- I dig out my old Mamiya workhorse and see if it is still worth shooting medium format film. Will a camera I haven't picked up in a decade work at all? All will be revealed (over a couple of episodes)...
The RB67 is an amazing camera and one I've always lusted after, but it's never quite been compact enough for me. I much prefer the scale of the Hasselblad and the auto features that comes with the 203FE. The RB67 captures beautiful images though and I've seen it used successfully by a documentary wedding photographer, so it does work. Get yours fixed and it'll be good forever. 😅
At one time, I used three Mamiya medium format TLR cameras (C3, C22, and C220) with the following lenses:
180mm f/4.5
80mm f/2.8
55mm f/4.5
When it was time for me to replace my worn-out wedding cameras and lenses, I replaced them with two Mamiya RB67 medium format SLR cameras and the following lenses:
180mm f/4.5
90mm f/3.8
50mm f/4.5
The two features I liked were:
1. 6x7cm larger image size
2. Interchangeable film backs
The two features I disliked were:
1. Loud mirror slap
2. Larger camera size and heavier weight
