I absolutely adore this thing, he's so cool looking. I'm glad to actually have him. That being said the lack of bicep is kinda infuriating when he's essentially got two wrist swivels and two thigh swivels. They could've like shifted the port or something i dunno
I haven't seen the movie, so I don't know the background behind that Autobot symbol on Shockwave's arm - but it kinda gives me the impression that he dismantled an Autobot and used their parts to repair himself, which is both metal as hell and oddly fitting for Shockwave.
There's no in-universe background behind it lol. He takes part in a relatively small scene taking place on Cybertron that was added into the movie last minute. So a lot of the characters in that scene are designed out of Optimus Prime's cg model for simplicity's sake and efficiency, since it was so last minute. That's why he's got Optimus Prime's spine detail, feet, forearms, etc. the Autobot symbols on the forearms are just a leftover from Optimus' cg model that they either forgot to remove, or decided it was a small enough detail that nobody would see it and wouldn't be worth removing It does imply some interesting in-universe lore though, gets the brain gears turning. Shockwave in Transformers Animated had a disguise as an Autobot to spy and I think that's the headcanon backstory I'm gonna use for this guy to explain the symbols

But, if you wanted to headcanon a reason, then maybe he has it because of his Senator days? Idk. I only know that he was a Senator in IDW, I don't actually _know_ know.
I really dug the Siege leader class version, but he really needs his own thing. Unless they can figure out a killer tank mode I’d love to see him as something new.

It is strange that he doesn't have a Bicep swivel, because the core had it. Both bicep and forearm, plus the arm rotated and just tabs into the back of the shoulder to secure the arm. Idk why they didn't decide to just upscale all of it frkm the core figure, it's so odd.
Definitely going to be picking this guy up - already liked the core, this is basically just that figure upscaled with much nicer detailing, and it fixed the one issue I had with the core - which was how in tank mode the head was just looking backwards from the turret.
Funnily enough Generations Warpath from way back when actually kind of had a solution to this problem. It had no bicep swivel where you expect it to but it does have a mushroom peg at the elbow joint, meaning you can move the arm out like a traditional bicep swivel and it still looks pretty alright.

I feel like in the next Transformers. Movie that they do after Transformers. One maybe in the GI Joe 1 Cross over I am not particularly sure, but i believe shockwaves should turn into Panzer tank. I don't know we're just feels alright coz that we'll get the g one accurate Arm cannon.
There was only, like, 1 or 2 who had a bad altmode. Brawn's was cool, Jackie's was good, Arcee, B-127 & Cliff, Ratchet & Ironhide & Megs. The only one who had a not-the-greatest-attempt at an altmode is Soundwave. & even that wasn't even _that_ bad. If/when I get him, I'd probably fanmode into a hovertank or something. So, no big deal, really.

I just got Studio Series Bayverse Shockwave and he is one of the sickest transformers ever. This Bumblebee version does not spark any feelings like that for me.

I agree. This is my only gripe with this shockwave design, outside of the yellow eye. He needs a red eye, and the gun barrel needs to be much bigger, like DOTM or Aligned/TFP size
Loved this design when we got the mini figure. As a prime fan, i really liked their nods to it. My voyager is coming Monday, so I'm so excited to have it in hand.

Also despite having him for weeks now you showed me something I didn't know, that the gun extends, I somehow missed that on the instructions, I do like that you don't have to tuck the left hand away for the gun arm if you don't want to, as it fits in the space that is left empty when you do. I wish the Optimus Prime from the Bumblebee movie was this big.
To think that they didn't borrow the feet, thighs, and maybe the elbows of the Core class Shockwave and make a Core class Bumblebee Optimus Prime - and then retool the chest and the truck cab front into a Core class RotB Optimus Prime. His CGI model was made by modifying assets from Optimus. He's still got a tiny Autobot symbol on his arm in the movie.

I just got this at target earlier for 11$ no bs and I love how he displays with bb Megatron, Soundwave and earthrise Starscream
My First impression of getting this in person is that it looked like a premium high end figure as opposed to a $50 figure.
Isn't it only $30-35? Where are you? Here in the US at least, Voyagers are $30-35.
