About The Carol Burnett Show
While there’s no truth to the rumor that “CBS” ever stood for The Carol Burnett Show, for eleven seasons and 278 episodes, this star-studded extravaganza of sketch comedy, song and dance became entertainment central for the network and TV viewers. Burnett operated in a relaxed theater setting that allowed her to take questions, cut loose with her famous Tarzan yell and join fellow performers Harvey Korman, Tim Conway, Vicki Lawrence and Lyle Waggoner to have a laugh or sing a song. The show received 25 Emmy Awards and eight Golden Globes, making it one of the most honored shows in television history.

Nancy Wilson you were a total talent, RIP!
Carol Burnett ...Best variety show ever....
I’m 62 and I adore her now more than the good ole days
One of my favorites; I saw it in the window, and I just had to have it. It's a good thing Harvey was Rhett ... If it had been Tim I suppose all Hell would have broken loose
... Unless ...
Nancy Wilson is stunning here! Designer Bob Mackie did an amazing job on her costume. What an amazing singer!
Loved seeing Nancy Wilson and Bernadette Peters ! What a gem of an episode. Thank you Carol Burnett 💗
Bernadette Peters is such a phenomenal talent, and cute as a button to boot!
My mind is blown!! Some sense of humanity, of decency, has preserved this, the greatest of the great, for us! WHAT!!!??!!!
I'd go a little lighter on the decency part, but yeah. No argument here.
And the eye for great comedy!!!!
I've always loved her! She and Lucille Ball are the best who ever lived.
"I suppose they're going to take my Emmy away."
LOL, love it! Also I hope Harvey didn't hurt himself too much during his entrance. Been there, done that, and OUCH!
Everyone was having trouble manoeuvring around her dress. Watch the dancers tread very carefully around it. Harvey was the only casualty 🤣
Bernadette Peters is so adorable and cute 🥰 lol
When he fell and carol broke character I was DYING
Which one?
Nvm 🤣🤣
There will never be comedy like The Carol Burnett Show. I am so blessed to live in a time where comedy was funny, natural. Not like the so called comedy that the only laughs happen when.there is set talk & curse words
I know right!
Still the best.... always will
I feel as if Carol and I grew up together. I remember watching her on The Gary Moore show in my pajamas and immediately experiencing my first crush. I don’t know if she reads these but if so I would like to tell her how much I love her work and how much happiness she brought into my life I’m an old guy with two little dogs and every time I watch her now on MeTV, I get a lump in my throat at the end of the show when she sings. Thank you Carol.
Saturday Night, 10 PM, CBS, after Bob Newhart. Our family around the TV without fail for Carol. I love that this has a bit of Bernadette Peters in it. Still the #1 draw on Broadway at age 71 and still a smoking body!
Love this show. Carol and the gang were all wonderful very talented. I could watch 24/7 ❤❤❤❤❤
Bernadette is adorable. I love her. I love everyone on this show. Especially Carol
Love Carol Burnett. Still laugh even though I have seen them hundreds of times
I don't know if Carol ever recorded an album but hearing her sing "I'm so glad we had this time together" she has an amazing voice.
Search Julie Andrews and Carol Burnett at Carnegie Hall and you’re in for a treat.
I have two of her albums "If I Could Write a Song"(1972) and "Let Me Entertain you"(1964) Also, here is a reference page for her recorded music. www.discogs.com/artist/778234-Carol-Burnett
@@ScottFieldsSWF Thanks for the info and link 👍🏽
@@jaykay1053 I'll look for that, thank you 👍🏽
@@ScottFieldsSWF - And at the time of "If I Could Write A Song," Ms. Burnett was signed to then-CBS owned Columbia Records.
Carol’s Carmen Miranda impressions always had me floored.
And Bernadette Peters…😍
I love Carol Burnette. My mom said that Carol was my girlfriend I liked watching her so much.
It appears that Bernadette Peters is pregnant in this episode. I can't imagine dancing like she did in the Wall Street number while I was pregnant! Kudos to her!
Bernadette Peters didn't have children.
I have a niece that doesn't have any children either... but she's been pregnant 3 times. :'(
@@anniesmomfirst Bernadette was a famous 21-year-old single women with a lot to lose in 1969. It's unlikely that she would be permitted to perform visibly pregnant on such a widely-viewed family show. According to her, she has struggled with her weight her whole life, so it is more likely that she's just a little more curvy than usual here.
I think that Bernadette was a little curvy here too but also the custom looked odd and I believe made her appear bigger then she actually was.
Does anyone remember Happy Days. My whole family loved the show.
Sunday Monday happy days!
