You've got to check out her track "CARIBBEAN BLUE" - the instrumentals together with Enya's vocals are what I imagine Heaven might sound like... It was a really popular track back in the day, as well. To me, her music is beautifully timeless.
That whole album Caribbean Blue is on "Shepard Moon" is amazing, the music is so relaxing and the channel separation of the her voice along with the instruments is incredible.
Enya's "Watermark" (including this song) was the reason I finally bought a CD player. I heard it playing in the Fort Wainwright Post Exchange on some nice stereo systems and was blown away by the sound. I used to eat Lunch at the Mess Hall in 30 minutes, go up to my room, sit in the lazy chair and fall asleep to this CD for 45 minutes, then wake up and go back to work.
I can still remember when I heard Orinoco Flow the first time. I bought the album on just that song. She is one of the very few artists that I'll buy their album not having heard a single song off it. (I have all her albums.)
When I was a kid someone gave my mom a copy of this tape. All it said was Enya Shepard's moon on both sides. My mom used to play that tape every night to fall asleep to. Lol.. funny you say this... it was this song that made me steal my dads cd player... to share this with my pals ha... god i got fuked up later..... worth it.
Enya has always made her songs by layering multiple tracks of her vocals to create an ethereal sound. She doesn't often perform live because she can only create this sound in a studio.
I remember reading somewhere that she didn't want to do concerts because she didn't want to surrounded by a dozen tape players (since she did everything herself). And for some reason, my mind just pictured her on stage with several water or fog screens showing her playing each of the instruments. It would be a band of her. If you could time some interactions between herselves, that would be even better. 🙂 Lota work on her part, though.
This came out in 88 when I was 12. We sang it in music class at school and our teacher split us up into different groups for all the different parts of the song. I still remember all the words lol.

She's so unique. Her whole family from Donegal in Ireland are talented musically. This song does feel like being whisked off to somewhere beautiful and it does just that with its sweeping visuals, harmonies and vocals. I love it.

I'd be happy to hear the songs live though in any format. Even if they were stripped back or she used a choir for some backing. I don't think she has to replicate exactly how they sound in the studio. I'm sure even if it was just Enya and a piano people would flock to these shows. I live in hope that one day it will happen.
Ohhhhhh! This woman's voice and her arrangements have truly captivated me over the years! I love her music. Her Shepherd Moons cd and her song Cursum Perficio are so very special!
First time I ever set foot on Irish soil I'd just landed in Dublin Airport and Cursum Perficio was blasting put of this music shop and this customer was singing along to the song loving the music.

Check out "May It Be" by Enya, or a Canadian folk-artist that somebody else mentioned, Loreena McKennitt. I'd recommend "The Highwayman" or "Mummer's Dance" by her.
Check out Clannad, her family band, which consists of her sister Maire & her twin Uncles......they are AMAZING & they have a song that has Bono from U2 on it.....🥰
Lots of people have commented about how she records and layers the way she does, so I don’t need to add to that. All I will say, is that she has her fan base, but I still think she is criminally underrated and under appreciated broadly speaking. So talented, such an incredible voice, such a beautiful lady and a beautiful person.
Can't tell you how happy I am you've found her! This mystical woman has gotten me through too many to mention dark times since I was a wee one. She, Kate Bush & Tori Amos have help cover over all manners of strife & worry. Pick anyone of Enya's tracks & I promise you won't be disappointed. Also, check out where Enya originated from musically by listening to 'Clannad'. Enya's sibling family & just as mesmerising. She lives in a castle as a recluse with never being married nor ever bearing children. She's kinda Ireland's "Queen".
Her song "Only Time" is just as amazing if not slightly more so. There's actually a very specific live version she does in a church setting for some Christmas Special on UA-cam, the video is called "Enya - Only Time Live Legendado Traduzido". Honestly mind blowing, highly recommend that video.
Goodness I love her! The entire shepherd moons album is GLORIOUS! Caribbean Blue is amazing. She can do no wrong. Full volume in headphones is the BEST!!!! By the way, you’re right: she IS her own orchestra!
My man. We gotta get you into some Clannad. That was the band she sang with back in the 80's with her kin and Maire Brennan. It's some straight up kinda irish an scots feeling pop folk. But it's more pretty much like this. They hit some popular movie soundtracks too, tho they're most known for the soundtrack they did for the TV Series, Robin of Sherwood. They also had one on the end of Last of the Mohicans. If you wanna hit Enya's first big solo effort, get a load of the album, "The Celts" which had some of its tracks used in the Steve Martin movie, "LA Story". But particularly, hit 'Aldebaran (Dedicated to Ridley Scott)' and 'I Want Tomorrow'.
Sailors from the beginning of time have recognized and used the currents and flow of water to navigate different oceans. They are still used today and sings about the different parts of the planet that they’ve witnessed. Is it new age or old ways?!❤️

