If the umps had called the 50 yesterday, people would have been whining "It's the last minute, just let the game goooooo". No, North Melbourne robbed themselves of a big and important uplifting victory over the reigning premier. 54 points they were in front. And losing the match after being infront by that much and letting Collingwood get back in the contest is unacceptable.
There was a bunch of other questionable umpiring calls that got them back into the game. The last one was just the most egregious. Worst thing was everyone could see it was going to happen.
North lost the match because 1. They ran out of puff. 2. Macrae pulled some decent moves st HT such as Howe forward and McCreery to qualm LDU who was running riot. 3. Clarko going too early with the Phillips sub. He just had a 6 min break and could have gone for another 5 mins before being pulled out. 4. A 14-2 free count to the Pies in the 2nd Half + missing all the throws, reviews and 50M penalty. Worst umpiring I have ever seen. 5. Fisher shat his pants with that kick out and the game winner that a decent forward would have nailed.
Everybody going on about the free kick. He still has to kick it and the Pies would have responded anyway, they do what they have to to win IMO. In reality the Roos played exceptional footy kicking the highest score against the Pies in a long time. The Pies haters will always whinge about something but they play a good brand and this game was considered one of the best in a while. Everybody is a winner IMO
About time we were paid back by the umpires, Nick getting pushed after kicking to Elliott in the dying seconds against Essendon, no downfield free kick paid, the rubbish free kick against Sullivan in the Freo game, the uncalled out of bounds goal by Higgins against St Kilda in the last quarter that changed the momentum of the game. All these ridiculous decisions/non-decisions cost us another 8 points on the ladder, about time we had the umpiring go our way. ⚫️⚪️⚫️⚪️⚫️⚪️
So lets just make this simple , Your collingwood players and you have an absolute umpire free roll in doing what you want when its a close game so they can get ahead
Yeah there were about 6 free kicks I saw not given in that last few minutes or so.Your right that Collingwood could do what they want in the end there and no get penalised. Bizarre !
Looks like the only thing the Eagles are good at this year is playing other sides into form. Essendon crushed it in the month after playing the Eagles as well.
The umpires are really ruining the game with thier continuous errors I know they can't catch everything but they're missing some easy decisions which are unfortunately sometimes deciding the entire match, then there's the whole review system that's probably the biggest joke checking some things and not others incredible double standard we either use it properly or not at all.
Did you catch the end of the Fremantle game? Without the free against Sullivan for not giving the ball back directly to umpire they wouldn't have gotten back and drawn. In 2018 there was one that cost us a grand final. It happens to everyone. The north one 100% should have been 50 I don't disagree, but there were lots of dubious calls that benefited North directly on the scoreboard too, that aren't being discussed here just because it wasn't the end of the game. I also won't argue the pies do well with decisions at the end of close games the last few years, but it's largely to do with them being by far the most disciplined. They just don't give away silly free kicks when other teams tend to do in those moments. At least to some degree, you make your own luck.
Because he was waiting for the ups to call it a mark. It was never a play on . That's what caused him to be in two minds. That was a howler from the umpires.

Why is it ok when Collingwood touches the ball but when Collingwood goes for goals and north say they touch it it’s not ok the media is biased just go away
It’s deadly obvious the AFL are intending to tighten these games up. Close games more viewers more money. Same for comebacks. If you can’t see this you are delusional.

This just sums up the hate for Collingwood. People chose to focus on the smallest calls and point the finger and blame the umpires for a 50/50 call in the heat of the moment. Collingwood haters just decide to what ever the situation is, no matter the context of the entire match, to find something to get angry against Collingwood. The facts are that North played an unbelievable and had a huge lead but decided to not play with the same level of intensity in the second half. Punters cannot solely blame the umpires for North's loss. There was many missed calls for both sides and this happens in every single AFL game.
The umpires gave North 2 goals with dubious free kicks, we got two back. Let's call it even and move on. The amount of throws between the North players also went unnoticed. Melbourne is great at it and never get pinged. The umpiring is very poor and needs an overhaul and the example was where umpires away from the contests awarding free kicks. And lately some umpires like getting back at players and punishing them for not giving them the ball. Yes, the Freo game where Sidey did not hear the umpire to give the ball back and he penalises the team in front of goal as retribution. How was it time wasting per the rules when the clock had stopped and the umpire did not blow time on? Yet the AFL ticked it off. In the final analysis, we all have to accept the good with the bad, as there is no alternatives at this stage. The game is too fast compared to bygone eras and there is no quick solution.
Well the umpire was simply enforcing the rule. If he had not paid the fee, then the opposition would have every right to complain as the umpire is not umpiring by the rules. You cannot have it both ways.
Yeah I know seems like more of a skill issue to me and they were to busy celebrating their win before the game had finished with a half still to go so I think they have nobody else to blame for their loss but themselves and I'm not saying that just because I'm a Collingwood fan I expected the roos to win it but one thing I will say is the kangaroos got some pretty questionable frees too but they don't talk about that

This segment shows why umpires have it tough. You can be 100% certain that if they'd called it, they'd be saying, "It looked like he played on, you can't call a 50 for that! The umpires cost Collingwood the game!"
Stop this relentless obsession with always blaming the umpires. You spent more on one umpiring decision than the 119 minutes gameplay preceding it.
100%. I swear the obsession with umpire decisions gets worse and worse every year. Like EVERY game people complain about the umps. If the umps had called the 50 yesterday, people would have been whining "It's the last minute, just let the game goooooo". But when they actually let the game go, people still call for the umpire's head on a stick. The poor blokes can't catch a break!

