ua-cam.com/video/otJZPUCwyOM/v-deo.html "The Hammer of Wrath" LOVEBITES consistently surpass their studio sound in LIVE performance, even though all (LIVE & studio) are mixed & mastered by Mikko & Mika at Finnvox in Finland I like the LIVE with the guitarists panned & cymbals/drums spread. "Break The Wall" has been likened to Slayer, but has a slow-blues guitar solo that follows Midori's destruction of "The Wall" & transitioning mood for Miyako: ua-cam.com/video/5Pc0XK0lNmU/v-deo.html
The two things that sets killswitch apart from most metal bands is the vocals and their sound, each song sounds grandiose and angelic but also contain a dark and heavy sound.
I see Howard Jones, I click, no matter what. I love his voice. Edit: BTW Shred, you should check the Swedish guys from ORBIT CULTURE. They're awesome and deserve more attention.
Saw these guys back in 2013 in Ft Lauderdale, just after Jones left and Jesse rejoined, it was one of the best shows Ive ever been to hands down and that was almost 10 yrs ago!
Glad to see Shred reviewing KSE. I always thought As I Lay Dying were a close competitor for best HD live sound back in the day. Very few 2000's era metalcore bands managed to provide a live experience as tight as their recordings but KSE and AILD always delivered
Not wanting to burst anyones bubble, but the live performance title really should go to Rammstein. Their shows are epic to watch and the music is pretty flawless
I do also love Dragonforce’s most recent live album, In the Line of Fire. When these guys say they’re extreme power metal, they mean it and they did an AMAZING job! To contrast, I think that Twilight Dementia by Dragonforce is a trash live album. Even Herman agreees: they didn’t have the chops at that point to pull off some of their hardest playing easily live off the floor, ZP’s screaming makes nails on chalkboards sound deep and boomy, and the mix is just bad. I love Dragonforce, but even I’ll admit Twilight Dementia was a rough spot.
I remember having this on DVD and it's a great show for sure. If you want to see crowd participation, check out Iced Earth "Alive in Athens" from around this same era. I can't think of a better live show.
I saw KSE at The Boiler Room in 2001 I think it was. Believe it or not, they opened for Hypocrisy, and there may have been 100 people there. It was my first metal show, and they absolutely kicked ass. A few months later me and my buddy went to wal mart and I noticed some of the band members in the store. They were just making a pit stop in Bessemer, AL, but they signed a shirt and hat that I was wearing and we went on our merry way. They took off soon after that, but Ill always remember them as some hard working dudes that play kick ass music. They paved the way for alot of groups.
Man I literally woke up to this notification, I've got some kind of rheumatological issue that's still being diagnosed that means I usually take ages to be able to get out of bed. As soon as I heard killswitch though I was headbanging in bed 🤣. I'm up in a record breaking 10 minutes, I'll regret it later but I don't even care 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
I wouldn't be able to say if i thought they were the best live metal band until i was able to see them live. But this performance was absolutely amazing. Great song too. A couple of friends and i use to play this song all the time when we would jam. One friend on drums, another on guitar, and myself on bass. We were missing another guitarist and a singer, but it was still a fun song to play.
Howard Jones is an absolute powerhouse of a live singer. I saw KSE on an old roadrunner tour back in the day with Chimaera, the whole show was banging.
Please react to Children Of Bodom - Hatecrew Deathroll Live in Stockholm They're the coolest Finnish band and my all time favorite thanks to the one and only " WildChild " Alexi Laiho. RIP Legend \m/
It would be really be great, if children of bodom will be given a chance. Like their first album (something wild). I would recommend checking out to lake bodom and red light in my eyes part 1 and 2. Or the Are you dead yet album. Like the, if you want peace prepare for war and Punch me I bleed. Damn, this two tracks from this album. Was a, headbang until your head cuts off.
