Bulls fan here. I always liked Penny and felt bad for the way his career ended up. Such a talent. If he was healthy and Shaq stayed, the Magic would probably have a ring.
Penny could've been what Kobe became if it wasn't for injuries
I am a fan of old Suns but Jordan... he is above of all of this.
😔 I agree 👍🏾😊 I am a Bulls fan too 👍🏾
@D Ku They could have been awesome 🤩
Penny had 6 knee surgeries. He was the first nba player to have microfracture surgery on his knees and he did not recover well from it. Medical science, technology, surgery. rehab. Injury management has vastly improved today. This is unfortunate for penny or else he would have had more years playing at his peak
MJ was so good it looks almost effortless
🤯 True ✅
@88ntil Penny was awesome 🤩
Yea and this is him at 34 yrs old. That’s not OLD, but compared to 28 yr olds at their physical peak, it’s physically not young. MJ at 28 or 29 was unstoppable. Like literally unstoppable if he wanted to score he would. That was still pretty much the case here as well. But the point is this is him towards the end of his career and he’s still doin it with the best of em. Better than the best of em.
It was
Penny was coming off an injury here.. It just goes to show us how great a player he truly was before the injury.
Penny used to bust Jordan's ass long before the injury. The young Hardaway and 25 year old O'neal were so fast they could play street ball on the Chicago duo. It was actually the veteran team Houston with record playoff appearances who exposed Orlando's weakness. The franchise didn't want to give Shaq the big contract because they were too eager to purchase a bench. L.A. couldn't wait to go in another direction because Van Exel kept getting in trouble. Kobe wouldn't start for another year and a half.
10,000 Right Answers Jordan was better
Mike is on record saying penny was his favorite player. Even wore his shoes in a game one time he didn't have a pair of his own shoes.
Damn Penny looks good out there, imagine no injuries
Laziness and lack of motivation. Look how Isiah Thomas thrived under chuck Daly.
@@abeninan4017 yeah, I hate when I injure my lack of motivation
This was MJ at 34 years old... still winning it all. I feel sorry for Penny as he had so much potential to become a great player
At 33 he lost to this team, bring that up without excuses lol
@@TheTaekwon3 MJ didn’t play a full season that year. He wasn’t in basketball shape. And where did the Magic go?
@@TheTaekwon3 after he switched sports 😂 them boys could never ! MJ that nigga simple 🤷🏽♂️
@@boxingboxer2941 Bulls swept the Magic in 96🤣 MJ dropped 45 in that clinching game.
@Boxing Boxer again, where did that get Orlando?
What makes MJ so extraordinary. Most of his shots be contested, and he still knocks them down. Not too many people can do that without either being wide open or about 2 feet of space between them. Those guys be in MJ face, and he still hits the shot effortlessly
Look at what jordan did in this sequence 5:51 he uses the screen of luc longley to creat some space and boom hes open, goes to show you that he has no weaknesses in his game #goat
💯💯💯
Because that's what screens are for dumbass
@Jαsigh Camar what? You're stupid
Grant Hill and Penny Hard away gave
Cook Jordan and Pippen and I'm A bulls fan My favorite players
Damn Jordan so good he makes everyone he played against look mediocre 😂. Goat 🐐 shit
I LOVE and MISS the 90's NBA!!!
Penny is my favorite player all time. He should be in the Hall, as it's the bball Hall. But MJ is the greatest. His game is the smoothest, most efficient of all time. It isn't close..he is the best mid range, pull up shooter of all time.
And MJ was one of ..if not the best SG Defensive Player Ever..9 times 1st Team All Defensive Team and Defensive Player of the Year..only player in history to have two 200+ steals and over 100 blks..
Carl malone had a nice mid range shot to almost automatic
Bernard King is!
@ jasonhowell9723 PIPPEN and Olajuwon did that as well. That’s a great accomplishment
Penny rocking the Foamposites...👌
... orijinally penny'z.. tha junts wit tha nike check on tha cide r tha "foampozits" -- penny'z tha oG junts tho
#MemphisShit👑
Because they are/were his signature shoe.. younger generation calls them foamposites.. older generation calls them Penny’s

@@marcus.6487 lol facts
MJ doesn't need anyone to show him where the golf course is, he played 18 holes before the game!!!.....and probably went back after the game for another 18!?
