After watching a couple of your videos I went and got out my sketchbook and started drawing for 2 hours straight with whatever came to mind thanks for the inspiration I haven’t drawn in about a year and today was the first day I picked my sketchbook back up

the high I get from art is so much more fulfilling then any drug I did in my years of substance abuse. I subscribed a while back and dig the art. I paint myself and actually didn't start until I got sober in 2010. creating has def filled my hole in the soul. much love and respect! peace (influential)
What a testimony! To open yourself like you did is awesome. Eight years ago I went through a life threatening surgery. I almost died and came from that experience feeling that something was missing from my life....it was ART. I discovered that I had a hidden talent. It changed my life and now I can breathe...Thank you!

You're an inspiration sir, truly. I'm a creative myself in many avenues but for the past long while, I've been doing my art in all my outlets simply because its what I do or its what I know, not because inspiration fuels me. In fact I don't think I've been truly inspired to an awesome piece in years, I couldn't say why that is, but watching your videos (found your channel yesterday) is a good start for me.

Art has kept me going after being diagnosed with a chronic illness, and doctors couldn’t figure out what was wrong with me. I had to quit my job. So I just drew all the time just to get through the day and keep my mind off of my severe symptoms. After all of that drawing I never thought I would be this good. Or have a job as a working artist. Keep up the great work and inspiring others!

Ur so special bro. I’m an artist and stayed away from drug addiction because my parents were. When my family members were dying one after one I got on drugs. When I met my fiance I got off of them. Because it didnt fit my life anymore I didn’t paint for 5 years including covid. But I always watched you. You inspired me and I haven’t watched a video of your for 2 years because I appreciating how my life changed. But thanks for sharing that. I didn’t even know that was ur story but u inspire me….. every video. I love u. Thank u.
Honestly, super grateful for finding your channel. I have seasonal depression and these days have been quite rough, but you've inspired me to break through art block, to start creating to vent my emotions. My art is at its best right now, because I feel so motivated and inspired.. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making me want to make art and recover again!

Man, I've been watching you for only about a month or two now. I'm not really an artist in the traditional sense, but since my mom died I've been really into graffiti and art videos. I've been clean/sober for a little over 4 years, and it wouldn't have been possible without my mom letting me move home and helping me through like your dad did for you. I had no idea your history with substance abuse and it gives me an even deeper connection to you, your art and your channel. Keep on keeping on man. I know my creative output is what keeps me going every day

while diving through all your vids i had a feeling you had struggled with addiction in the past, only because your energy promotes the exact opposite type of vibes. (if that makes any sense) I've struggled a lot in the past as well but music and art are my addiction now!! Thanks for the motivation! Now that i live in WA its my dream to work with you one day!

Overcoming a drug addiction, alcohol and all those challenges and channeling that energy into art is truly an accomplishment. I've personally never had addictions, but I know from friends it is a huge series of challenges. You might think about being an artist/motivational speaker to inspire people with your story.

Man this hits close to home. I love your work, and I relate to you even more now that I am learning more about your past. Good on you for sharing this, cause its hard to bring up stuff like addiction. I'm at a stage were I usually don't, but I'm working on it.

Crazy how much impact you can have on other people's lives… With such coincidences.
I've wanted to make art forever, but I never finished any sketches or paintings. I've been seeing myself as an artist for so long, just by having the dream and by trying to learn. I've spent hours and hours going through portfolios, tutorials, articles and everything I could find, throughout my life but haven't had anything of my own I could frame. Empty walls, dried up paints, ruined brushes, sketchbooks with filled pages that are unfinished and abandoned and thrown away.. Canvases that I consider ruined or simply not tempting. A drawing tablet that's years old. People ask me if they can see art that I've created and I'm like... "Someday, maybe."
Well, many years I was a drug addict myself, up until a year ago when I had gathered all my courage to turn my life around. Life has been empty, dull, so endlessly boring and frustratingly hard. I fail at everything. I choose to do nothing.
Then I found this youtube channel where this guy was just so inspiringly creative. Like nothing I've seen before. Yes I've been inspired by people before but it didn’t feel like I could do it or that I really wanted to anyway. You’ve got to find the style and the process right for you I suppose. Watching these videos made me find something… special. The voice in my heart going ”you can do it”… and it doesn’t matter what ”it” is, because you show me that it’s about experimentation, feeling, randomness, a love for something, a joy out of anything, excitement out of experiencing something new, something unique that you’ve brought to life. Yes, creativity. I really needed it. My head was blank, and the blank paper was the scariest thing ever for me. But now it calls to me. Fingers are itching for it.
I may sound dramatic and I’m not sure YET how much my life will change. But as I’m working on a painting that has got so much life in it, so much personality, style, feeling, and that is truly something unique…. I know this time that I’m gonna finish it. As I’m allowing myself to be both the perfectionist that I always am but also a free artist that pushes some boundaries and who isn’t afraid of being criticized for it. And it is completing me. I feel awakened from a slumber. The future is so exciting. Art is saving me and the inspiration I’ve gotten, so thank you

you are so inspiring, a fellow creative getting to make crazy projects like this. sometimes i use my art for coping with addiction and mental illness so i resonated with what you said about that. absolutely incredible, i start crying thinking about the possibilities we have nowadays as artists, seeing a come-up story like you gives me so much hope.
u make me cry and u inspire me, i'm a fine art photographer and a filmmaker but you make me want to paint. i'm going to art school next year at MassArt in Boston, and i was really upset about having to try other mediums but now i'm excited. i really want to meet you, i'm going to seattle one day to live there and do that.

But haven’t had a drink since 5/27/2015. I’ve been struggling lately though but have been turning to art and music, to help me get by... even though I’m not a great artist. It definitely helps channel that pent up energy and brings joy. Thanks for being so inspiring and sharing your journey!!!!

Having some issues with substance abuse, I do notice that the "urge" becomes significantly more quiet when I do art a lot. Sometimes I "wake up" from the drawing-flow and realize I haven't even thought about using the thing I'm addicted to, while usually most of my day circles around when I finally can use it again (I made some rules to use at specific times of the day to prevent total escalation which I think helps, but also makes me obsess over it maybe more) but now that I'm actively practicing again, getting better every day, I have almost no trouble reducing my usage slowly but steadily.

Your story about addiction and moving home hits home with me. I also just had to move back home after a rough battle with a heavy substance and became very sick. I am always focusing on my music as my career but now that I'm sober, more than ever. I can't wait to get through this hell of withdrawals. I hope things work out for me like they did for you, I hope one day I can help people with my art too.