Although I really love Killswitch engage, I never been to a more intense show than Blind Guardian. Like one celebration of one family - and the audience is engaged in EVERY song! I'd say - give 'em a try, Shred, bet you won't regret it!
Yea probably the best modern metal band. Even if you don't particularly like their music, they sound amazing live, their performances are always on point and the put on a great show with lots of energy. Killswitch is definitely the quintessential metalcore band.
you should check out times of grace. it has Adam d doing drums guitars bass and vocals with original killswitch engage singer Jesse leach singing as well. Adam also recorded and mixed those 2 records.
i don't know i saw Living Sacrifice live in Harpo's in Detroit,Mi and they are amazing live they were with Cannibal Corpse,Dark Angel and couple of other bands
These guys are good no doubt. The only let down no guitar solo. The guitar players are more than talented enough to put in a soaring solo that just takes you higher. My only critique other than that its solid. Would you call it power metal? Good band I would like to see them for sure.
Killswitch Engage is one of the best metalcore bands. Try to listen or react to My Last Serenade with Jesse Leach. Alive or Just Breathing is one of the best metalcore albums ever made
Wow a set specifically set up to record for a DVD sounds good live? Who would have guessed. Now show the audio from the 200 capacity bumblefuck bar, middle of nowhere, USA.
LAMB OF GOD AND HATEBREED are 2 great mive acts as well. Also AS I Ly dying..Those I put up there with Killswitch..I say they are l tier 1 level live bands..Font get much better then those live.. I want yo go see Gorjira live have not seen them ..Yhey are on bucket list of shows for me..
sodom is probably the most underated band live, and just in general. they still sound as good as they did 10 years ago live and they are one of the oldest thrash bands out there. there 2007 wacken performance sounds almost exactly like their studio recording on the 11th album. Their christ passion live performance of that show is better than the original studio recording imo.
Sounds too emo for me but they are really good, if it is for this type of melo music I will stick with insomium and Coheed and Cambria, Mastodon is also cool.
Obviously KSE is an enormous sounding band and this was recorded in 2005, if that says anything about how they were live! Next up, the greatest metal band of all time, Avenged Sevenfold and Shadows Fall!
There is one band that I've seen do their set before Slayer and before Megadeth at two different shows four years apart and honestly blew them both away: Lamb of God.
Lamb of God is generic Metalcore. So bland. Saw them with In Flames and Megadeth on Saturday. In Flames blew LoG away. At least their vocalist occasionally had real vocals, not angry Cookie Monster.
Sound good like Killswitch by giving me your soul!

I’m almost 50 years old and I only recently found KSE , Trivium and other related bands , and I can’t believe How much I love it
Hell yeah man!
Two of my favorites. Never a bad time to find them.
Jesse leach has also stepped up his live performances in recent killswitch engage concerts.
Just saw them with ABR. Seen them 4x total. They’re always on point.
Same
Same here, after a two year wait! Third time seeing them, once with Howard, once with Jesse, this time both! For last few songs anyhow, and LTT!
FUCK YEAH! Someone mentioning this underrated gem
Love this bands guitar work. They’re absolute riff monsters.
Saw these guys back in 2013 in Ft Lauderdale, just after Jones left and Jesse rejoined, it was one of the best shows Ive ever been to hands down and that was almost 10 yrs ago!
Perhaps some Alexi Laiho/Children of Bodom love Shred? Would love to see some Children of Bodom track breakdowns
Saw them right before Slipknot, and I just loved what Killswich put on. They sounded awesome. Great band
Glad to see Shred reviewing KSE. I always thought As I Lay Dying were a close competitor for best HD live sound back in the day. Very few 2000's era metalcore bands managed to provide a live experience as tight as their recordings but KSE and AILD always delivered
I really do love this band with both singers and the live performance is top tier I've always been amazed by there guitar work
Wow!! This kicks ass! I'd never heard them before. I always thought they were one of those bands with the cookie monster vocals. I stand corrected
Your chosen example here is the greatest metal performance ever recorded.
