Never gonna happen. Joe was hostile to Miscavige's father. Note how Joe keeps looking over to Jamie when he challenges or makes sly digs to Ron. The Rogan team was bought
@@Tehgoat Shit dude you really think so?? Wait you might be right the way Joe kept saying "I always thought Scientologists were really positive people" over and over and OVER again. Yeah. Damn. I think you ARE right.
Joe looks like he has a migraine the whole time. If he was already receiving emails from them, they may have sent their reps to his home or office to have a little "come to Jesus" talk with him after his flirty, nice interview with Leah R. Their power structure seems like a combination of the mafia (in their dealings with everyone on the outside), and the Chinese (in setting up their control grid.) However, even the mafia treats their biological families well. The guest was in the Marines, I don't get the impression that he thought Joe was being too hard or disrespectful. Joe had recently interviewed Leah R. So, he came across to me (most of the time) like he was looking for the details that Leah R. didn't provide him. But, when he kept looking at his staff and giggling, that part was rude. Also, trying to get the father to admit he did something wrong that made his son this way. They're in a cult for goodness sake, it was the cult that affected his son. Then, the son took advantage using the tools to gain ultimate power within this group.
Joe treated Ron like an old kook, he was just explaining the experience in as much detail as possible, as Joe rolled his eyes and made condescending remarks. Ron seemed completely forthcoming and genuine.
I really dislike how Joe talked and rolled his eyes at the old honest man. I loved his stories. Some times joe is just such a hard annoying unfeeling robot.
This was like watching a wholesome grandpa talk about his life with the grandson that doesn't really give a shit but that every now and then finds something interesting, lol.
Maybe you don’t know, the reason joe was pushing so much about it being Ron’s fault was because Ron was extremely abusive (physically) to his children. Rogan was physically abused as a child . He’s trying to suggest maybe Ron did something wrong that pushed David in this direction (I.e hitting him as a child)
@@aka626 Wrong. The Church of Scientology alleges that Ron was abusive. There is nothing on public record to support such allegations. You are lying. Why? Are you a member of the cult? I ask that question because it is a common practice among supporters of the cult to present propaganda as truth in order to discredit apostates. No such thing as fair gaming? Bullshit. You should be ashamed.
the bitey little ratbag of doom hey man, you just gotta look into it. Haha no but seriously your misinformed, I give 0 fucks about your rather comical opinion, and I’ll prompt you to google it. Like I did. Everything isn’t a conspiracy. Stop huffing cans behind your local grocery store and listening to edgy brah.
Sun& MoonSky I don’t understand why a legal Welfare check hasn’t been done to be able to physically see and talk to Shelly Miscavige.. and if she says shes scared, she should be escorted out. If anyone else gets a report of abuse, you get arrested, these people do it and get away with it. WTF is really going on. Expose Expose Expose.... Now!
If you ever have the opportunity to have a conversation with an intelligent, emotive elderly person, DO IT! Best stories, best story tellers. So much context and history and weight to what they have experienced.
The end of this interview is frustrating. I want to hear the guy speak, he has a lot of insight into how groups like this draw normal people into their schemes. Scientology will die, but other groups/cults will surface. People need to listen to men like Ron and learn from his mistakes.
Joe wtf man , re interview this man , hes 82 years old , cut him some slack , he escaped a cult at 76 years old after being in it 4 decades... why were you so hostile
Can anyone answer me why Joe Rogan was being such a rude sarcastic dick during this interview? It's like he was treating the whole interview like a joke. It was not very tasteful
@@norwegianiowan6922 it looks like he just finished doing heavy traning or hot yoga , he said that around this time he was over working out and was rushing interviews and/or not making podcasts with maximum effort , as you can see in his recent podcasts he has changed and are longer and more relaxed , still though i do not appreciate him having no remorse for this guy , literally anyone else would have been a better target for his hostile behavior , Ron didint deserve this
That's funny you said that I was just thinking that he might be a secret scientologists when he kept asking was there anything that could have been done differently
I thought I was the only one who felt like Joe was a bit cold toward Ron, at some point it felt like he (Joe) didn’t want him there. It kind of breaks my heart knowing what he had to go through and for Joe to treat the man like he did, especially because Ron is an old man who went through a difficult experience. I wonder what went wrong with the interview?
Ron wanted to talk without interruption and anytime Joe said anything Ron was a little blunt and rude to him. This created tension throughout the interview
What a lovely, lovely man. I was genuinely on the verge of tears listening to him talk about never meeting his grandchildren. I hope his children come to their senses! Joe was definitely a little off here interrupting him about Tom's films, didn't like that. Very interesting interview though, I'd love to hear more.
