@@nmelkhunter1 You obviously don’t hunt Mule Deer. Yes they count, but you don’t get it. I’m not trying to say they shouldn’t count for score, I’m saying the vast majority of us Mule Deer hunters out west say we shot a “four point” if we shot a buck with four points on both sides and eye guards. That’s it, everyone out west gets what I’m saying and I’m just giving them a hard time. Settle down.
@@specforged5651 You're right, I have NEVER hunted mule deer. In fact, I didn't know mules and deer could breed. What's more, is I've never hunted west of the east coast unless New Mexico, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Arizona and Idaho count. I also guess growing up in New Mexico also doesn't lend anything to my credibility. That's silly comment number two. You're on a roll.

"He's in here, just laying down flat. Other people are just walking and driving by him but he's in here" Thats exactly what I tell my kids every year when we go hunting. The bucks are there, you just gotta wait them out! The other thing is that if you don't have a clean shot, that buck will be there again next time. We'll usually put eyes on horns every time we go out but won't pull the trigger until mid season. The stalk is all part of the fun!
Patience and persistence are key for sure. Glad you are making memories with your family. That's what it's all about.

Yes they are! For the price they shoot just as good as any in my opinion! Between me and my dad we have 6 savage rifles! 4 of them in 270!

Absolutely great video. I loved the flash backs so we really got to see 3 monster bucks get shot.
No one has orange on... Must be on private land. On some ranch. Where Theres no other hunter's for miles. And the deer havent been hunted for years. Oh the joys of being a magazine hunter.
You can't eat antlers but they sure look great above the fireplace.

Nice buck but it seems you guys are on private land that is locked up and leased....nobody else can hunt it! Let's see you go to a general unit on public land and pull this off.
I'm pretty sure they said this is in a general unit, but regardless, the Eastman's, the entire family, have a long and hallowed record of doing just that, taking trophies on public land. In fact, that's been the principal driver for them going back generations, including the title of both books and articles. This is a family that's known for its public land pursuits.

Please, please show me a hunt that’s not on a limited, trophy unit. What you guys do isn’t hunting. Eastman’s = paper champions.
It’s actually not a limited trophy unit. That’s a General deer tag. Which in Wyoming means over the counter for residents. So this is not some top premier unit.

Why do you hunt them

@@EastmansHuntingJournals funny I never thought about trophy hunting like that but it is true we do this with farm animals too the bigger the cow and bigger the bull the more meat we can get from it. Especially since older animals are less likely to have healthy offspring or offspring at all. Plus if you have too many older bulls you run the risk of them killing the younger ones to maintain herd supremacy. Good article from the perspective of trophy hunters. I think most people don't realize that the meat is used regardless of which animal is killed whether it be a massive buck or a doe.
