Varanasi, one of the oldest living cities in the world, is a major spiritual destination in India. Here are some of the top tourist places to visit in Varanasi:
    1. *Kashi Vishwanath Temple*
Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this is one of the most famous and revered temples in Varanasi. It is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva and holds immense religious significance.
    2. *Dashashwamedh Ghat*
One of the most spectacular and lively ghats, it is best known for the evening **Ganga Aarti**. Watching the priests perform the ritual on the banks of the Ganges River is a spiritual and mesmerizing experience.
    3. *Assi Ghat*
Located at the confluence of the Ganga and Assi rivers, this ghat is less crowded and offers a peaceful environment. Morning yoga sessions and Ganga Aarti at this ghat are also quite famous.
    4. *Sarnath*
Just a short drive from Varanasi, Sarnath is an important Buddhist pilgrimage site where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon after attaining enlightenment. Notable places in Sarnath include **Dhamek Stupa**, **Chaukhandi Stupa**, and **Sarnath Museum**.
    5. *Manikarnika Ghat*
Known as one of the holiest cremation grounds for Hindus, it’s believed that souls who are cremated here attain moksha (liberation from the cycle of life and death).
    6. *Banaras Hindu University (BHU)*
Established in 1916, BHU is one of the largest residential universities in Asia. The campus houses the famous **Bharat Kala Bhavan**, a museum displaying a rich collection of paintings, sculptures, and artifacts.
    7. *Ramnagar Fort*
Located on the opposite side of the Ganges River, this 18th-century fort is the ancestral home of the Maharaja of Varanasi. The fort houses a museum displaying vintage cars, weaponry, and artifacts of the royal family.
    8. *Tulsi Manas Temple*
This temple, dedicated to Lord Rama, is built at the site where the poet Tulsidas is believed to have written the epic *Ramcharitmanas*. The walls of the temple are inscribed with verses from this scripture.
    9. *Durga Temple*
Also known as the "Monkey Temple" due to the large number of monkeys in the area, this temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga. It’s a prominent religious site in Varanasi.
    10. *Alamgir Mosque (Beni Madhav Ka Darera)*
This mosque is located on the banks of the Ganges River and offers stunning views of the ghats. It is a blend of Hindu and Mughal architectural styles.
    11. *New Vishwanath Temple (Birla Temple)*
Located within the BHU campus, this temple is a replica of the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and is known for its grand architecture.
    12. *Ganga River Cruise*
Taking a boat ride on the Ganges at sunrise or sunset offers a unique and serene perspective of the ghats and temples of Varanasi.
    13. *Nepali Temple*
A lesser-known temple built by the King of Nepal, this temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is an excellent example of Nepali architecture with intricate wooden carvings.
Each of these places adds to the spiritual, cultural, and historical richness of Varanasi, making it a must-visit destination for travelers seeking a blend of tradition and enlightenment.