Damn dude I generally love your interview style but I’m going to have to agree with everyone here..that was tough to listen to. I was so interested in his stories and so badly wanted to hear him go more into depth but unfortunately he was cut off constantly. Please Joe have him on again.
I believe Ron is in a tough spot. Scientology calls it "disconnection", Jehovah's Witnesses call it "disfellowshipping". It's a hurtful policy and any group that does this is a cult. Period.
All religions are cults, people laugh at Scientology, but how is Christianity, Islam and the other bullshit not cults? They tell crazy magic fairy tales to sad lonely insecure people who can't handle nothing after death. And they all get donations from their followers... Punishment for not following the rules etc
Mormons call "deserters" apostates. Mormon apostates can't just quit They have to be excommunicated. Often not only formally excommunicated from that institution, but also often put out of communication with family.
Agreed. No other podcast joe has done has made me feel some type of way. Like yes the whole zenu shit is hilarious and insane but joe was laughing AT him not with him. Someone said “oh ron abused his kids”. Tbh, I’d love to know what the nature of the “abuse” actually is, considering that in 2020 discipline of any nature is being deemed “abuse”. Most importantly, Scientology and David would say just about anything at this point to discredit Ron. It’s a lot harder to discredit someone who is the father of the “leader” and had all sorts of insider info about david/the church.
I agree with you 100%! I would listen to a 6 hour podcast of Ron's stories. Even if they weren't all about scientology. I really enjoyed Ron. One hell of a man
One of the most interesting people he’s ever had on and joe just blows it. Joe can’t picture his life or any life outside his own family and friends. His questions are horrible in this one and he comes off so obnoxious.
So many things wrong with this interview: 1 Joe asks a question and then interrupts and asks something not related to the answer. 2. Extremely rude to Ron and practically trying to force him to admit that everything is his fault. 3. Joe pretending that he does not know the meaning of “indoctrination”. Seriously questioning the policies as if Ron is just making this up. Terrible and disrespectful interview.
At the 2:02:14 mark of JR's interview with Leah Remini, he literally talks about how he can understand how someone would be so messed up after being "indoctrinated" (exact word choice) for decades. And that interview happened before this one with Ron. JR was on some other ish this day, apparently.
@ Does a bear shit in the woods? Joe is usually great. But this time he was a cocky prick - needling a hurting father about his fatherhood - pouring salt in his wounds. Jumping in the middle of his sentences with barbs disguised as questions to needle and to throw him. We are really disappointed with Joe on this one.
Scientology needs to get shut down immediately. These "bases" need to be raided and these people freed and this guy david needs to be arrested and put away for the rest of his life. Tom Cruise should also rot in a federal penitentiary.
listening to this I've never wanted to get a baseball bat and absolutely fuck some people up so bad in my whole life. except for that cop that full auto'd that dad in the hotel. These POS's need to get shut the fuck down. how can this be allowed to happen?
@bearsemen And who exactly are you to do the exact fucking thing? If they are brainwashing ppl, falsely imprisoning ppl, illegally extorting their money, and pretty much stealing from the Federal Government by claiming a hobby as a religion, then they should be held responsible for it.
Jesus Joe, stop interrupting him!! Damn, everything I think hes going to say something that might blow me away, you ask a question or make a statement that threw him off.
Meh that father still believes some of the bullshit of scientology, offered little or no credible facts and showed no signs of remorse, this man doesn't seem like a good guy in any sense.
The ending made me feel really uncomfortable. Hell yeah Ron wrote that book for money. He just spent 42 plus years in a cult that robbed him of everything except his life basically. He had no savings, basically no real job experience in 42 years, social security is trash because he basically didn't pay it. The man went through an extremely traumatizing life where he basically wasted away for 42 years. His son his a full blown psychopath and that's not his fault. What his son does as an adult is no longer his fault as a father unless he raised his son like shit as a child which I don't believe he did. Give him a break. He deserves way more respect than what you showed him Joe. He is 83 years old and he is trying to raise awareness and save people from spending an entire lifetime in this shit show of a cult like he did. Fuck Joe! Come the fuck on bro you are better than this.
Couldn’t agree more. His son makes his own decisions as an adult. Also, He’s an older guy that wrote a book to help others. Joe asking Ron about writing it for money is stupid.
I don't believe Joe was trying to disrespect Ron. I believe Joe didn't take Ron in the same serious light as Ron was trying to portray himself and his view on scientology.Just speculating but I think maybe deep down Joe thinks leaving is much easier than Ron states it is.I have no idea, Just my take.
This is absolutely fascinating and heartbreaking. My heart weeps for him. Yeah he got David into Scientology but I don't think he ever saw this coming. I could never imagine having to treat my family this way. Scientology is a cult that MUST be stopped. Taking away their tax exemption is the first step. I want to read his book.
