You are right about trying things that you would normally not have ordered. Life's mundane enough as it is, a few sprinkles of culinary surprises can really liven things up! My mum's from Vietnam too so I can definitely feel your deep nostalgia for that childhood Vietnamese taste :)
@@Celesteconnects If you haven't already - Gahn (a few blocks east) is also worth trying for appetizer/ street food (and it has a nice atmosphere); and Haiphong (a few blocks west), which I think is my favourite Vietnamese in the area. I'm waiting to try out Mui Ngo "Singaporean Vietnamese fusion", just near Tuan and Thuy, dragging along a Singaporean friend to help assess... but last Friday when we tried, it was 90 minutes wait if you didn't have a reservation!
