    I switched to a hinge about 2.5 years ago. Searched high and low for good hinge execution videos, particularly for hunting. This video takes the best of all of those other videos I found and puts it all together in one easy to watch place. Well done!!

    I've been struggling with shooting a hinge the past few weeks. One of the most detailed and best videos out there!!

      Glad I could help, hinge releases are a challenge to master. Keep practicing and you’ll find the right technique!

    I didn't know if i was going to be able to replicate the relaxation method, but it worked on the first arrow. The pull against the wall feels the most like shooting a recurve bow and pulling through the clicker, which is somewhat familiar.
    Edit: grammar

    I just switched to a Scott Ascent hinge this summer… I’m still trying to get it dialed in cause the shot still scares me, but I set my release significantly hotter that it came from the shop, so I find relaxing my fingers til the click then using back tension to draw back against it as the best way to get the shot to surprise me, and it’s resulted in my more accurate shots, but I’ll try the other methods since I can freely adjust the click distance and how hot the release is with 2 Allen keys

    Great video, after 12 months of using a hinge method 2 is most consistent and accurate for me.
    Also you are completely right regarding pressure shots, they take a lot longer to go off as your hand is by nature more tense.
    Again great video.

    I have my Fulkrum set fairly cold, apply even pressure across my three fingers and thumb as I draw and then as I come off the thumb peg, I focus entirely on letting my ring finger drive the shot - enough to a point where I mumble "ring ring ring" to keep my mind focused on breaking that surprise shot.
    I've been drinking the shot IQ coolaide and it has helped me quite a bit.

    Great video!
    I found using the Hinge 2.0 with the adjustable click it is so easy to set it to your desire and I like it to click at the moment I anchor and then use the grip it and rip it method. 😂
    When under pressure that’s what will take place for me anyway.

      Hey Jordan -
      The Bow Only Outdoors bow build master class has been a complete game-changer for me! Before taking the course, I struggled with consistency and really lacked confidence in my shot. This class not only taught me the technical aspects of building and tuning my own bow, but it also gave me a deeper understanding of how to optimize my setup for better performance.
      The step-by-step instruction was clear, detailed, and easy to follow. After completing the course, my accuracy and consistency have improved dramatically.
      In my opinion, this course is a must for anyone looking to elevate their archery game and develop a true mastery of their equipment. I can’t recommend it and all the Bow Only Outdoors content enough.

      @ryanmink6814 excellent thank you for that info seems like a really worthwhile course, I've been working on my own bow for about a yr now I can completely strip it down and build it back up shooting bullet holes but alot of frustration over the past yr trial and error lol, this would've been invaluable to me and probably still is as I understand more now I rekon I could get more very useful information and be able to apply it better.

    Regardless of release, I anchor under my chin. The reason for this is because it aligns everything and the release is flat in your hand. Typically when you use a release you put it against your cheek. When doing this your release and string are out of alignment with the bow. When you anchor beneath your chin everything is in alignment from the tip of the arrow to your release. It basically eliminates left-right axis play and increases accuracy dramatically. It's also a very solid anchor point that is easily repeated. Give it a shot.

    • @vaazig
      @vaazig 2 місяці тому +1

      I can't picture that in my head. I've shot a recurve bow with a trigger release to "debug" my shooting and eliminate the release variable from the equation.
      How do you hold it?

    • @teresamoon9022
      @teresamoon9022 Місяць тому +1

      I've done this too with my 35 and 36 ATA bows, 27.5 DL for many years, and could never get string to my nose for better reference to keep my head from moving during shot. So, I will be trying moving anchor further up my face to see if it helps with consistency.

      @@vaazigfor me the knuckles closest to my palm are right at the edge of my chin. It could be different for different people based on your draw length. But having it underneath your chin allows you to align everything. Plus because your chin is solid it gives you a solid anchor point which means repeatable shots. Instead of your elbow pointing straight back it should be out to the side with your hand right up against your throat. The first thing you'll notice is that your hand is in alignment with the string, arrow, and the bow itself.