I kinda feel bad for Joe. He has no connection with his father who left him when he was 6. Joe talks about his early trust issues coming from that. As far as I don’t like his interview style here, I kinda feel bad for him.
The man created a monster. Ted bundy was such a well spoken charismatic man. Do you feel sad for him? Think about how Leah would feel if Joe was all hearts and flowers towards this man after coming on his show to talk about the horrible things in that cult, Ron included. You think she feels sad for him just because he's well spoken and charismatic? Sorry if i sound harsh but you have to understand where i am coming from. You shouldn't believe a person is good based on how well they speak or how charismatic they are. The actions of people makes them who they really are. Again sorry if i offended you in any way, that was not my intention.
@@LunalovaniaGaming Seems as if Leah feels she and Ron were both victims of Scientology. They both had to escape Scientology. He interviews her, and she herself seems to be all hearts and flowers, saying to Ron, "We're all part of the same team." ua-cam.com/video/PeoOtjl8KaI/v-deo.html
Joe Rogan keeps selling out... First Eddie now this guy.. I have lost respect for Rogan as well. He turned into a shill. Controlled opposition. I'm done with him. He probably got paid off from Scientology.
This is by far the most disrespectful Joe was ever to his guest. I still cringe it at years after. I think he was trying to avoid Scientology lawsuits.
On another note I hope Ron knows how much everyone else respects him and what he has been through. His story was heartbreaking but I really think he accomplished his goal of getting the truth out there. I'm so sorry that Joe choose such a bad time to turn into a close minded child but plz don't feel like this was a waste of time. Just scroll thro the comments and u will get a sense of how many ppl heard ur story...(lol idk why I started writing this as if Ron is going to suddenly decide to read a comment on an interview he did 2yrs ago)
That 81 year old man, who is playing a victim, lived a debauchrous lifestyle for many years till he fucked up and wasn't getting special treatment anymore. That's why he wants out. That's why he's going on the attack. That is a scientologist way of life! Ron is not a good person. Rogan is a very smart person who can read people easily, he knows Ron is full of shit and playing a victim.
You can sense his distress as he rushes through some parts as though he just wanted to get it out. I’m only about 4 mins in and I already feel empathy for what he has lived through...
Uncomfortable watching Joe totally disrespect this old gent from start to finish..very difficult to watch. Respect to the old Gent for keeping it together.
I dont know man, i dont really like scientology but Ron wasnt very clear and didnt answered joe directly on a lot of topic. Also he admitted that he punched his wife and his son and i think joe hate him for that
Really fell apart at the end there. Looking up "litter", joking about joining so you can get a medal, praising Tom Cruise movies. Come on, Ron is trying to save families.
Evan Strong True even saying ‘Edge of tomorrow was such a good film’ random. It’s a good film but nothing outstanding and not really interesting enough to chat about for 30 secs. Think weed is probably the answer.
"Walking through time and space, its forgivable, and respectable, to follow in your own footprints. Be forewarned, avoid times and places you would not want to suffer losses in." Best advice ever. My father told me, " its all up to you."
Ron handled Joe's interruptions really well. I'd be like, OK, will you let me finish or just feed your ego thinking you're too cool to be true? All the best, Ron.
@@leewalkercabot1199 of course he talks for 5 min, he's there to tell his story and that douchebag interrupts him constantly and steers away the conversation to stupid shit like litters, tom cruise films and other irrelevant shit
Wtf Joe! I feel for this old man. He's obviously heart broken about losing his family, and all Joe could do is act like a dick and tell em " don't you feel guilty" smh
MikeHonchoHisself why? Why should he treat this crazy old bastard nicely? He turned his family to a cult then started complaining about that cult when his son became more important then him. Lol this is all so lame
I mean, you make a point, but your name is eatmyass so I cant take it seriously, if you don't feel for this man you're fucked in the head, it's like transporting yourself into the future and seeing your worst nightmare happen , that you regret your entire life and also effected the lives of the people you brought into this world who will no longer be there for you because of some stupid decision you made years and years ago, that is fucked.
I have major asthma...i went thru terrible things as a kid. Shots..nights spent in steam showers..etc. What really helped me was when i learned to be calm about it. Thats what happened with David. It wasnt magical at all. Haha
Agreed although I’ve never suffered from asthma so im no expert it’s good to hear from someone with a similar experience like what David and his father went through. I feel bad for his dad trying to find something to help his son and getting poisoned by what this cult became. think many things have a psychosomatic factor. This reminds me of Rasputin he got power and influence simply because he became close to royal family because their son had if I remember correctly hemophilia or porphyria which is apparently passed down through a lot of royals because of the intermarriage and Rasputin knew how to calm the boy down and after his supposed ministrations the boy Andre ? I think his name was had periods of recovery and the parents were so grateful because they were so worried about their son and had tried everything else and nothing worked. Sad huh?
