Hey all! Here’s a note-for-note transcription of the studio version. My signal chain is listed in the description. Tabs, Backing Track (with & without vocals), Guitar Pro & Bass stems at www.patreon.com/NathanNavarro
Very difficult indeed. As a guitarrist that is self thought thru bass was really hard to play that section, but i recently did it. I feel like the harold meme
@NateNavarro Just came back to say thanks again! I've got that crazy fill smooth, up to speed, in the pocket and in the left hand brain thanks to you and a lot of playing it slowed down.
Great bass playing from thundercat AND you. People talk about the fill but for me bar 55 is so damn nasty. Like just feel the rhythm and come in at the very last part of the bar. Too good.
I picked up the bass in late January. I've just started this bass line tonight. Its so smooth sounding. (Not my playing mind!) I've managed to get the first part of it down from a note point of view. Just need to drill the accuracy now. My Fretting hand still isn't too strong (especially my pinky but I have the shape and note order in check!) Thanks for the tabs!
Ok…. Metal head here…bassist.. This little bite of MAC on NPR little desk concerts w/ Thundercat and a killer drummer…came on my YT feed… now….can’t get it outta my head!!! This little lesson w/ tab is strictly perfect with great bass tone! Sub’d*
started learning this a few days ago and suprisingly can play it through at 75% most times. Even the fill which at first i thought f*ck no way thats out of my skill level xd. Only played for a year so hopefully this shows i'm improving!
@NateNavarro Thank you for being "the guy" who posted this and for that you've certainly earned my subscription. I love bass lines that groove above all else but buried in the mix is that ONE FILL and now (of course) I need to know how to do that. I need to make that a part of my playing style. Broken down slow it's a simple line but those 16 notes are so damned cool sounding sped up.
@@NateNavarro Welcome! Side note, I just realized you play with Porcupine Tree. I've been a great admirer of them since "In Absentia" so that's 22 years? Wow.. Time flies. That album was stuck in my CD player for years and is still one of my favorite reference albums. I'm just sorry it took me this long to know who you are. You have such a great range as a bass player and it's very inspiring as I go through all of your videos.
Love your sound, I just switched to flats and I aspire to tone like this. Kind of nitpicky, but to my ears you missed a couple of the middle notes in Thundercat's fill, I hear (in scale degrees of E maj) 7-8-6-7-(5)-(3), where you play 7-8-6-7-(3)-(2) Sounds good the way you do it too, great video!
Nice job bro like always. Can u tell me how do you put all information about licens for song? Last information on your movie? Who have license who is autor? Thax and take care. 👍💪
Forgive my ignorance. What is that descending scale you're playing? In mean what type (major/pentatonic?) and in what key? I'm a lazy learner sorry I can't manage to get it myself
if anyone smarter than me knows better please correct me but its basically an optional note to add flavor. try the line without it and then with a quick hammer-on there and see the difference. you'll probably understand once you try it.

It’s a blast! I never thought I could play this , but I finally got it down even that nasty fill🔥!

@@kane6529 dude ive been grinding on that fill for a while; got it to 0.9 speed pretty clean; wish me luck for the final stretch!
@@jomalomal Duuude I never knew you could customize the speeds until I just read this! I saw the .25 increases, but now see the .05x
@@jomalomal good luck man you've got this 😎
That bass fill breaks my brain, back here again to try and learn it!!

@@snowlily5540 wondering the same.

How can some dislike this video? He worked this cover gave all the secrets away.
Don't worry they must have removed it as well as every other dislike on the channel
I appreciate the variety of songs you choose
1:42 - Awesome part.
I've been practicing that part for a while now, it's hard
Your bass tone is the best I’ve ever heard on UA-cam hands down

You are a fantastic bassist Nathan
dude check out thundercat's bass lines. even if you don't like hip-hop, he's a fantastic musician.
Such a solid riff! Nice one!
That fill at 0:48 is evoking a memory of another song for me and I just can't place it!
Edit. SHORT SKIRT LONG JACKET.
omg it does sound exactly like cake!
Such a beautiful cover. Thank you
Love this bass line! Thanks for the tabs, Nathan!

Top! Can you do one for: " You can't fake the funk" by Ida Nielsen? please :)
This is out of my skill range, I will be back 😂
This bassline sounds a lot like dean town from vulfpeck
hello guys, can one of you explain what's happening between C3 and F3 at the end of the eleventh measure ? not a bass player here ^^
It’s a hammer on from the note below it doesn’t really count as a beat
What's the pad between the pick-ups?
This reminds me a lot of another bass line... I think from the movie Friday or another 90s movie... Anyone know the song I'm thinking of?
Tmb en guitarra se puede?
What is the small 2 in between the A-4 and D-4 at 0:24
