Awesome! I can’t imagine putting a brushless system in my Lunchy. It’s super fast, but for me it would be boring driving back and forth.🤣 I did that to my Blackfoot and I got very bored going just back and forth no fun at all. I ended up putting a Tamiya super stock BZ motor and now it’s way much more fun than my brushless system I had in there. Great job on the speed run though!
I recently put a BZ SS motor into my 2016 BF reissue too....Runs like a bat out of hell! Also upgraded to the MIP ball differential which is a must-have for that gearbox
👍👍 This was my first model I bought way back in 1990…1/12 scale Tamiya Lunch Box. 👍👍. *I can remember working and saving my money, ran a Futaba am radio system, a Tekin ESC, and 12 turn trinity power brushed motor. (That was a damn long time ago….)
Thats nuts. Hahaha I'm surprised the gearbox holds up to the power....AND the motor isn't hot. I had my Clodbuster doing well over 30 many years ago using Astro Flight Pullmaster Motors and 12 rechargeable D cells. Then eventually used two 7 cell packs(yes , this was before brushless and lipos). Man....the Tamiya plastic was not forgiving at all. At that power level it seemed to break every time I took it out.
I installed an Ampro diff locker in the gearbox. Makes it a little more durable then stock. This is a re-issue so maybe they improved the quality of the plastic gears. The body is still made of brittle ABS plastic.
@@soulrebelrc6341 Thats awesome to hear about the plastic. My Clod was 1st-gen. Bought it in 1989. Hoping to buy another one and a Midnight Pumpkin or a Lunchbox. Oh...forgot to to tell you "Cool rig and video ".
I'm truly impressed that you can do so many passes, and I hear the tires scrubbing, yet you don't flip it, as far as I've watched into the video. Is the scrubbing due to the diff being locked, or is it you correcting the path so that it doesn't veer to one side?
It's probably more from the diff being locked but could be a combo of both. It's definitely less forgiving running it on the street with the locked diff especially when using 3s.
Nice! Gtta love the old vintage stuff!
Has that 80's vibe you have to love. One of my favorite Tamiya's
@@soulrebelrc6341 I have soft spot for Tamiya lol
38 is impressive! Nice looking truck!
Thats a proper Lunchbox speed run. At least it actually looks like a Lunchbox.
You have inspired me! I built a 3s 4600kv Lunchbox.👍👍
That's dope bro!
Oh love this… mine is coming on Monday so I’ll see what I can do with mine
I’ve a brushless monster beetle hitting 34mph on 2s and an 18t pinion gear
This thing is def at the limit of the stock gearing on 3s.

Thanks man 👍 I ramp jump my lunchy if I get bored with it. 😁

Wow you were brave. I only ever run mine on 2s and it tops out at 25mph which is plenty for such an unstable truck. Top work!
Thank your sir. I've only ran the 3s a couple times for speed runs because its to much power

Yeah buddy , it's my favorite old school Rc . Always wanted a lunch box as a kid so I had to get one.
38 MPH on a Lunch Box is insane!
Damn man!!! I think it's pretty fast bro, I had the yellow one in the '80s. I don't remember it being that fast 👍
I'm going to gear up 3 teeth on the pinion and try to crack 40mph
@@soulrebelrc6341 *It will, just adjust your steering endpoints and steering rate…lol, otherwise “she is gonna roll, and roll, and roll”.
@@rcmadlabz2492 I had the rate turned up high at first it was very squirrelly.
Thats wicked. What do i need to buy to make mine this fast 😁
Thats nuts. Hahaha

If you hit the curb that would pretty much implode into tiny pieces
I was thinking that I would roll it and send it into a million pieces. I got lucky.
Oh hellz yeah 👍🏽 I'm taking my Spectra firma out of my Traxxas, and I'm sticking it in my lunch box! Problem solved
lunch box is fast😀👌👍👍😎
Must be faster 👍✌️
It's very fast 💪
😁😁👌👍
You need 18T pinion.
Your rite, I definitely need a bigger pinion.
What size pinion gear do your run
It's the stock pinion, I think it's 10t