She's a fabulous irish beauty that lives in a beautiful castle! I've loved that song since it came out and has been on my playlist for nearly 30 years now! and the synth is a fairlight cmi!
Try Clannad, "Theme from Harry's Game" (Enya used to be a part of this band as well). It's an Irish band, that usually sings in Gaelic. I don't understand the lyrics, but it's very mournfull.

The Orinoco is a huge river in South America. There's also an Orinoco Studios in London, where this and the rest of the groups 'Watermark' album was recorded. Orinoco Flow was used as a metaphor for the groups sailing off to success, all starting at the Orinoco Studios.. and Enya was considered the captain of the ship!

I love Enya...she mixes English with the Irish Gaelic Language. Absolutely Beautiful Voice...The Band Clannad, does the same style of music, I've been listening to them for 30+ years 🍀 💚🤍🧡 🍀
Enya's 'Book Of Days' is one of my favourite songs, which I first heard during an ad in 1993, and I totally fell in love. 'Orinoco flow' is also an incredible piece of music. It captures the flow and the motion of the water so beautifully! You can really get lost in the layers and her angelic vocal
Adore Enya. I could go to sleep listening to her every night. I hope you will do "Amarantine"... it's my favorite of hers. And here's a fascinating fact about this song and artist from Wikipedia: Leporinus enyae is a species of Leporinus fish discovered 2017 in the Orinoco River drainage area. It is named after the Irish singer Enya, whose major music hit "Orinoco Flow" deals with the Orinoco River, among others.

A friend introduced me to Enya, specifically this song, while we were sailing on a foggy Detroit River at 2am. “Otherworldly” comes to mind. It was quite an adventure.
There are some ditty's that I just want to sit back and watch and listen to in an IMAX cinema... this is easily one of them. Thanks for checking this beauty out :)
How wonderful that you are reacting to enya! Don't often see that UA-camrs react to songs by her. I've been a fan of hers myself since the 90s and while I definitely have favorite songs ("anywhere is" for example) I can say, that all of enya's music is my soul music
The way she does and layers the instrumentation and vocals paints a picture of being on the water. It's the same in Caribbean Blue. I'm always on the water in my mind when I listen to these songs.
She has no bad songs. I used to sit in a beanbag in my dorm room with the lights off and my eyes closed listening to her albums just to hear everything. "Storms in Africa" is one of my favorites and it's an instrumental. It's so beautiful that I have a video for the song constructed in my head.
Ah, this brings me back to my college days. Enya, Basia, Sade, Julia Fordham, Workshy, Everything But The Girl and so many more. They were great to listen to and chill during nighttime while alone in your room.
I wish I could listen to this song for the first time again..I was a kid when this was on the radio. I remember hearing it playing on the radio driving to church with my grandparents ( my grandpa died from covid in August) and also my mom listening to this for years while she was falling asleep at night, my little brother and I would sleep on her floor to also fall asleep to this music, it was so relaxing and we had a really tough childhood so to hear this kind of music was like fuel for our souls..the peace that would come through that little cassette player my mom owned, but even with crappy speakers this sounded like heaven to us.
Hard to overstate how huge this song was in the UK. #1 for 3 weeks and #18 in the full-year chart. I was 5 and loved the 'Sail away, sail away' parts and my parents loved the sweet vocals and everyone just loved it I think, even though 98% of people probably still think Sail Away is the title of the song.
Enya used a Roland D-50 and a Fairlight C.M.I. IIx and III as the main keyboards on this track. Enya used the vocoder built into the Fairlight. Enya also used a delay that has 16 seconds of delay to compose. The vocals are also multitracked
She was huge for a while in the UK Her music was so different and ideal for a relaxing night in. Her Album, Watermark, was put on often when I was younger
This was MASSIVE at the time. So unconventional for popular music but it totally broke through.

