Top of the Pops - 1984

An edition of the Top of the Pops from 26th January 1984. The theme here is Phil Lynott's 'Yellow Pearl". This is the second variant of this title sequence, first used on the 1000th edition broadcast 5th May 1983.

I still say this was the best titles TOTP ever had. As a kid I used to think that was a rotating cushion lol. Someone only told me a few years ago that it is in fact, a telly! Yet to me, it looks nothing like a telly, and what is it doing, is flowing through a time tunnel or something? It is almost like I need to be high to understand it lol. I also preferred this version of "Yellow Pearl". shame they never released. I was hoping with the TOTP repeats, they might put the full version on YT or if Midge Ure had a copy. I wonder if he would respond if I messaged him?

The date reckons this is from 26th January 1984 with Mike Smith and Richard Skinner hosting and Madonna and Cyndi Lauper made their debut on this edition, unfortenately i have this one in poor quality with the opening titles and BBC ident missing..