Not wanting to burst anyones bubble, but the live performance title really should go to Rammstein. Their shows are epic to watch and the music is pretty flawless
Killswitch engage is one of the best bands whether it's with Howard or Jessie. But Howard in my opinion, is definitely the best vocalist they've had.
Laughs in Bolt Thrower
Saw them twice with Howard, they were flawless.
I do also love Dragonforce’s most recent live album, In the Line of Fire.
When these guys say they’re extreme power metal, they mean it and they did an AMAZING job!
To contrast, I think that Twilight Dementia by Dragonforce is a trash live album.

I love Dragonforce, but even I’ll admit Twilight Dementia was a rough spot.
I saw them on that tour!!! Awesome live band. Both vocalists they've had are epic. Each give the band their own brand of power!!
They have so many hits. This there most gentle one. Rose of Sharyn is beautiful and heart wrenching.
They are the best metal band to me. They are my favorite band. I love too many of their songs hahahaa
From live concerts I've been. Sound wise Megadeath was amazing. Show wise Rammstein or Slipknot are top notch!
I remember having this on DVD and it's a great show for sure. If you want to see crowd participation, check out Iced Earth "Alive in Athens" from around this same era. I can't think of a better live show.
Aaaahh the band that started my guitar journey. There awesome 🔥🔥🔥
They are really good live. This song is awesome with both singers.
I saw KSE at The Boiler Room in 2001 I think it was. Believe it or not, they opened for Hypocrisy, and there may have been 100 people there. Seeing them three times live fucking amazing Jesse sounds on point if not better live I can’t wait to see them live again
Oh one of my absolute favourite bands ever
Man I literally woke up to this notification, I've got some kind of rheumatological issue that's still being diagnosed that means I usually take ages to be able to get out of bed. KSE with Howard on the mic is a well balanced meta band with great compositions and great vocal dynamics.
I wouldn't be able to say if i thought they were the best live metal band until i was able to see them live. But this performance was absolutely amazing. Great song too. A couple of friends and i use to play this song all the time when we would jam. One friend on drums, another on guitar, and myself on bass. Yes they are! I saw them live with lamb of God and Testament back in 2014, they kicked ass
I’ve seen my fair share of live shows and yes kse with Howard is one of the best.
Excellent!
Howard Jones is an absolute powerhouse of a live singer. I saw KSE on an old roadrunner tour back in the day with Chimaera, the whole show was banging.
more Gojira please! ♥
love you Shredmaster
"Mini Dracula Cape "
So hilarious even THE DEVIL couldn't keep me from giggling at this
Disturbed is a really killer band, do some disturbed. Highly underrated. Their live shows are studio quality too.
WHAT AN AWESOME SONG!!!! THOSE DUDES ARE GREAT!!!
Yo shred can u do a meshuggah live next time ?? These dudes are insane live !
Slayer live is pretty sick. You should do a video on them. Why is the backing guitarist wearing a Skid Row t-shirt?
When he screams it’s almost lamb of god ish!
Trivium Trivium Trivium. I'll give a Benjamin if you do it. Oh no..... bro better start making videos dude. They are another level. Horns up 🤟🏻🤟🏻
Hey Shred!! *evil laugh, id love to get your analysis on Avatar - One Touch solo! Think it would be good to look at! Stay Evil 🤘
I saw killswitch open for anthrax when they toured together, it was a great show
Please react to Children Of Bodom - Hatecrew Deathroll Live in Stockholm

Try to check the band- As i Lay Dying with their song Through Struggle( live). Thanks
you should check out times of grace. it has Adam d doing drums guitars bass and vocals with original killswitch engage singer Jesse leach singing as well. Adam also recorded and mixed those 2 records.
You are the modern day Amadeus Mozart Shred.
Muhahaha
You should give opinion and actual analysis on Jon Nödtveidt of Dissection.
The black metal riff god
Guy would do a killer old school Phil Anselmo gig. Do some great southern trendkill that singer would kill it.
