Nobody likes to hear their own voice more than KFC, the man just loves to interrupt people.
This was genuinely very interesting insight from Dave into his founder brain and how he's actively protecting as many people as he can going forward, knowing cuts are part of the formula but clearly looking out for those that have been around a long time and have made a name for themselves. It's definitely not the corporate, standard move firing someone who keeps their head down, pumps out blogs like a robot versus someone like Smitty who just last week had a scandal of slacking off and taking advantage of the system. But that is ultimately the beauty of Barstool and Dave, loyalty is king for him and he makes no apologies for it. As a fan, you have to respect that. Loved this episode

A conversation like this reveals how much some of these guys (with the exception of Dave) know and don't about the business side. They've got great instincts and know the broad strokes super well, but they're lacking on the detail... like how to structure an incentivized comp plan, to rationalize a bleeding p&l, or to model an operating and finance strategy to drive growth. They're just riffing.
I actually really liked Matt Fitzgerald. One of the better numbers guys on the blog low key too.
