Well, no. The alien was pretty clear, although, maybe irl I might not believe it and think it's a prank and say "yeah, sure buddy, you're an alien and I'm Captain Kirk"
Loved the book series. This is an excellent adaptation. In the books the characters are just witnesses for the reader to experience the story through with no real emotional connection. The show brings the characters to the center of the story and adds tons of emotional connection
RIP Manuel Rey Diaz, the best wallfacer. Other than that, super good adaptation, after my second reading of the books series I tend to skip some parts, because they are boring, cliche characters, paper thin characters, others that only exist for 2 pages; the first book reads like a murder mistery but it only works the first time you read it. I anticipate Raj will be a really badass character if this goes where I think it will
Got the first and second riddle, lol -- the third one was a bit of a stretch. Fun time -- and thanks for breaking down the season in hopefully two videos!
I'm much more with Auggie, because she doesn't just blindly follow the fascist military/secret-service guys but has at least a little something resembling a moral compass. (It becomes more obvious in the later episodes tho)
Season 1 has all characters from Book 1, 2 and 3 and some concurrent storylines happening (from all 3 books) so Book 1 only readers are going to be spoiled by Book 2 and Book 3 developments. So just be aware when watching and reviewing. D&D and Woo didn't add any new characters without roots from all 3 books. San-Ti (三体) name of first book in Chinese original and it literally means "Three Body" - so for anybody who is upset the aliens are not called Trisolarans... don't be. The show just uses the more faithful phonetic pronunciation. You cannot get any more faithful than that.
The books are hardcore Sci-Fi novels, based on real science theory (and of cos a lot of psuedo-science bullshit). You need to be at least a half-nerd to fully understand stuff like 3 -body problem, human computer, fermi--paradox, etc. Another hard part is, book 1 have lot of cultural revolution stuffs, you won't understand if you're young or if you're not Chinese. The chinese TV series hide lot of the cultural revolution stuffs b'cos of censorship, and the Netflex series is just too rush and put too much things into 8 episodes.
they're better indeed. I can't say book2 or 3 which is better tho. I don't like how the book 3 end. Saul's story is part of book 2; Will's story is part of book 3.@@DoublePMedia
I have to start with triple O. When I saw that my fave podcast had a new video I said omg omg omg! So thrilled you guys are back. Love the show and couldn't help but binge it all over 3 days. I agree with Catfish about the reason why I'd contact the aliens. Eps 1 to 4 I give 9.5 double S, splendid sci-fi. Can't wait to see you guys for part 2 🙂
The answer is no. I 100% would not reply back to that message. And I wouldn't share it with anyone else either in case some other idiot didn't take it seriously and tried to reply to it.
Crazy seeing those voices coming out of actual humans after following you guys’ podcasts for like a decade. Looking forward to hearing (and seeing) y’all break it down
Yay, not a great sci fi fan, but I heard the source material does not deal with women´s issues or race, and is complete, so the chances of DnD to screw this up are not that high!
We'll talk about this on next pod... the gist: Gender Issues and Race are not easy in fiction. Some people attack the monologue in Barbie (Gender Issues) and some people attack Killer of the Flower Moon on how it focused on white characters (Race). When you say D&D have trouble with those subjects... imo almost everyone does.
@@DoublePMedia not accomplishing a subtle discussion of said issues is one thing...for example: to have a woman thank her abusers for their abuse and to obliterate men of colour offscreen after they fullfilled their purpose is another.😁 so I say it isgood for them they kind of learned their lesson.
Mistakenly we stopped the recording but I wish we'd kept recording because at the very end, we both said "Thank goodness, we've recorded this podcast so we can watch the next episode."

Ouch - 1 out of 3 - (yes I am a child) - Best GoT Cameo is definitely Mark Gatiss - Favorite character is Auggie - Will runs a very close 2nd - and finally my motivation for inviting the San Ti to come - trying to keep up with all of the shows in June, 2024!
Its not that they cant lie - its that its a new idea to them. They cant conceal their thoughts from each other, communication is instant and involuntary among the species. They can and do lie, once they are introduced to the concept. They’re not quite a hivemind either - some individual San-ti have dissenting attitudes.
@@RedbarParadise-ni4cq It feels like they were already lying, at least by omission, which based on their responses to Adams, they could consider a lie. Like, for example, Hey, we are coming to wipe you out. You could say that they weren't going to do that before they found out we were liars, except for the VERY big warning that the first responder to Ye gave her. So they are lying liars that used that as an excuse.
Let us know (serious or silly) why you’d answer the ‘Do Not Answer’ message? Also your thoughts on the first 4 episodes
Well, no. The alien was pretty clear, although, maybe irl I might not believe it and think it's a prank and say "yeah, sure buddy, you're an alien and I'm Captain Kirk"
I have a question. How does the Alien that responded “Do not respond” know that Earth was more habitable and humans were inferior?
@@gbounmiadejuwon1629 Great question. Maybe any species dumb enough to respond is inferior 😀

I absolutely loved it and thought the adaptation changes were nearly all improvements.

She keeps calling him a fascist but the alien collaborators are murderous zealots, they had it coming. They're killers and traitors
"would you answer?"
Me: FUCK. NO.
LOL, Hell No :)
The sad thing is they coming regardless they just wanted to shut you up

When someone tells you their alien race is a on a universe-wide murder tour and, if you get their attention, you'll be next, believe them. (so, no)
That's 100% the correct answer - but what if you had a bad day :)
@@DoublePMediaThat's some bad day. The worst in history.

No, but I would not tell the commies either and instead inform the proper countries (NATO).
If the San-Ti want Alabama, they can have it
Jeff Foxworthy's "You might be a SanTi" routine is killing in Mobile

Very good, do not answer / do not trust your coworkers :)

I would totally tell them to come save the Siamese cats from humanity
The books were great - the show is 'very good'
24:30 and then there’s Will; who like
Princess Kate, has cancer…
I don’t know why that made me laugh.

NO, you have to be in an intensely nihilistic place to do that. I can sympathize with why she did it knowing her backstory though.