When my asthma started i was cool as a cucumber, even during attacks just stoicly enduring. And when they would go away i would lay down and sleep (it would come at night). After the first few attacks i knew it sucked but it didn't kill me so, the scare was mostly off. During the months it increased in frequency but i kept living normally, not even worrying about it much. After about 6 months it got to the point i had trouble for days, not full on attacks but close enough. Then i finally got it checked out seriously, was diagnosed and got meds. My point being; that it does always help to be calm. But that alone cannot prevent the attacks, sadly. On the flipside the meds have prevented it so far (3+ years in). It depends on the person, the cause and type of asthma no doubt.
I feel like Joe held a grudge against him from the start at 5:25 when Joe was joking around and Ron was being serious and said let me continue my story
Joe, you SUCKED in this one buddy, ima big fan but damn this was hard to watch toward the end. Respect your elders man! Bring Ron back with the knowledge you now have of Scientology and do this properly. Much love.
I know I’m really confused on how great he was on talking about this with Leah Remini, who i love! And she’s making money off outing Scientology and so is he👆 & I think joe didn’t like that?
Negative Ego did he know that before the interview though?? No matter how immoral Ron might be, Joe should be after exposing scientology in this interview, not constantly giggeling like a highschooler and interrupting the narrative of the person sitting on the info. This interview was badly done, technically, no question about it.
How was Joe disrespectful? Because he didn't believe every single word the guy said no matter what without question? If this made you cringe then you clearly missed the earlier interviews. I suggest you watch the first 100 interviews and then redo your opinion.
He was in the marine corps; he can take it. And you can't expect all that much respect when you go on a show shamelessly yacking about the foolish craziness you introduced your son to, which totally fucked him up. If I were Joe I would have been tempted on several occasions to simply ask him what the hell is wrong with him. So yeah...
@@billscannell93 my guy you're an idiot. Ron IS claiming responsibility for introducing his son to scientology... he is saying that scientology is a buncha bs especially when they start talk about aliens and hydrogen bombs and carrying people on spaceships from other planets... at NO POINT is Ron NOT acknowledging any of these things. At the same time, can he not be allowed to grieve for the loss of his son to a toxic cult? Grieve for the loss of relationships to his family and complain about the minor and major abuses the cult committed against him? Just cos somebody joined a cult for a variety of reasons including irrationality, past traumas, incentives the cult gives ya, doesnt mean that you can be a dick to them, after they've been sensible enough to quit a cult.
@@17utk There are lots of people in the world more deserving of sympathy and respect, including people born and raised in a cult who manage to escape it. If you go join something like that as an adult and then suffer for it, you did it to yourself, in my book. Just a little bit of research, just a moment of independent thinking and reflection, would have prevented the whole thing. Hopefully the proceeds from his book and the inevitable collapse of this nonsense will ease his grief. I honestly wish him and others like him all the best, but I have little patience for things like this.
Joe clearly went into this with a bias thinking Ron was a prick to write a book about his son, but Ron clearly wrote a book about how life in a cult tore apart his family. It wasn't a trash novel bashing his son for money and fame. It was a warning. And I don't understand how Joe was never able to comprehend that & warm-up, even slightly, as he maintained an even level of chilled rudeness, icy dismissiveness, and frigid egotistical mockery pretty much throughout an interview with a clearly heartbroken man who had to give-up everything to escape a cult. Can you imagine the bravery and strength in overcoming the cognitive dissonances of 42 years worth of brainwashing and facing losing your family at 75-years-old, with absolutely nothing but the cloths on your back and a few momentos, to be free? What a wasted opportunity, Joe. You had someone worthy of tremendous respect on your show, and you treated him like a petty nuisance...a boring obligation out for revenge... that maybe/might get you a few views from those Scientology haters. You even managed to sprinkle in a few real dickhead responses as if it's so impossible for you to understand what it's like to search for the deeper meaning in life, Mr. DMT, and have that search mocked by the mainstream. Many people go on similar journeys in their own way only to discover they were looking in the wrong place. And it takes a damn brave soul to face that truth. How sad you couldn't see that & respect it for what it was.
"Joe clearly went into this with a bias thinking Ron was a prick to write a book about his son". Okay, first off you are a fucking idiot thinking Joe had bias with Ron from the beginning. Where the fuck that come from?
