Knowing BTS in March 2018 my bias was Jin then after a few hours i shifted to Jungkook. But after 3 days after seeing this MV i started to stan Jimin. Since then it's always Jimin. Love you guys! Catherine has officially been biased wrecked by Jk in this video 😂 and I don’t blame her. That cop uniform is something else huh? And Jimin’s red hair is legendary hahaha anyways, there were some things that I wanted to explain to you guys in order to understand just how much thought they put behind every single song.
This was actually their way to clap back to criticism they had been getting about plagiarism and being copycats, so in the most Bangtan way they made a song about it. It is made more obvious in some lines than others; like J-Hope’s part when he says “We’re drenched (x3) in sweat in our practice room, Look my great (x3) dance moves prove it all” and Suga’s “Even if our youth rots in the studio, Thanks to that we are closer to success” that’s them basically telling people that the success they had they had earned themselves, with their hard work and determination. No plagiarism or copying needed. The most obvious of all is when Jimin sings “This is BTS style, nothing like those lying wacks” once again making it clear that their success is their own, nobody else’s and no help or cheating needed.
Because BTS is anything but one dimensional, they also use the chance to take some shots at the older generation. RM says “The media and grown-ups say we have no will, denouncing us, Why kill us before we can try” right after talking about giving up at 3 (Sampo), then 5 (Ohpo), then 6 (Yookpo). This alludes to what it’s been called the “give up generations” in South Korea. The numbers reflect what older people say that younger people’s type of lives and their circumstances have come to be in later years; referring to the cruel and competitive Korean job market system that caused youngsters to give up on many things.
Sampo generation is said to have given up on courtship, marriage and childbirth as a result of focusing all their efforts on doing good in school to have a better chance at scoring a good paying job in the future. Ohpo generation has given up on courtship, marriage, childbirth, employment and home ownership for the same reasons. Yookpo generation no longer care about courtship, marriage, childbirth, employment, home ownership, and interpersonal relationships according to what could be called Korea’s baby boomer generation; and so on and so forth.
So in summary, Dope is also BTS subtle dig at the media and older people, telling them that they were working tirelessly and restlessly not only because they had not been handed anything on silver platters but also because they couldn’t help but to make it harder for young people to succeed by criticizing them nonstop when all they were asking for was to be given a chance. That’s why RM also says “So can i get a little bit of hope? (Yeah) Wake your sleeping youth and go”.

When the album Hwa yang yeon hwa pt1 (the most beautiful moment in my life pt1) came armys were like please make video for track no. 7 and thanks to that bts decided to make a music video and they also had 1 week of promotional activities for this song back in 2015. Damn ur reaction brought back so many memories!! You know this song became very iconic and was used to introduce Bts to people who didn't know about bts internationally. Just want to share few things which happened back then.

Fun fact.. Jimin actually sang the high note, not Jungkook. At least in this mv and the studio version. In live performances, jungkook sings it himself. But if you listen closely the "I gotta make it fire baby" is Jimins voice.