Killswitch are great live. Be interesting to see you compare this clip with Howard with a later one with Jesse on vocals
KSE I love this guys
Please do The Sound of Truth AILD from This is Who We Are DVD. That DVD has some greeeeeeat songs in it
Yes
Howard jones is my 2nd favorite metal vocalist of all time right behind Mr Dave mustaine of megadeth..
ShredMaster Scott: The Joys of WAP Juice
1:20
yes
What kind of chords is Adam playing in the chorus?
I was dismissive of them until I saw them opening for Slayer, just around the year of this video 2005.
Lamb of god is my favorite. Very technical guitars with a power voice
Dream Theater.
Trivium.
Awesome live performers.
Watched them open for maiden 2018 in stockholm they ripped
Bro bleed from within is highly underrated
U better check them out.
i don't know i saw Living Sacrifice live in Harpo's in Detroit,Mi and they are amazing live they were with Cannibal Corpse,Dark Angel and couple of other bands
Always been a huge fan of KSE. Howard Jones' vocals are amazing. I personally like his vocals better than Jesse.
Probably put in some Lorna shore into the next reaction video . 👍
These guys are good no doubt. The only let down no guitar solo. The guitar players are more than talented enough to put in a soaring solo that just takes you higher. My only critique other than that its solid. Would you call it power metal? Good band I would like to see them for sure.
They do have quite a few solos in there albums now. More the recent ones. Adams got a very quick bluesy style I love it.
Killswitch Engage is one of the best metalcore bands. Try to listen or react to My Last Serenade with Jesse Leach. Alive or Just Breathing is one of the best metalcore albums ever made
Gojira and Soilwork are my top live bands. Killswitch have always been on point tho.
You should check out this is absolution by them.
As far as sound, I'd say yes. Though Slipknot or Demmu Borgir would be the best on theatrical elements of a live set.
For me the guitar riff sounds like the intro to lucretia by megadeth but heavier
Wow a set specifically set up to record for a DVD sounds good live? Who would have guessed.
Now show the audio from the 200 capacity bumblefuck bar, middle of nowhere, USA.
if you think adam d's stage attire is awesome, i can't believe you never seen wes borland
Killswitch is so far the band with the best live performance in my op
Gojira is one band that sounds amazing live too... Ithink they sound better live than in the studio.
Killswitch is really good live... lamb of god probably had the best sound I've seen live
A couple nice licks and I agree that contrast is nasty. Don't know if they can take on Metallica or Megadeth tho
Muahahahaha
Dei æmeth if you were curious
Do a video on the band suffocation
Probably the best metalCORE band when playing live….and studio. It’s too hard figure out that type of thing.
sodom is probably the most underated band live, and just in general. they still sound as good as they did 10 years ago live and they are one of the oldest thrash bands out there. there 2007 wacken performance sounds almost exactly like their studio recording on the 11th album. Their christ passion live performance of that show is better than the original studio recording imo.
They also changed instruments in the band, something pretty odd for bigger bands
Sounds too emo for me but they are really good, if it is for this type of melo music I will stick with insomium and Coheed and Cambria, Mastodon is also cool.
👍👍
Please react to “A Bid Farewell”
If you haven't already you should check out twelve foot ninja
Rammstein is the best metal band. Please check out any of their live shows
Never could get into this type of metal. Maybe when I was 15 but now there are too many options to listen to angsty teen metal.
Obviously KSE is an enormous sounding band and this was recorded in 2005, if that says anything about how they were live! Next up, the greatest metal band of all time, Avenged Sevenfold and Shadows Fall!
They never play anything off of their second self titled album, which is their second best album. I hate that.
No Shred ...
Judas Priest doing Victim Of Changes and Beyond The Realms Of Death on the Painkiller Tour is.
MESHUGGAH
The best live band is by far DragonForce
For tightness it's archspire or obscura
TSO was literally LiT