You are have to understand Joe is comedian that is the first thing. Secondly he open minded enough to look at both side objectively non bias to have a fucking fair interview. Have some perspective kids or I guess you are too young for a “deep” conversation. Bunch of headline readers 👎
I hate to say it, but this guy had a genuinely enthralling story to tell, and Joe just seemed to derail the conversation at every turn. It's also the shortest video I've seen on the channel, and Joe looked like he couldn't wait to get out of there. Did I miss something?
Joe KNOWS the Scientology folks are watching. Which is why he is purposely being condescending and playing hardball and doing tons of leading dialogue (like suggesting they could change the no-contact w. family policy and how he could have messed up with his son)...... He wants to show them he will be impartial (maybe even misleading them to think he could be swayed to their side)---its very obvious he is trying to get an interview with them. He would be the best impartial interviewer. If they were to interview with anyone it should be him.
Joe you gotta try being a kind person. Especially to someone who is elderly and trying to tell a compelling story. You’ve gotta give respect to get respect man
Joe, wow. Why would conduct this interview like an interrogation on an 80 year old man? He isn't responsible for the choices his son has made in his adult life. His intentions 40+ years ago were good when looking for a foundation for his family. The fact that this organization has become so poisoned since then, is not the responsibility of this man. He probably has lived through a lot of shame and guilt in his own mind, you're not required to compound that.
Agreed man since joe never really let him talk like the other person who talked about Scientology. He is a man who can tell us for hours on end about everything he’s experienced and see and what he did in his life. It’s a really awesome dude I really want to hear this man’s story all of it since he’s such a interesting dude. Really wish joe was more respectful to him and I hope he brings him back on and let’s him tell his full life story
Joe was so disrespectful and condescending at times it was painful to watch. And when he insinuated that he wrote the book only to make a buck, I wanted to punch him. To his credit, Ron pushed through and very passionately made his point about the reasons behind the book.
It was bad. Plus the guy has no other money other than social security like he said multiple times. Who cares if the guy wanted to make some money. like fuck off Joe you make money off OTHER peoples stories.
But he's the leader of a "religion" that brainwashes people into paying them money to gain "rank" within it. If you have a mental issues they lock you up and leave you for dead.
I agree ☝️ he was really rude and definitely condescending at times. You could see Ron being uncomfortable with his behaviour at times, but he handled it with class. Maybe all that Scientologist communication training was effective 🤷♀️😊
It’s called good journalism. Pushing different narratives so the full picture is seen. Maybe you’ve seen to many modern day softball cnn interviews. Joe instead covered all bases not just propping up his guest. That’s why joe is the best
This interview could have gone far better had Joe any understanding of what cults are capable of. He's talking to Ron like he was in a nefarious chess club.
Yeah, one of the few times I've seen Joe be a little condescending to his interviewees. Most of the time he does a great job trying to get their perspective. This time he seems to lack some respect for Ron.
@@MB-dg3lr I think he actually physically dislikes this man. Like he can not comprehend how he got his son in this cult, bc he would never do that to his child or children if he has. I think he feels Like this guy is a bad dude
Yeah I am almost on Joe side all the time. Yet he is being condescending to this guy for his belief. However, Joe is just as obsessive as this guy and scientology but with weed.
Why would David's psychosis be Ron's fault? David is a sociopath and that isn't his father's fault, so why should Ron feel any guilt for how his son turned out?
Marty.R Woodcock becasue Joe was abused by his dad and he blames his dad for alot of shit that happened in his life, so he thinks that Ron should feel guilty for the way his son turned out
LOL. In a timespan of 30+ years, Ronnie boy cannot think of things he would have done differently. Dad of the year, without a doubt. My guess is Ron and David have more in common then Ron likes, the apple doesn't fall far from the sociopath's tree. Like Joe said in another podcast: this wasn't a conversation, this was an interview. To me: it felt like a book report, Ron had no part in any of this, evil was all around him but Ron is just there in the wrong time at the wrong place, every time. Sure guy.
This guy had 42 years of his life stolen from him and his family. One of the saddest things that could have ever happened to someone. And Joe makes jokes about it. He really needs some introspection to see what he would do if he was in that situation. Empathy.
@OzarkoBlam Most people choose to join. Leaving is a different story. If you don't understand what a cult is, you should research it before your useless opinion leaves your mouth. Simple concept, you join, you don't leave.
Joe is being such a douche bag in this interview, especially towards the end. So hard to watch.. I’m glad Ron finally says “Joe your dreaming” at some point.

Yes I think the church got ahold of Joe and threatened him and his family after his Leah interview and that is why he is treating Ron badly in this interview.
I’m pretty much a Rogan fan. I am happy to see a consensus here of people who think that Joe definitely overstepped here. His attempts at humor were cheesy and amateurish and he did himself no favors. Disrespecting this guy (who took it all very gracefully) was enough to turn me the other way. So, yes...I say reinterview him and give him the respect he deserves...also acknowledge your shit...
