Thanks for taking the time to do this. Your results agree with what I'd read on forums and now find myself agreeing with. To me the Auratone 5c's sound good and are just slightly limited bandwidth. The Avantones are even more limited (esp the highs), but also change the frequency curve too much and aren't as flat. I'll be getting the Auratones!
Yes, thanks for doing this comparison. I agree with everything above!
Definitely the auratone 5c’s ! Awesome review 🤘
Great comparison video. Awesome🎉👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks for the experience!
Very useful!! Thanks a lot!
great comparison
Appreciate this 👍👍
Auratone: balance, plasticity, depth, nice sound
Avantone: too sharp treble, shallow with a slight echo, a bit unfilled
Winner: Auratone
Thanks-- just the video I was looking for. I was about to pull the trigger on some Avantones, glad I saw your video first. The transient response and clarity of the Avantones just isn't there. I have Auratone 5MCVs (three drivers in a rack mountable box) and I feel like their FC response skews a bit too high. I wanted to try Fostex 6301s but in every UA-cam test they sound like they have a huge spike in the high end-- hi hats, for example, come out crazy-loud and harsh. Anyway, i think I'll just trade in my Auras for single cubes, or maybe just one, where the mid point of the midrange seems just a bit lower. I think the older drivers are better, or at least more to my liking.
This was extremely helpful. I was poised to buy the avantones . Not now. Auratones 5c 👍
Auratones are the original mix cubes, they stopped making them and then Avantone and other replicas has appeared. But later on, Auratone came back!
Also, Auratone is 100% "made in the USA" - except the amp in the active version - it's made in Europe, by Bettermaker (in Poland) I think.
While China can also produce products of good quality, I don't see any point in funding the chinese communist party - considering the horrendous ways they're treating minorities, and blatantly copy the West's R&D and IP.
Quality-wise, the Auratone 5C is great. I own it.
Thanks
Where can I find the orange set of mixcubes from ? They sound good also
You can find facebook link in the description. They are made by small polish manufacture.
kinda difficult to compare the two bc of a random third offering and the order you put em in plus musical shifts, but whatever amp was used will affect things a bit too.
What was your toughts and during usage when with these. (As u was witg them in real room). U went witg the 5c?
I returned the avantones in favor of the 5c's more "flat" sound and better build quality. The avantones have that nasal resonance
which I am not a fan of.
Is it just me, or does the Avantone sound out of phase?
Avantones 1 Box Mono is the Key !!!
you kept Blurring a Set of Cubes which company are they I Kinda Heard them With A lot Of Definition
Thanks for the comparison; however, it would be much better to see measurements.
Auratone 5c's has a nice flat sound. Avantone sound honky as if it has a nose lol. I own Avantone's smh, I'll be making the switch. Just bought NS10s now I Need Auratones.
The gammas hype the high mids compared to the reference which isnt good, because for me i struggle with them for metal mixes, ass too much is death, and too little is flat bore.
Avantone wins.
People who want to buy this for mixing or listening and says auratone sounds great, this system is not for u, just buy the budget adam T series for example.. Avantone and Auratone intended for shit control and doesn't have to sound good.. another question for author, how do these systems achieve broadcast of mixes to another household audio..
These are proffesional midrange (only) speakers, but imo auratone's midrange sounds great. Of course they don't reproduce highs and lows, so if you are after listening to music, pick for instance 2 way design. They are meant for "shit control" only if your midrange is shitty. Personally I would pick auratones and pair of headphones everytime instead of budget 2 way system for mixing purposes.
I'm sorry but I didn't get your second question, could you explain it?
@@gbylina I guess he meant to ask how these monitors translate, i.e. how well a mix which is done on these monitors sounds on other speakers and audio systems. For instance, Aauratone's sound might be more pleasing to the ears, but Avantones, because they sound harsh and unforgiving, are better suited for mixing decisions and translating to various sources. I haven't used either of them, so I can't compare, but I'm thinking of buying either Avantones Mixcubes or their CLA10, or maybe Auratones.
@@horriblemindTo be honest it does not really matter which one you pick as long as you get used to the speaker by listening to the reference tracks. Both translate well although I would pick auratone.
In my opinion, and its just my perspective...a single Avantone mono summed is where it's at.
Having both the new Auratone and the Avantone in my studio, I found the Avantone to be the "one". The whole point of double checking your final cut (mastering) is to hear what it would sound like on a clock radio, laptop speaker(s), crappy car radio...its supposed to sound great from all sources.
Im not sure why people seem to be focused on how they sound in general...these are not supposed to be HiFi speakers. These are supposed to sound like $hit and make you focus on the mids to the point where you can start getting surgical with your EQ.
If i can get a mix to sound good on an Avantone then practically my tracks/work translates amazing on everything.
To be clear. I have proper studio monitors (Kali, Focal, Dyn), more than just one pair and headphones (DT770s) so i make sure it sounds good but the most important is getting the mids to sound perfect...which through my experience a mono Avantone is where its at. My studio in Toronto has a pair of NS10s and love mastering with them. My new studio in Europe I went with the single Avantone and it is wonderful. Make it sound good on that single speaker and then it's showtime. All hi res (mastered) tracks sound amazing on the Avantone (Dua Lipa, Fleetwoodmac, Boris Brecha, Roger Waters....a long list).
Conclusion, the Auratones sounded to pretty...sounded too nice in the studio, I have my main studio monitors for that. It has to sound like $hit to properly EQ...not pretty out of the "box".
2 cents :)
Great video! Proves which "one" (mono) to go with. Ciao!
Exactly my thoughts
That was so helpful! Thank you for that very much!
looks like a message sponsored by avantone...