Fireside chat is hilarious
Love MAE EAST & 1st FAMILY
Best Show Ever!
How could Lyle managed to keep his poker face in the first family skid I don't know. I can't if I was there.
wonderful dancing!!!! gorgous, so brilliant!!!!
Vicky's ditzy laugh and voice cracks me up, she's so good at it!
Thanks again for uploading these.
Nancy Wilson looked beautiful
I love duh other episode of Carol Burnett when she plays ms East she smacked herself on the chest and white dust comes out of her 🤣🤣🤣
Wasn't there an episode where they did a sketch (Carol and Harvey, and maybe Tim/Vicki/Lyle but can't quite remember) where it just absolutely did not work?! Rare that anything on this show didn't work - like, it never happened except maybe twice or three times in 11 seasons. In the sketch, Carol said, "Don't be surprised if I show up at your doorstep..." then she starts laughing and says, "Better yet, BE SURPRISED because I am NEVER doing this again!!"
Luv 'Mae East' skit😄🤙
Bernadette is one of the sexiest women ever, and one of the sweetest I ever met.
LOL!
Was Bernadette pregnant in this? I will always love Carol.
I'm here for Nancy Wilson and Bernadette Peters. They don't sing like that anymore!
Oh My that Fruit Number ❤❤❤❤❤❤ I have DIED ❤❤❤❤❤❤HAHAHAHAHAHA ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤SO LOVE IT ❤❤❤❤
Playing the accordion was too painful! Lol
Lyle kept a straight face the entire time!
@Carol Burnett Thank you Carol. We have all the dvd's from all your shows. Every one of them is a joy and a credit to you and the cast for your talents. And sometimes for your imagination!
Little known fact Mae West was teetotal since she was 17! We miss you Mae! ♥️
The Burgundy Street Singers originated at some university in the midwest I think. They were together for no more than maybe 5 years, made a few recordings I believe, and got some bookings on variety shows and then that was the end.
and before you know it, comes the time when we have to say so long,,,,
Excelente y bonita 😍😊😄💪💪💪
I would watch this show from1967 to the last 78, but I don't remember this episode. I just corrected the number.
So good :)
Good 🤣🤣
What a clean wholesome show. Too bad we have trash 🗑 today.
love ya.
Exelente
Escenario perfecto 💪
👏👏👏
En los 70 las personas tenían mejores modales que ahora y la comedia era mas apta para todo el público que en ésta década.
Is that Elaine Joyce as the neighbor?
It was. I love her.
There are at least 8 minutes missing from this episode, but I guess it's better than nothing. Thanks!
Whatever happened to the Burgundy Street Singers? I read that they originated at a university - made a splash for a brief while and then that was it. It must've been due to the times, the stuff they were singing was dated and they couldn't go on forever. They were lucky to get a spot on the Burnett Show though! A real feather in their cap, as it were!
Harvey Korman was supposed to be Richard Nixon here 8:00
31:39 - NOT intentional!! And then he goes into the Ricky Ricardo tune. But the big ad-lib comes at 32:52
Is it hot in here or am I turning my self on..!? 🤣😂😂
Do you think Graeham Nash has gotten over the shock yet?
She's just as good Lucy Ball was!
To many ads.
To bypass ads sometimes ads start right away let ads play unless you see skip ads, then slide the red ball all the way at the end of video sometimes ads will play let it play or if it has skip ads when video is stopping playing at end, slide the red ball back at the start of video, no more annoying ads to interrupt your fave videos.
Ok guys! that first Mackie dress is horrible! I usually LOVE his designs. What happened? Actually I KNOW what happened. 😂
The dress she wore in the intro segment wasn't much but what she wore underneath made up for it. So I've heard. But then, you hear a lot. If they made me wear that dress, I'd be pretty pissed too.
I wonder if SNL stole some ideas from here.
Sex ed in school? Depending upon the teacher!!
Although Carol does well with the Mae East, I think Vicki could actually have done it slightly better! After all, she was unequalled at playing old women, like Thelma "Mama" Harper!
I find her clothes very odd. But it was awhile ago.
A private doesn't have the red stripes down the pant legs.
Love Carol, but her Mae West needed work.
Wow! That dress at the opening of the show was truly hideous. 🤣🤣🤣
The burgundy singers trumpet players forgot to play yet you heard trumpets lol. Not impressed
Vicki does a great Ivanka Trump...well, if she'd lived at the White House.
Hi Carol, if you ever read this, I'd like to see a video on Vicki's many voices maybe to honor her for her birthday or something please ❤
The sketches of Carol and sis w/ the girl who comes and parades in front of Harvey and Carol's insecurity are getting old tho I must say