I agree 100%. Anyone who has spent 15 minutes googling how a cult mentality works will understand how a rational guy like Ron gets caught up in it. Instead of acknowledging that and asking some intriguing questions about it he just poked fun at scientology, Tom Cruise, David Miscavige, and then accused this guy of trying to make a buck off a book.
JR you were very rude to this guy. So I just started binge watching this podcast. Probably watched about 10 and I have to say I felt you were a little disrespectful to this old timer and what he has been through
Ron is such a good man. I appreciate how passionate in making humankind better. He seems down to earth but also very insightful. I'm sorry this happened to him.
Holy crap, this interview started to get really cringy. Constantly interrupted him and asked super insensitive questions. "Do you feel like you're at fault for how your son turned out?" and then kept pressing him on it like crazy. "Well surely you feel there's something you could have done/said." Wouldn't stop guilt tripping him. Then later he asks, "did you write this book just to make money? It's the only reason I would write a book." Dude, work on your social skills. It was so cringey. Felt so bad for Ron who was pouring his heart out.
Completely agree!! While they might be valid questions. Joe handled himself poorly considering the nature of the questions he was asking at that point. He was impatient and insensitive. This could have been handled so much better. I felt awful for Ron at this point as well.
@@productofterror I NEVER liked Joe Rogan. There was just something about him, but I can't pinpoint it. When he ran that show where everyone had to eat bugs, etc., I could not warm up to him. I just wish Joe would let the guy finish a story - dude if you have a pertinent question, write it down then after the story, THEN ask your question...
naa, Ron is boring. insular. zero introspection. and full of long, ''let me tell ya stories'' or ''so here's what happened;'' blah blah. he's the wrong guest for a show like this which leans toward people capable of abstract discussion
Tony Walton sorry I COMPLETELY disagree. this guy is full of interesting stories and facts about a way of life that most of us dont understand & never will.
It took over an hour to finally spit out how he escaped. You have to remember a lot of people are fans of Joe’s that listen to the podcast daily and are use to a certain format. Obviously the people who know who Ron is are going to listen to this entire interview because they are interested about his story but for the other half of the people who don’t really know/care, are they actually going to stay and listen to an old guy ramble on. If you really want his story in detail and uninterrupted you can always just buy his book and read it or maybe it’s on Audible and someone can read it to you. From what we were told several times Ron could really use the money.
@@tonywalton1052 , I'm in agreement. This is the wrong forum for Miscavage. He has a narrative to get out and doesn't want the open back and forth chatting that usually happens. I don't consider what Joe does to be interviewing. He has conversations with his opinions being expressed. The way Miscavige is talking, it only allows interruption with disarming questions.
I love the JRE. But his behavior in this interview was ridiculous. Ron was here to speak in detail about his experience and he was attempting to do so in detail. Joe kept interrupting him and diverting the topic (you can see Ron was holding his frustration in parts). Joe - lay off the cones when you're having someone of this importance being interviewed. This could have been much much better.
Guy left because he wasn't happy about his job, classic old lion. I want more respect, I want more respect. Now I want attention. Like joe says Devils advocate. Also this guy wanted to be on the show, he wasn't invited. Seeking the limelight.
Comments here are spot on. This is the first of these podcasts I’ve had to stop listening to because of the obvious disrespect to the guest. Started minute one and never let up.
You and everyone else accusing joe of being hostile are completely off base - interviewers have to be neuteral and ask for clarification on points often, it doesnt mean hes being hostile hes just asking questions he thinks listeners will be asking
I joined Scientology in the early sixties, then left after only one year. This man's explanations of the group is probably the most BALANCED I've ever seen, anywhere. Scientology DOES have many good points, but the cultish, high sales pressure tactics they employ are completely due to LRH's pathology, without question or doubt.
quite sad to see joe just didnt take this seriously, rons face at the end says it all, and when he asks how long were we on. im a huge fan of joe and love his podcasts but he let everyone down with this one
@@stt.9433 Okay but if anything that gives credence to what Ron is saying. If you really want to discount someone making them a martyr is a very counter productive way to do it. Just sit back and let them talk themselves into a hole. Instead one look at _every_ top comment shows you Joe being flippant, even if you think he was right to do so, has made Ron the _victim._
St T. Totally agree. He refused to take any sort of responsibility either. I saw what Joe was trying to get him to examine but the guy was just incapable of self criticism. I’m not saying that Scientology isn’t fucked up, it definitely is, and this guy has definitely seen some bad stuff. He knows it all started with his own stupidity but won’t accept it.
