I'm an ardent football fan and I have no idea who he is. I've heard his name mentioned numerous times over the past week because of this story and I forget his name every time. I also hate that Simone is going out of her way to try and not outshine him in public. Embrace your greatness! to the fullest! You deserve it!
The main reason for this is he became a starter a few games ago. That’s why they had him on The Pivot Podcast. He was supposed to get on there and talk about his journey to becoming a starter. Him going viral for this further tells us that he ain’t have much going on before that interview.
The only way he'll outshine her is when he win some Super bowl trophies, he'll win the Walter Peyton Man of the year award, and be on the cover of Sports magazines then he'll outshine her.

The fact that all the headlines for this story state "Simone Biles' Husband" makes this debate a foregone conclusion. They're both talented but if he means 'catch' as in fame and notoriety then he's playing a losing game. But I agree with Alyssa that he should still be shown grace. People should be allowed to put a foot wrong and not be considered a bad partner.

The whole interview was actually really good and he explained how she helped him a lot with his mental health. What I will say, though, is Simone has every right to brag, and don’t let any man diminish your accomplishments!
Yeah but also dont diminish men's accomplishments. Its way more difficult to make a professional nfl football team than to be a gymnast. He had to compete with thousands of athletes throughout the country. Gymnastics is a very niche activity, i wouldnt call it a sport because its decided by biased judges. Theres not as much competion because theres not too many women under 5ft tall and athletic also.
He didn't diminish her accomplishment. He was full of her praises. Checking his body language and hers, you could tell it's the kind of joke they share. I've seen an instagram post where Simone told him she was the best thing that ever happened to him. They're just two people who are secure in themselves and with each other. Leave them alone!

Her hubby, whose name I still don’t know, is one of 53 guys on a team in a league with 31 other teams, each of whom has 53 guys on their respective rosters. Not including the 11 guys each team also has on their practice squad, that’s 1,696 guys who professionally play football. You may not know as many gymnasts’ names as you do football players’, but that makes Simone even more impressive- you know her name even though you don’t watch her sport professionally. Oh, and by the numbers, it’s way easier to become an NFL player than to become an internationally known, gold-winning gymnast.

I am a man. I thought Jonathan's statement was troubling. If men are the "catch", then date men. However, I think the men in Pivot Podcast coached Jonathan into that statement and it is unfortunate. Also, Pivot Podcast used that clip as the promo piece to promote the interview. All parties involved didn't do Jonathan or Simone any favors including Simone herself because she defended it. I saw the entire interview. Both shared their love story. However, I think from a PR perspective, Jonathan should have come back, apologized, and moved on. Instead, Jonathan and Simone defended the statement and that is why this story continues. Simone and Jonathan are public figures. Everything they say and do will be scrutinized. They need a better PR team to help them understand their roles as celebrities. They are both young. I don't think Jonathan understands the value of his wife in the world, and that is quite sad. Jonathan is a member of the Green Bay Packers. Simone is the GOAT. If Jonathan's ego is that fragile, then maybe he should deal with the sex he believes is "the catch".

No one is happy with someone who undermines you and downplays your significance like that let alone who does it in public, let alone by someone who is mid in his own sport.
The difference is one of them competes at the international level and won metals. The other is domestic and is just a part of a team. one is a proven apex winner in her field, and the other is a replaceable teammate.

It’s easy for you as a man to say that. Out yourself in a woman’s shoes and you just might understand why what he said was disrespectful. When you have other men, including former NFL players, calling him out. That should be your cue to dig deeper and understand the issue.

I think yall took what he said out of context if a woman says the woman is the catch no one would disagree. To draw a definitive conclusion about their marriage off of one comment is whats wrong with the media these crazy days. I think most people just love to hear themselves talk without having a good comprehension of a topic.
It wasn’t about him thinking he’s the catch. It’s what he said to support his statement. He could have just said, “Simone pursued me, so I’m the catch”, but instead he said he was the catch and proceeded to be disrespectful saying he wasn’t interested till he saw her follower count, she sent him a way pics and his response was to say “bro, what is this”, etc. I know low-vibrational men don’t like to think too deep, especially when information doesn’t fit their narrative, but it’s really not that hard to understand why Mr.Biles’ statements got people upset.

No. If a woman says she is a catch and you can clearly see she is not people will say she is not. Exactly like this, in comparison to simone she is the catch. Why didn't he say she is a catch or something complimentary to her, instead of bringing it back to himself.
It is not a one off comment, its his overall demeanor, comments could come from people with life experience who have had comments like this from partners who they are no longer with who can see the signs of an insecure man. That is not hating that is protecting her.
My friend became a doctor and her partner said jokingly she can doctor but can't load the washing machine haha. We took it as a joke I.e. she was always working in the hospital when in reality he was mad she had a career one better than his, he was insecure and because she is the woman she's should do all the chores. He would always belittle her in public just like this. She broke up with him eventually and she doing we and he knew my brother stating he was the catch and she let the best thing in her life go.
