I would recommend calling the Christians who are not catholic "protestant" or "orthodox," obviously depending on whether they are protestant or orthodox, to differentiate them from catholic, because calling them "Christian" and the others "catholic" seems to imply that catholicism isn't a sect of Christianity, which is false.
The largest branch or division of Christianity are Roman Catholics, and Protestants and Eastern Orthodox are the other major branches or divisions of the religion.
Just call all Catholics, Orthodox, and Protestants "Christian" otherwise to be fair, you'd have to divide Buddhists into Mahayana, Theravada, and Tibetan. Muslims would be Shia, Sunni, and Bahai, etc.

This the narrow way that Matthew talks about in the Bible. Anything else does not qualify.
Catholic means UNIVERSAL. Where there is Jesus Christ, there is the Universal Church, so Catholics are, above all, Christians. I am from Poland, which is 90% Christian. Salvation is grace received through the blood of Christ and not for good deeds. We should imitate Christ and live the Gospel, receive the sacraments, participate in the Eucharist.

The original Christian church was the Catholic church and the ones that seperated are called Protestants: Baptist, Presbyterian, Methodist etc. they separated from the Catholic Church that's why the are called Protestans.