I like Joe a lot (usually) but IDK something about the vibe of this interview was off - I don't know if Joe was high or if he was just in a "fuck it" mood, but I felt like he was really kinda disrespectful to Ron (ESPECIALLY pulling an aggressive late night talk show host move and going after Ron repeatedly on if he felt guilty/responsible for David being in power and the "what would you do different" onslaught - Really Joe?! WTF dude, yeah the guy has made some mistakes, what are you wanting him to do cry or jump on the desk in anger? RUDE AS FUCK, broski) Feel like Ron is a sincere and down to earth kinda guy, and a good intentional one at that, respect and condolences to him (good stories BTW too) - Would very much like to see Ron and Leah team up to squash this parasite
Yeah really douchey behavior from Joe, and a bizarre sort of smugness and goofiness that was totally unwarranted given the subject matter and the fact that Ron was being very straightforward and honest. The more I watch Rogan the more I think a lot of the good aspects of his character are just an act, and deep down he's really like this all the time. It's disappointing.
As a dad, I can see why Joe got a little put off by his lackadaisical attitude towards his son's welfare. Instead of treating his son's asthma he had someone tell him it was all in his head, he meh'd when his son wanted to leave school to go work on a boat with a creepy old man. That's some fucked up parenting, and he should feel guilty imo.
Stephen Schaal It wasn't like the man just randomly walked in to the studio. Joe invited him as a guest to tell a story. I really don't believe he got triggered by that. He's more in control of his emotions than that. But Joe can be weird at times. He's super cool 99,9% of the time but it happens that he loses it a bit and often I don't get why. Don't know what happened, maybe he finally tried coke (at times he actually was a bit of a coke asshole), maybe he had a bad day. Maybe he knows something about the man that we don't.
There’s a lot of response here attacking Joe that’s from the Scientology group, we should all focus on the fact that Scientology is a fraud and a science fiction :)
Joe was an asshole. I paused around 1:10:00 because I couldn't listen to his inconsiderate questions. I'll continue listening though for Ron Miscavige. I hope he reads the comment section and sees how people feel about the way he treated the guest.
Stephanie R. Unfortunately, Joe always says he stops listening or reading when anything negative is said about him so I doubt any of these comments will get through.
and u believe him brian? ... the age of internet and internet comments some dude says he may read a few but will stop if there's bad stuff .... and... you ... believe that up front no questions asked? .... :p (u may not up front cuz he talks more about it but... astill.. kinda.. :v )
Joe has said many times that he takes negative criticism to heart when its warranted and tries to learn from it. However, he did say he doesn't read youtube comments. Hope someone gives him some direct feedback about this one though, felt like it was someone else doing the interview. Felt bad for the old man.
counter proposal: if joe had us believe he bothered read the comments... what then?... (Im rherotic fancy bullshitting that I think it'd turn to hell round here -- more than already does :P )
I'm so disappointed that Joe turned this from an interview into a bashing of this sweet man. Did the cult of Scientology get to you after you interviewed Leah? The difference between the respect in her interview and Ron's interview is crazy. I'm so glad that people like Leah, Mike, and Ron have been coming out and continuing to come out and speak about how horrible Scientology is. Keep speaking out you're making a difference!
I read this gentleman's book. It's really sad that he wasted his life in the cult. Joe was so disrespectful to him, especially towards the end of the podcast.
Lets be real here, David Miscavige was seduced by the power and money. To say you don't care if a family member lives or dies is a serious thing. David CHOSE power and money over his own family. This makes him a failure as a human being.
Felt that way from the very beginning, and although I appreciate and like Joe, I got very frustrated when he kept pressing Ron if he felt he maybe could have done something different with David to prevent his warped power rise and control. Of course he did, and I could see it probably agonized over it during the time before he left. Ron is a brilliant man, and a realist. I wanted to reach through the airwaves and give this man a granddaughterly hug. Know that Joe was trying to dig deep, but he seemed to be pushing a bit hard, but it wasn't a deal breaker, just brought out a compassion spot in my heart. I cannot believe that this organization is still operating with a tax free status. Will be contacting my Senator on this, and hope everyone else does as well. Also please look at the International Church of Christ which is in no way connected to the United Church of Christ which probably has more members than Scientology. Another cult which supports separation from families. Mothers of members are often told their mothers are simply referred to as earthly mothers as opposed to spiritual mothers which creates a chasm in many familis. Skip McKean is the founder. Google him.
Joe must not be familiar with "power" in a historical sense and what it might be like to rule over the beliefs of people. It's enticing and you definitely don't have to blame parenting, that just removes all responsibility from david and implies he couldn't live his own life cause daddy was mean.
You assume all families are worth prioritizing over power and money--all aren't. That said, you'd think, since Mscavige's father was the one who got him into the cult, DM would've shown some preferential consideration. It's all very dysfunctional, on multiple levels.