Lol
Dude has unreal stamina
The jordan "pause" when he floats in the air away from the defender is like no other. It gave him time to stare down the basket and sink it. Kobe did the pause aswell but not many others can do it like that
MJ = The Goat!
MJ's basketball is a beautiful art.
4:47 I have to admit, that "Golf Course" sign was pretty creative, lol!
I remember when the Bulls squared off with the Magic in the playoffs in '96 - man, Jordan absolutely DESTROYED them. Penny was a BEAST but couldn't handle Jordan at all. Rodman was even guarding Shaq at times, too.
That's how a REAL 70 plus win team takes care of business - taking revenge then winning a ring.
Unplugged Gaming they had a chip on their shoulder.
what about 1995?
Zerach Candace Jordan wasn’t 100% back and no one could guard Shaq. That’s why the Bulls got Rodman in 96 and they got their revenge on the Magic in 96 by sweeping them in the playoffs. The Magic were a great team, prime Shaq & Penny, but too bad Penny had career ending injuries. One of the biggest what ifs in NBA history.
@@QuinnClips247 Definitely 😏
@@QuinnClips247 True ✅
The home crowd cheered just as loud everytime MJ scored! 😄
Nobody better than Mike he shows it.... These other students are almost there... Just got to get that dawg in them....Mike put fear in other players hearts...
Not on the black mamba man!
Penny: *throws pass to ref while sitting down*
Announcers: “the disrespect”🙊
Man we know the GOAT but that boy Penny was so dope...wish he could have played longer.
MJ, the "God of Basketball"
MJ had such killer instinct and same time dishing out great dimes at such stage no weakness in his game. Lepunk lack clutch genes and Kobe too selfish not pass enough.
Lebron has more game winners goofy.
Kobe second all time in assist by a shooting guard tho. Was only 4 away from having mor then Clyde Drexler.
@@144SouldierHalf of those so called Game winner's are layups and dunks. MJ is actually shooting the ball from the field. On shots 12 ft or further from the basket LeBron shoots 33% from the field for his career...🤷🏾♂️
When Jordan was asked about the players likely to come out that year who would he most like to play with, he said Penny. Penny was such a brilliant player. He was basically Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan in one body. Coach Nolan Richardson actually stated that so I will give him his due. Father time and career-ending injuries are undefeated for sure.
😔 I agree 👍🏾
Penny was INCREDIBLE before the injuries. An absolute all rounder with a killer offensive skill set.
Guess he's just a 'white plumber' though, right? ;-)
@@PullThePluGz I agree with your overall point 👍🏾 Shaq and Penny could have won a championship in the 2000s like him and Kobe if Penny would have stayed healthy, and Shaq would have stayed in Orlando ✅
@@MisterTurner-ex1fv - Completely agree. Shaq should've stayed put. That was a fantastic team that could've stayed as top contenders of chip winners in the East to rival the Bulls along with Alonzo's Heat and the Knicks.
@@PullThePluGz Yeah 😏 I grew up a diehard Bulls' fan 👍🏾, but the Bulls would have eventually aged out like the Boston Celtics before them and not been able to compete for championships anymore unless they received a young infusion of talent with another player, 2 of them, or more ✅ I don't count the Pistons because they were close in age to Jordan, Paxson, and Cartwright ✅ So the Pistons only losing to the Bulls because the Pistons were getting older is a false narrative ❌
Thank you for the upload👍🏻
Great upload man! I remember all those match ups, but this one I probably never seen since it aired.
Penny was such a smooth player to watch
Legends!! 🙌🙌
MJ=G.O.A.T
Nobody and nothing gonna change that
Who wants to be like Mike gives a like👍
Wow!! MJ moves shooters and wiser gameplay when smiling
I watched this video just for the post up moves of MJ and Penny.
Share, the GOAT.
1:30 I was waiting for Jordan to start complaining about that but he just kept running I forgot this was the 90’s
Shaq is a generational talent! You essentially let him walk for $20 million.