My father loved Enya, we played this at his funeral a few months ago
I love Enya...she mixes English with the Irish Gaelic Language. Absolutely Beautiful Voice...The Band Clannad, does the same style of music, I've been listening to them for 30+ years 🍀 💚🤍🧡 🍀
Enya's music never gets old, and always gives me chills from the sheer beauty of it. Love her!
I LOVE ENYA!! Her songs are so relaxing.. the music and her voice...
She plays all the instruments, backing vocals and produces...... Genius!
The Orinoco is a river in South America, the fourth longest river in the world.
And all the other bodies of water she names in the song.
More new age: Enya - Caribbean Blue and May It Be, Enigma - Beyond the Invisible, Era - Ameno, Karl Jenkins - Adiemus
Yes, Jayvee, Enya is definitely in a class all by herself. This is a wonderful song to get a spa treatment to. Very tranquil and beautiful.
This is..and will always be the channel for reactions..and will always be my mad nostalgia dreamy channel... this channel has one of the biggest catalogues of everything...its insane.. jay... take a bow ma man..... and thanks... love you... love the comunity to...
You can tell Jayvee's really captivated since he's LOVED so many of our comments!
Enya, there's nothing like this type of music 🎵❤❤❤❤
After Ventus is my favorite Enya song, but this is the first Enya song I ever heard and it's still incredible.
Her music is magical! ‘Caribbean Blue’ is also amazing, it was a huge hit
Honestly, I wondered when someone was going to react to Enya! When I was younger and had roommates, we listened to this CD all the time!
How wonderful that you are reacting to enya! Don't often see that UA-camrs react to songs by her. I've been a fan of hers myself since the 90s and while I definitely have favorite songs ("anywhere is" for example) I can say, that all of enya's music is my soul music
Kudos for your open heart..Shes genius
And uniqure...LOVE it♡
Can't go wrong with Enya. Thanks!
When I was a kid my mom had this on CD and I low key loved it. Now it just makes me think of the Drs office bc they play this while I’m on hold.
Wow is she stunningly beautiful. I like her song "paint the sky with stars". The whole album is amazing.
I love Enya and her music is soul soothing. Great for falling asleep to. 🔥
The way she does and layers the instrumentation and vocals paints a picture of being on the water. It's the same in Caribbean Blue. I'm always on the water in my mind when I listen to these songs.
My favorite Enya songs are I want Tomorrow, and Caribbean blue. Been listening to her since the 90s👍🏼
Jayvee, I loved your beautiful reaction, thank you. Eyna's music and songs are timeless Love from Ireland xx
Enya is a mega-talent! You might also want to check out: "On my Way Home", "China Roses" and "The Memory of Trees." Sheer musical beauty!
LOVE “ON MY WAY HOME”!!!!!
Irish ICON! Could listen to her all day! Her newest art is incredible. Echoes In Rain, beautiful!
Enya used a Roland D-50 and a Fairlight C.M.I. IIx and III as the main keyboards on this track. Enya used the vocoder built into the Fairlight. Enya also used a delay that has 16 seconds of delay to compose. The vocals are also multitracked
She was huge for a while in the UK
Her music was so different and ideal for a relaxing night in.
Her Album, Watermark, was put on often when I was younger
You put on Enya to get yourself to sleep like a baby. She's a perfect lullaby 😊
"May it be" and "Only time" are also great songs from her
The best description I've ever heard about Enyas music is that its silence coloured in. It makes more sense every time I think about it.
Congrats on the 4K! Keep those hits comin!! We so appreciate you...:)