Joe is busting his balls. He keeps looking at Jamie every time he cracks a joke for approval. Jamie if you laughed your a sucker. Well then again he has to laugh since Joe writes the checks. 😂
Yea this podcast really bothers me I’ve watched for years but I finally seen this episode and it honestly made me realize I kinda put joe on a pedestal and thought he couldn’t do wrong when it came to his podcast but this interview was extremely hard to watch due to his blatant disrespect. Maybe he was playing devil’s advocate, but there’s a line. Joe crossed it with this man and owes him another interview and an apology.
Really? This was the one? There have been so many others where he just goes ape shit. He is a *short* tempered man who thinks he is a giant intellectually.

This is one of the first times Ive ever been mad at joe, shut up and let the men talk
Same I live his podcast but he was beyond rude, annoying and unprofessional
Joe, whats up with you on this interview? You seem rude and disrespectful.
Its the amphetamines
Joe is a amater radio host, only possible for idiots in USA like that Sam&Norton

Joe... Gotta have him back. The masses are asking for it for your benefit.. You gotta make this right.
Agreed. I am a big fan of many other Rogan interviews, but seeing the way that he treated this guy was unsettling.
Bullshit.
I DID NOT UNDERSTAND WHY HE WAS RUDE
I don’t understand why no one gets that Ron raised David as a Scientologist and has a lot of responsibility for how they turned out.
Don't think Joe even slightly realizes how difficult it is to leave a cult like this even after being convinced one should leave
No, he does not.
Period.
The definition of a cult is a group of people who have extreme admiration for a higher power, every theistic religion is a cult.
Don’t forget “excommunication” from Catholics, they’re all cults 🤷🏻♀️
It proves it’s a cult, for me. A religious person shows forgiveness!!

FESERFACE hey man you just gotta look into it ok?
I agree. I almost turned it off.
@@mermaidsupreme3873 I did some research and i really don't know if it's true considering that every bit of information is coming from two sites (www.ronmiscavigebook.com and www.leahreminiaftermath.com) wich are owned by scientology (© 2020 Church of Scientology International. on the footer) and every news article i checked refers to the first of the two sites. Thought i have to say on those sites they have some evidence that seem pretty solid but all in all to me it seems just an elaborate fabrication just for the sake of discrediting Ron
Joe was very impatient on this one. I'd really like to hear Ron's stories.
I agree with you 100%! I would listen to a 6 hour podcast of Ron's stories. Even if they weren't all about scientology. I really enjoyed Ron. One hell of a man

I agree, I think Joe probably has ingested a few of those pot laced gummy bears.
Joe did not like the guy. I can understand
So many things wrong with this interview:
1 Joe asks a question and then interrupts and asks something not related to the answer.
2. Extremely rude to Ron and practically trying to force him to admit that everything is his fault.
3. Joe pretending that he does not know the meaning of “indoctrination”. Seriously questioning the policies as if Ron is just making this up.

I have major asthma...i went thru terrible things as a kid. Shots..nights spent in steam showers..etc. What really helped me was when i learned to be calm about it. Thats what happened with David. It wasnt magical at all. Haha
Same.
Sad huh?
Bravo
I think that's what he means

Agreed. Didn't enjoy the moments of Joe's hardness/ callousness with the good man. Soften the fk up, Joe.

He probably has lived through a lot of shame and guilt in his own mind, you're not required to compound that.

Phoenix Personal Training take him seriously? You’re an idiot.
RD Patterson project much?
I'm so disappointed that Joe turned this from an interview into a bashing of this sweet man. Did the cult of Scientology get to you after you interviewed Leah? The difference between the respect in her interview and Ron's interview is crazy. I'm so glad that people like Leah, Mike, and Ron have been coming out and continuing to come out and speak about how horrible Scientology is. Keep speaking out you're making a difference!
I read this gentleman's book. It's really sad that he wasted his life in the cult. Joe was so disrespectful to him, especially towards the end of the podcast.
smichalpi I'm making an assumption here but I think it might have to do with his father not being present in his life.
could be!
Galaxy Ssix daddy issues??
Is this a bot thing? I have no idea what you're talking about.
smichalpi I agree Joe couldve done better man 🙄🙄
Lets be real here, David Miscavige was seduced by the power and money. To say you don't care if a family member lives or dies is a serious thing. David CHOSE power and money over his own family. This makes him a failure as a human being.
Stefan doesn't agree with you
Felt that way from the very beginning, and although I appreciate and like Joe, I got very frustrated when he kept pressing Ron if he felt he maybe could have done something different with David to prevent his warped power rise and control. Google him.
Laurie Van Den Beldt it cause your a women stop thinking emotionally
