If you have the option, cut a groove in the crack, Tig weld and seal. This repair is usually done with Tig so you can put more material in without putting too much heat in the metal.
I did this job on my e46 about 10 years ago. Instead of taking the subframe off i cut an access hole in the boot, removed the mounting brackets cleaned it all up and welded it up and then welded the boot back up.
Don't know if you'll see this. I have the problem right now. Going to "attack it" this weekend. How did you fix the lower part if you just went through the boot side? I want to reinforce boots side aswell. But if I don't have to take subframe off that would be nice lol
@@JoshuaDeanHealey you get to the lower part by cutting through the boot floor, you will need to go through two seperate layers before you get to the bracket.Mine had rotted out around the bracket that the subframe bolts into.I removed the bracket, welded up the floor and welded the bracket back on and then welded up the boot floor when i was done.
brother please just undo the brake lines and abs sensors and drop the whole assembly its faster and you are not fighting axles and bungieing the world lol
laughable. common fault a frame crack!!!!! a crack in the frame and subframe is unthinkable and shocking to a car to be passed as common and so lightly. i am sure that if there was this dangerous fault in another company you would have barked like mad dogs against it.

I love this guys accent, his video editing and his work. only 28k as of oct 2018 i hope this channel gets big.
Het geluid van een perfect afgesteld mig/mag-apparaat is het mooiste wat er is :)
heel interessante video blijf zo door gaan! hoe meer video's hoe beter!
I need to find what aluminium alloy is the chasis made of. Is it pure Al?
Great video thanks for sharing dhis information.
Wish bmw would have recalled this. Just but one an didn't know about the bad subframe. It's pretty bad on my left side in the rear 😭
Same, mine is basiclaly completely out, did u fix it?
Was recalled until 2010
when doing the subframe reinforcement also rebuild the diff mount and add a rear right mounting point, this will even out the load on the subframe
Mig weld?
Please tell me you welded the crack before welding the reinforcement plates
Would weld it for extra strength
SALUT avez vous souder la cassure avant ? et protégé de l oxydation future ?
Great edit
goeie engels man! nice video
Wow, good job!
Haal je ook alitjd de accu er wel uit? Voor de veiligheid is dat erg belangrijk bij dit soort dingen.
My e46 320i has the exact same kind of damage
This can be welding with stick weld?
Can you TIG weld these instead of MIG?

@@stewartdcampbell I see what you mean! Cool thanks for the reply 🙏👍
I was thinking about doing this, did u put extra metal plates to reinforce just in case?
Hey was this e46 an m3?? Or non-m?
I remember when Luca used to upload videos :(
Hope you are ok man
I'm sorry. I've been really busy the past few weeks. I will do my best to edit and upload a video this week :)

Hey! Waar heb jij die reinforcement platen vandaan? Mijn chassis is nog erger gescheurt als op de video..
Amazon sells the repair kit
yes!
Can a e46 320i broke the chassis
Yes, I have that. Although it's not this bad
@@bladermusics ok, jajaj thanks

it will crack again...all this frame is a big basic errors of normal conception....
Welding it ain't good?
if it’s reinforced and welded properly it shouldn’t crack again..
Definitely with the type of repair he did here. Wasnt a very thorough repair and reinfocement
