This verse really brings out a dilemma of sorts within, I'll try to put it in words for anyone else out there feeling the same way:
On one hand Tariq's verse goes so fucking hard that you don't even want to try anything musically creative ever again in your life. You know he's reached the apex of perfection in what he's done and anything after that is a futile attempt to create.
On the other hand everything from the rhyme scheme, the cadence, the choice of vocabulary, even Static's beat, etc are so inspiring that it makes me just want to create something, no matter how minor it is and if no one else ever gets to enjoy it.
Relatable here.

I recommend going through the whole catalogue of The Roots. They have the most consistent run in Hip Hop imo.
Standout albums being Illadelph Halflife, Things Fall Apart, Phrenology, Game Theory, Rising Down, How I Got Over and Undun.
In terms of Solo catalogue he has 2 EPs; Streams of Thought, Vol.1 and Vol.2. Both are solid.
He has one solo album titled 'Streams of Thought, Vol.3: Cane & Able' and even that's a fantastic project.

People in the rap community know who Black Thought is. When The Roots Crew perform live, no one wants to follow them. This verse is beautiful to the ears to listen to. Next time when you have a moment, close your eyes and focus on his voice and the words. It’s such an illuminating experience.