@Rasul Daniels 😂😂😂😂
Penny was one of the hardest dunkers of all time. Change my mind.
Some people just don’t understand how lethal Jordan was, but I get it. But I think if they would’ve been able to keep Penny healthy and Shaq in Orlando, they would’ve taken at least one of those 6.
Negative!!!
Best days in NBA history...
7:12 "Jordan putting moves on Wilkins. Yes!"
Lol, poor Wilkins....'The Jordan stopper'....yeah, RIGHT!
Gerald was actually a damn fine defender and actually gave MJ a ton of tough games during his Cavs & Knick years.
Same as Joe Dumars, Doug Christie, Todd Day, Dennis Rodman, Reggie Lewis, Mitch Richmond to name but a few.
Not a single superstar in this league in history that's never been locked up or forced into a bad game by a good defender. It's all part of the sport.
@Lisa Rose - Firstly, the league didn't need multiple talents on one team in the 80's and for the most part, the 90's, because the best players were trying to beat eachother back then, not buddy up to shortcut their way to rings.
The players you speak of are phenomenal but are simply a product of today's game. Just as you have your top names today, the guys I previously mentioned MANY times before that you frequently insult were top players of past eras.
Those guys you mentioned - Pippen would give KD fits with full court traps. Paul George is simply a dime a dozen SF, seen plenty of his type before. Giannis - A big man who can't play in the post. Tim Duncan would piss on him. Jimmy Butler wouldn't be any better than a Mitch Richmond. Harden over dribbles, travels constantly and can't play defense. Full props to Kawhi thoguh - he's legit. He's literally one of the few players that would fit into past eras style of play. Great defender and great fundamentals.
@@PullThePluGz 😆 Ha 👍🏾
@@PullThePluGz😏 Jordan had bad plays occasionally ✅, but nobody ever locked Jordan up ❌ When we spoke of somebody being locked up or shut down back in the day, we meant a person kept you from scoring any points, or that person kept you at half if not your average points per game scored ✅
MJ’s game is flawless. At some point you have to guard him
Orlando Magic; a franchise that killed two stars by over working them... Penny and TMac.
I’m sure the team was planning on doing that, nice observation 👍
They killed dwight by giving in to his delusions that he should be a number 1 offensive option.
@@mikesannitti6042 Dwight had the talent to be that, his mind wasn't right.
Orlando's bad when it comes to ankles.
They let Shaq walk because they wouldn't pay him. They ruined Penny's career telling him he wasn't hurt when he clearly was. They pissed away a dynasty.
Plus prime Mike ain't letting no young n get out on him not happening
That was it folks! Simple basketball, 6’6”, long arms, perfect high jumper, unguardable fade away, all day long
i watched this because of Penny and no matter what Penny is my all my time favorite but i believe jordan is the real GOAT but at that time and until now Penny is really my guy and my really favorite.
Who would have thought that basketball was so much better to watch when they played actual defense
This was on NBA on NBC Sunday.
Eversince Shaq went to LA, Magic was never the same….
when I want to make myself at ease with the world I remember how these two were able to play the game of basketball
It's remarkable how often Jordan had an open shot. Phil's offense was something else.
Jordan was also great off the ball
Penny used to be one of my favorite players back in the day. I remember this year when Shaq left and Penny had to step up. The matchup with MJ was always great to watch. Then the knee injury came and his career slowly decipated. I think he averaged like 27 that year.
27? Try 20.
Michael Jordan’s blocks so nasty
MJ ♾️🐐.
Nba 2k24 Needs To Create 1996 1997 Orlando Magic Roster And Penny Hardaway Slam Dunk Package For Playstation Xbox Nintendo
I loved the bulls but penny and the magic was my squad 2!!!
If you are an opponent and you see MJ smiling you have to be nervous.
When you have a jumper that high and footwork that great, you are your only enemy.
Penny was injured in the summer of '96 He never would be the same. "He was Kobe before Kobe, took 3 years to Kobe to be Kobe, Penny was there from his 1st year" Shaq's words
El numero 1
Who could watch this video and claim that todays basketball is better? Its a no contest.
