What I hate about the newer sets (2016 etc) is the percentage of parts that are plastic. I’m strong with the wrench and the amount of plastic pieces I have ended up splitting is unreal. Favourite one I’ve done is the red arrow as that kit had almost no plastic parts at all
What are the chances of me finding a video on the 9550 kit made yesterday. I got mine as a gift about 7 years ago and was just going to get into it. I'm working out which model to build, either outboard motor or the turning crane. Happy new year and take care.
Nice set, I have a couple, but I do miss the metal or plastic plates, maybe we should start cutting up cardboard to make our own plates as was done nearly 100 years ago. PS. I forgot about the "holepuncher" in the newer sets, but it does not form circular holes.
A fair few might disagree, but I think cutting up cardboard and using the holepuncher would be absolutely on point. I have used it a few times, and the advantage of it is that it gets the spacing between holes accurately. The holes aren't circular, but they're fine for getting bolts through - if you saw the bit of paper being lifted by the crane in this video, those holes in it were formed by the holepunch. I actually think the models in this set look good anyway. It's one of my very favourite Meccano colour schemes.
A disappointment : mine came as a gift but! NO names on parts or models I am more an old traditionalist. It certainly does not have the educational benefits of the older sets. There are not the gears to build more complex gearboxes .the parts are much smaller. But I like some of the 1/4 inch spacing of holes I also have the set to build the "Eiffel tower" similar complaint but in the front of that instruction book it suggests that you can also build a bridge , Yes a photo but not one word of instructions. I have been in Meccano about 60 years!
Esse kit Meccano parece ser muito bom.

I know a lot of people feel like that. Personally I'm fine with the new parts.

It's an old set, so you won't find it on Amazon or the like. You'll have to look on eBay.
