, the lowest a voice can go. To get a really good idea, watch A Ha live at the Star Vista in Singapore. It's a fan video (so no copyright claims), and the sound isn't top quality, but he hits a super low note towards the beginning that blew out his speaker. And then the rest is Mitch going off the chain. Popspring is the best version of Can't Sleep Love there is. You also might want to check out Home Free (another a capella group) doing Ring of Fire. Avi guests on it, and it's like dueling bassists. He (Avi) also released a new album last week, Floating on a Dream, that's just gorgeous.
All except the Michael Jackson medley are PTX originals As for Scott - he is kinda the unofficial leader of PTX. It's certainly his brainchild as he put the band together. And he does have the most leads over their entire career for a few reasons - and it's nothing to do with ego. Firstly his vocal range in very broad - the man covers everything from bass to baritone to tenor and in terms of musical styles he's also the most versatile. Secondly he seems to have better stamina on tours - it's often either Mitch or Kirstin who has trouble with keeping their voices throughout an entire tour. and thirdly he had much more experience and confidence on stage - especially in the early years. Kirstin especially preferred to stay more in the background - she's really blossomed in the last 3-4 years and as a result we now get a lot more Kirstin leads.
Kirstin has performed on Broadway in Kinky Boots so she has definitely broadened her experience. They all have solo projects as well as their incredible work together. Amazingly, I have never heard them record a song where I was disappointed in their arrangement and I truly love their originals. Their self-titled album that featured Can’t Sleep Love is still one of my all time favorite albums.
It's always good to see their originals appreciated! They are so good! I think the Evolution of Michael Jackson is practically identical to their studio version, plus there is dancing, and stuff, so I think you actually saw the better version first, lol. Reacting to it a second time isn't a bad thing, though. You're bound to catch different things. Great reaction!
During their Evergreen Christmas tour in 2021 they performed "Joyful, Joyful" which is an amazing display of their talent, especially Mitch. I recommend it. It is also a live performance. They generally wear lots of neutral colors, so the audience focuses more on their music and not on their wardrobe. All the songs are original except the MJ Evolution. "Water" is Kirstie's creation.
That last song, WATER was written by Kirstin and Kevin.. (My favorite as well!) They have a LOT of wonderful originals, some without videos.. one of their latest incredible ones is PEDALS.
To be fair, they do vocally layer their professionally produced videos. Certainly some more than others, but a trained ear can hear it if it’s there. However, all the layers are still them. They also can reproduce most of their professional recordings live, with only a few that they recorded without having a live arrangement in mind. Scott actually mentioned that in an interview a few years ago about some of their more recent originals - that it was going to be an effort to come up with a live arrangement. Regardless, you can’t argue with the vocal talent - none of that is artificial or unrealistically enhanced on recordings. They also have some of the most original arrangements - even for covers - especially of their medleys like the Evolution series. At the end of the day PTX is the most successful a cappella group out there because they learned how to balance true a cappella with mainstream appeal.
Ya my fav was that last one as well. It was touching. The Lucky Ones LP is all originals. Start with "Happy Now". The entire album is about positivity and support. It really is incredible..
The event was in Japan. These particular costumes are a nod to Japanese pop culture, especially Mitch and Kirstin, who love manga and anime. The colors, yes, significant - the rhythm section (Kevin and Avi) are in black. Kirstin and Mitch, much shorter than Scott (although both wear heels) and super cute (this is before Mitch's elegant phase), are in white. And Scott, tall and frequently on lead, is dashing in both colors. This version of their original Can't Sleep Love is my favorite: the official video doesn't have the rap, and the alternate audio recording has a guest artist on the rap. Here Mitch gets to do it. It's funny, you made the comment about Scott being the leader just before Mitch hits his featured performance! 😄 The moves onstage often set up a featured performance: Mitch moves to the center for his Can't Sleep Love solo. Kirstin is actually very introverted and thinks a lot about issues (so in his own way is Mitch). Subscribed for more PTX.
Well, you got me, lol…I subbed. The Pop Spring concert is ADDICTING…their originals are fantastic! If I’m not mistaken, it’s the only video of Mitch doing the rap part on Can’t Sleep Love…Scott’s Cracked and Kirstie’s Water…awesom as well! Great reaction

Avi is a basso profundo, an operatically trained bass. His voice is just that deep.

Yay my favorite!!! Especially Can’t Sleep Love, Sassy Mitch is the best!
Check out happy now, be my eyes and the lucky ones. All from their newest album. All originals.

Their originals are top notch!! Highly suggest their originals Coffee in Bed, Happy Now, Love Again, Sing, Ref and See Through!!

Except they *do* do the red, green, white, gold, and silver scheme for the holiday concerts.
Recommend their cover of Shallow.

Please react to their original - Sing!
Water is my favorite, by far... the last song, a PTX original!
It's seriously amazing
Cracked is an original, Can't Sleep Love also original and Water also their's.
Long, but well worth it...!
I wouldn’t be surprised if Scott’s height had something to do with his wardrobe. He not only often takes the lead, but he is the tallest member also.
I just found your channel for the PTX reactions. Please do more.
I'm definitely going to be doing more soon soon I'm in the process of moving 😀
I've hopefully got a new logo coming out soon 😊 as well as potential merch 😁
Ohhh... the "Mitch slap"....
