i had this on repeat for over 1.5 hours, its quite good
I have it on 1.1 speed
My first successful playthrough of highfleet often had me sending the Sevastopol out to fight strike groups and me yelling "SEVASTOPOL!" mid fight with the music blaring and the guns roaring. I can't help but get pumped when I hear it.
After getting over my fears of the strike groups and especially after designing my own ships, Tanc a Lelek plays for the strike group when they bump into my squadron.
This is one of the ways that Highfleet's balance is brilliantly designed. Tense, desperate and cathartic battles emerge dynamically from the system rather than needing to be scripted. If the player overuses Sevastopol they will get chewed up by missiles until they die so they get trained to avoid using the big ship.
Except eventually, the strike group will be where you didn't expect it to be, and your Scarabs and other maneuverable workhorse gunships will be too battered to fight. So the player gets this feeling of being backed into a corner, Tanc a Lelek plays... and then, after holding it back prudently, you are left no choice but to bring out the Sevastopol, and it tears its way through the enemy fleet singlehanded.
There's also not buying the Sev and spamming frigates and smaller instead. Allows you to cover more ground and gives you some super neat incentive to NOT engage SGs.
Unless, of course, you're one of those nutsos who kills those things with Lightnings.
@@typehere6689 I actually lov setting up 4-5 different fleets. Makes me think I'm an actual HQ general that commands his troops in strategically important locations. There is also no better feeling then triangulating an enemy missile carrier and then sending out 50 Bomber fighters from 4 angles. Also helps with missile diversion or planted diversion that attract missile and Strike groups.
Then at the finale my Medusa (selfmade flagship) and/or sevastopol comes in and fucks those Nuke bases right the F up!
A lightning is still looting and can't evade the SG? Well how about I send in a swarm of K-15 nuclears from the supporting 3 missile carriers doted around in an 2000km radius?
God this game is so good.
That precludes stripping their burning wrecks for loot, though.
@@typehere6689 Everything is possible if you commit a couple of war crimes and go for a ram. In this case, even the largest ship will be broken into 2 parts. But since Lightning is too expensive for this, I created a special ram brick in the editor. And speaking of the editor, you can build a huge square in it with a huge bunch of guns and 3+ layers of armor and stop being afraid of a direct hit from a nuclear missile, because the missile will be destroyed due to the density of fire from the main caliber, and if not, then the armor will forgive it, and even one layer will remain. I love Highfleet because at the beginning of the game you are afraid of everything, but when you become a good player, SGs become just another hindrance.
When everything is going wrong and your fleet is low on fuel nuclear winter setting in the IR search and track is lit up like a disco and the pretend phone is dialing all numbers...
Just remember you are given nuclear weapons.
And if you can't win no one else can.

...you arrive onto a ship, a ship which towers over you, a ship that's seemingly invincible. you want to join this new adventure and sign papers, your given a shirt and boots with someone's name already on them, the recruiter removes them and tells you to take it. you are but a 17 year old boy, you walk around the city of a ship and hear many languages, which seemingly everyone understands. one catches your eye, it comes from a man whom is battle scarred, as he is missing some limbs and an eye, he tells you to sit after you introduce yourself to him, he tells you the tales of the last engagement and how they are winning. he asks you of your story , and he listens to your tale of your life. he grabs a nearby bottle and pours it out onto a mug, he asks if you also want one, you say yes with a nervousness in your accent. you both drink and have meals, and then he asks you to follow him. it is dark now, and an announcement comes on the loud speaker of a strike fleet heading your way. you still follow the man up to the balcony of the ship. he tells you to look down as the mammoth of a ship takes off. the man asks you to go to his barracks and take a free bed, as the place is quite crowded, you wait and see dozens of ships take off. you finally retire to your room, when you are awaken by a siren, the old man grabs a instrument, and tells you to follow him to the nearest post. you do as he wishes. you sit down on a gunners seat, as the man takes a crate and sits on it, you blast the cannon with a thunderous blast, as you hear the old man playing the instrument from behind you, just as you see a ship come into view.....