MJ vs Penny whaaat???? MJ is Legends over
The first time you see the Introduction of the Foamposites in this game by Penny Hardaway
好懷念
❤️💙
Penny had one of the best post up games of that era, look how he posted Jordan and scored at will, if Shaq would if stayed and Penny kept that intensity with no major injuries they would of beaten the Bulls in 97 or 98. But injuries rob Penny and Orlando never recruit it any help for him that's why he fled to Phoenix
I don't think so !! Not a chance
❤️ Penny! Such a leader. Remember in an interview when he said he was trying take the pressure off Shaq!
He was never a leader
Melvyn Singleton What’s your basis?
MJ fan but still think the "golf course" sign to distract his free throws was classic! Maybe a sign with an oversized baseball curving downward may have had more success???
!
Ps Much Gratitude.
The real NBA fans know how good Penny was before the line of injuries. He was one of the few players that could actually give MJ problems when they matched up and had the skill and fundamentals to do so... Shaq went as far to say the best teammate he ever played with was Penny Hardaway and called him "Kobe Bryant before Kobe Bryant"
If you look close at the game highlights it’s not a lot happening that we don’t see today🤔 I’m 35 before you say I wasn’t around I saw this game live
Where was Shaq during this game? Did he already leave to LA?
Penny hardaway my all time favorite player!
34, still killin.
This is real NBA basketball not that bullshh we see today ..😋
Penny was so raw
PRIME PIPPEN w/ Jordan on PENNY, Wilkens low key baller ..is that Ron Sekiely
I grew up a big fan of Jordan and the Bulls. But Penny till this day is my FAVORITE player of all time. The only time i went against the Bulls, is when they played against Penny.
A FEW OF MANY U WANTED TO SEE FINISH THEIR CAREERS INJURY FREE IS PENNY GRANT HILL AND BERNARD KING THEY ALL WERE EXCITING GODBLESS PEACE AND LOVE ALWAYS TO YOU AND YOURS MY BROTHERS 😄....#NBA..(*8*)
1:28 that was 100% foul🙄
kawhi n jordan jumpshot kinda similar
The NBA on NBC was the best.
Before jordan left the bulls for first retirement.the bulls is a dynasty already.thats why the bulls still manage to make the playoffs.they concentrate on triangle offense.Their teamplay.Unlike other teams that rely too much in one player. But they miss jordan when it matters most.Jordan and the bulls for me is the greatest of all time.
Go MJ
Gerald “the Jordan stopper” Wilkins
Pippin shut down hardaway which proves he's top 5.And Jordan shows you that he is the best shooter and scorer ever
how many people could just slide by Pippen in those days? That's why Penny was my favorite player in the game! Game was effortless
Poor Penny 😔 Why you leave me Shaq 😩❗❗❗
this is the real game... 1990 match equal both teams
Penny puts MJ on a poster here and no one wants to talk about it
This is what you young bucks need to recognize and realize. He did all of this with the physicality.
You blow on these guys today and it's a foul. Call them a name and it's a foul.
Just like people have been saying for years.....SOFT.
He was literally just giving the ball to the slow reflexed, oblivious ref lmao....
I remember This game Orlando just could never beat the balls again after that 96 playoff sweep! Well At least they could never beat Jordans bulls after.Chicago owned them
That golf course sign, thats why MJ scored 37 pts in this game, don't trash him girl...
He kinda looks like juice WRLD
My father was not a fool but i was bewitched like a fool 🤣
why are the teams trying to stop the other team from scoring
This is Penny post injury, not even the same player
1:27 LeBron woulda been throwing a tantrum for that no foul call
People forget those late 90's Bulls never started a PG... they had 2 shooting guards in MJ and Harper with Pippen bringing up the ball. This was back in the illegal defense era so the 3 guys would take turns guarding Penny or whoever was hot.
And Scottie Pippen running the offense
Penny was so good. Excellent handles for his height
Penny looks like he's playing with an injury here because he's not as fast and explosive
Penny would’ve been top 5 if he never got injured 😪
Top 5 what?
Melvyn Singleton top 5 greats!!!! Tf
