Good deal. Question-why not attach cable to dock, throw anchors, and connect traps to cable with drowning locks? Store bought drowning locks usually come with J or S hooks to attach to trap chains OR make your own L-shape locks drilling 4 adjoing holes smaller than cable but when connected slide down but L-shape bites stopping trap coming back to surface. Diamond shape is best but 4 small holes connected is faster than filing a diamond. Don't make my mistake first time I made them...hold right hand with index and thumb making the L-your index finger would connect to your trap and thumb connects to anchor cable. When connected properly invert the L...making the L with your index again & point down. If you connect with that orientation your good...my mistake was swaggering my anchor cables before attaching my locks. I recommend using rings or clips so you can swap or remove traps and you make enough over time you'll figure shape of bend is more important than hole size that bites cable.
The cables are attached to the dock and weight. The trap attaches to the drowner lock via a quick link. The weight sits on the dock so there is a lot of slack in the cable otherwise the lock wont go over the docks bullrail. When the otter gets out in the water the weight will fall into the water. I will do a video this week as i am pulling the traps on tuesday for end of season. Would like to show exactly how it all works. I dont think i did a good job showing the whole set up and process. More just shared an idea.
@@bowslingeroutdoors3653 understand now-sounded like old drop or kick rig. Have hundreds of hours of video haven't gotten to speaking military jargon, swearing while catching snapping turtles and fish in 330s, or making sense to me only so you're doing great. Keep it up.
That’s an awesome looking set bud ! Can’t wait to see the checks ! My mink boxes are made to keep out cats so far so good sadly it’s keeping the mink out to lol or at least they aren’t hungry enough yet to really investigate. Looking forward to seeing how yours work out
We just got a new place so we have mink around. Set a box trap last night by a bridge and a mink came out of the hole and was watching me set up a trap 10' away
Enough soil left to plant some flowers, lol. Looks like it should work! Best of luck, Brother

Nice looking set
Thanks. Hopefully it produces! Would be fun!
Interesting set i get how it works but are the cables connected to the dock and the box as well
Cables are only on the traps and the dock for the drowner. Cables go over the dock rail so when otter goes over it will pull the weight off the dock.
