Since your at the desk in front of your computer so much which creates this forward posture of your neck and head, sleeping WITHOUT a pillow would probably be best. It helps straighten out your spine again otherwise you stay in the same position you had at your desk.
I had the exact same experience with my neck in my 30s. In fact, it went out several times during that period of my life. Oddly though, since I got into my 40s and 50s my neck is fine. It's never troubled me again, even when using a non-ergonomic chair with my laptop LOL. Literally no lifestyle things have changed for me either. I suspect therefore that youthful strength/energy (sharper, more forceful movements) and youthful hormones had a lot to do with it. Hormones cause so many different issues for women during their childbearing years! I also used to get regular headaches, even before I began taking the pill. Now hardly ever.