Absolutely spewing, would have been a great confidence booster for North to take out the pies, really wanted to see North win. (Carlton supporter here)
The highlight was watching the ump get cleaned up in the saints game
No, North Melbourne robbed themselves of a big and important uplifting victory over the reigning premier. 54 points they were in front. And losing the match after being infront by that much and letting Collingwood get back in the contest is unacceptable.
There was a bunch of other questionable umpiring calls that got them back into the game. The last one was just the most egregious.
Worst thing was everyone could see it was going to happen.
🧂🧂🧂
Unfortunate but this tends to happen to bottom teams. Where top teams know how to win this type of game.
North lost the match because
It looked to me like the 2 Pie players had run over the mark BEFORE the ump blew the whistle. Therefore no 50.
Thats exactly wheat happened, you are the only observant one here. No agenda, just facts.
Bizarre !
Nothing about the roos ruck man flopping over the fence that resulted in an actual goal.... Don't 2 clangers cancel each other out?
If North can play like that every week, they will make the eight very soon.
Win or lose, this needs to be the standard on which they build
Looks like the only thing the Eagles are good at this year is playing other sides into form. Essendon crushed it in the month after playing the Eagles as well.
The umpires are really ruining the game with thier continuous errors I know they can't catch everything but they're missing some easy decisions which are unfortunately sometimes deciding the entire match, then there's the whole review system that's probably the biggest joke checking some things and not others incredible double standard we either use it properly or not at all.
Collingwood certainly seem to get on the good side of umpires at the end of close games. But I’m happy to be proven wrong. I doubt I will be though
@@DavinJones81 Also the Draw against the bombers Daicos knocked over after kicking it to Elliot in the last play, should have been downfield.
Am I the only one seeing Bailey Scott take 5 steps off his line and only slow down when he realised he's about to get tackled?
Because he was waiting for the ups to call it a mark. It was never a play on . That's what caused him to be in two minds. That was a howler from the umpires.

The good teams own the ball when they get a 5 goal lead, North just played themselves into the ground. That third quarter was played wrong. It looked like basket ball, both teams had a shoot out when North should have closed the game down.
I'm Adelaide crows supporters and I think that Collingwood could not win that game against North Melbourne kangaroo's by one point and I think Collingwood got it support from the afl umpires winning all those close games
The Roos were handed three goals early, so not sure how one decision the other way could have robbed them.
Wasn't just one decision though.
The smothered kick (if that is what you're referring to) should not have been paid as a goal, but North were still up by about 7 or 8 goals at that point. Barely excuses North throwing that game.
Bottom line clarko got outcoached and couldn't stop Collingwood attacking FULL tilt in the 2nd half. 😊

That's about as obvious 50m penalty as you will ever see.
Did Collingwood actually win? Did North not make any errors.?
they took risks all right , by not playing the game by the rules and the umpires let them get away with it. fake handballs, running over the mark, not reviewing potentially touched ball, what a shambles, too many umpires these days.
Roos were robbed the last 6 goals that collingwood kicked 😂😂😂
Roos got a goal from the worst free kick this century (bending over the fence) BTW
Not to mention 3 times north players ran through the mark, even the commentators noticed it. I reckon the worse call of the day was the phillips sub. north had a 54 point lead and coach and players blew it. Shoe on the other foot and pies get rolled after being 54 points ahead the league is not highlighting this type of thing. Storyline would be that pies bottled it. Thats what north did yesterday...

its not the number of umpires that is an issue, its because the umpires are human. Decisions need to be made my AI if we want a fair competition. The rules have been breached or not, there is no room for intepretation. whether you are the home team or not, whether you are a popular team or player or not, whether the margin is 1 point or 100, whether its the beginning or the end the rules are meant to be the same.

The umps seem to have really inserted their influence into game outcomes this year , and yet again a game has been awarded by poor umpiring . They need to pay these guys a lot more money so we get the best out there , instead of paying the female bureaucrates who never played the game .
The Daicos one wasn’t a throw. Dwayne, why were you saying it was a throw few weeks back when that North guy did it?
The same mob that were carrying on about sean darcy getting that free to the letter of the law are now complaining that people have an issue with multiple missed clear frees, and a clear 50. These cost essendon a game the other week. A pies tax with adjudication is pretty stark at this point considering all the conjecture over the past 18 months with adjudication with the pies. Yes the crowds come, but the integrity of the game is in disrepute skewed black and white.

Old mate played on, so the defenders were entitled to keep playing.
It is not play on until the umpire calls it. The umpire did not call play on after Scott had marked it. The two Collingwood players went 5 metres over the mark. That is 50 metres every time (should be).
Great comeback from Collingwood and North shouldn't have sacrificed such a big Lead.....
BUT UMPIRES PLEASE!!!!! that was a 50 meter penalty, the ball was touched by the North defender and the Collingwood Throws where easily identifiable! Disgraceful umpiring yet again.

After the Game - Whimp Whimp
