I LOVE this song, although I can't understand a single word :) I'm from Holland and have been an Emil Chau fan since 2002. The last couple of years I didn't buy any new cd's but I have about 25 of his older cd's. He has such a wonderful voice that it doesn't matter to me that I don't understand it because I listen more with my heart than my ears :)
Agree. He really has an impressive and unique vocal texture. Apart from this, his composition is also unique, applying complex music theory but smooth. Born and grown up in Hong Kong, his music style was influenced by early minor scale Cantonese songs, and then he has became a fan of British rock since middle school. Later he come across the famous folk song renaissance movement in Taiwan while studying math at the best university there, and this is also when he learned Mandarin and decided to enter the music industry. Also, his wife is American. The multi-cultural background and many different music influences made him unique.

友情提示。。凤阳花鼓 是安徽北部的戏剧。。。古时候。。。。安徽北部常常受灾，大家穷的只能出去乞讨。。乞讨的时候唱歌求赏。。。唱的歌就是这个。。不是过年听的歌。。更不是喜庆的歌。。。
我就是安徽人祖上凤阳😂 编曲换了意境不同了，赋予这首古曲新的生命我觉得未尝不可。不一定经典就不能改编吧。
