The horse AP beats on Synchronised at 37:31 is called Giles Cross and it's the day Synchronised won the Welsh National. My Grandfather trained Giles Cross and he was a hell of a horse, won the trial grand national and I believe came second twice in the Welsh national. Goes to show what legends AP and synchronised were. Both of those horses failed to complete the Grand National though, Giles cross pulled up due to injury and synchronised fell (later having to be put down), very sad day :(
Thank you for sharing. I watched that sad day A.P.'s horse pulled up. Do you remember going down to the start? A.P. got un-seated cantering down (the horse jinked right A.P. went left) by Synchronised and A.P. Re-mounted and the rest is history (horse had to be put down). Only for My maternal Grandfather I would have nothing to do with horse. I Love show jumping horses and my brother is a small N.H. trainer but can jump 1.20m no problem. Geoff. C. (my only brother) a P.G. a 15.2 1/2 hh bay mare no white to win 2 races at Downpatrick after a certain trainer had her said "she'll never win a race". that man had/has too much Quailty N.H. horses he didn't want to stick at it and win a 80-95 rated hurdle around Downpatrick. P.G. won her first on Fri. 13th July :-) and my brother was born on Fri. 13th Feb. :-) have a Good day. I have work to do!
That was a gr8 wee post there m8 .. I remember Giles Cross as i bet him a few times n had a couple of winners with him & ur right he was a decent horse alright. 👍🐴
There is no doubt he was a winner and was a true professional but in my honest opinion I wouldn’t have him in my top 5 jockeys of my lifetime . I would have above him in no particular order Geraghty Walsh Murphy Fehily Swan
AP is and was the greatest of the greats. Solid as a rock and the most elite Jockey I will ever see in my lifetime. Thank you AP Mcoy.
