    "The purpose of separation of church and state is to keep forever from these shores the ceaseless strife that has soaked the soil of Europe with blood for centuries."

      Exactly and the Freedom of Religion aspect of the 1st Amendment was written with that separation of church and state in mind. The government can't establish a national religion or prohibit exercise of any faith (even exercise of no faith), and because no one religion can be given national recognition as the United State's religion, no authoritative figure in any religion has any power over government officials by threats related to faith & religion. It subtly keeps our great nation safe from circular style power struggles that wreaked havoc over Europe (e.g. the circular power struggle between Emperor Charlemagne and the Pope in the Investiture Controversy).

      “I don't view abortion as a choice and a right I think it's always a tragedy" stated Biden, and voted in favor of HR 1122 Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act of 1997, which criminalized partial-birth abortions except where necessary to save the life of the mother. The legislation passed, but President Clinton vetoed it in October 1997.
      Again in 2007 Joe Biden stated he still opposed funding and policy in support of abortion.

    In the 1960s Swedish women went to Poland to have an abortion, since it was illegal in Sweden. Few women could afford that so most women tried illegal abortions with risk for their own lives. Now, in the 2020s Polish women, who can afford it, go to Sweden to have an abortion since Poland became conservative = letting the church into politics.

    • @paulaitix77
      @paulaitix77 Місяць тому

      FUN FACT: Roe v wade was not about women's rights, it was about DOCTOR'S RIGHTS to perform abortion. Even R B Ginsberg stated the previous decision was unconstitutional, creates divisiveness, and should be corrected! “Roe isn’t really about the woman’s choice, is it?” Ginsburg said. “It’s about the doctor’s freedom to practice…it wasn’t woman-centered, it was physician-centered.”
      Ginsburg actually didn’t think Roe was the best case for establishing abortion rights. She would have preferred a case she worked on as a lawyer for the American Civil Liberties Union in the early 1970s.
      Ginsburg, who died in 2020, criticized the 7-to-2 decision both before and after she joined the high court. She argued that it would have been better to take a more incremental approach to legalizing abortion, rather than the nationwide ruling in Roe that invalidated dozens of state antiabortion laws. She suggested a ruling protecting abortion rights would have been more durable if it had been based on the Equal Protection Clause of the Constitution - in other words, if it had focused on gender equality rather than the right to privacy that the justices highlighted.
      “Roe v. Wade, in contrast, invited no dialogue with legislators. Instead, it seemed entirely to remove the ball from the legislators’ court. In 1973, when Roe v. Wade was issued, abortion law was in a state of change across the nation. As the Supreme Court itself noted, there was a marked trend in state legislatures ‘toward liberalization of abortion statutes.’ ”

    • @alexwyatt2911
      @alexwyatt2911 Місяць тому

      @@paulaitix77 Justice Ginsburg _never_ stated or even implied that Roe v. Wade was unconstitutional. She was a fierce defender of the SCOTUS ruling and understood it to be essential to achieving gender equality.
      Like many other legal minds, RBG analyzed the ruling for Roe v. Wade; it’s much like sports commentators reviewing game footage and speculating about alternate plays and outcomes. She discussed her ideal case for affirming the unenumerated constitutional right of abortion access.
      It’s unsurprising that Justice Ginsburg believed that the Equal Protection Clause was the ideal legal argument about the constitutional protections for abortion access. She built her legal career with gender discrimination cases that she (successfully) argued violated the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment.
      That’s one of the many reasons that it was so reprehensible that Justice Alito dismissed this legal concept in a couple of vague sentences in the majority opinion for Dobbs v. Jackson. Justice Ginsburg wrote essays and speeches addressing this subject matter and Alito essentially rolled his eyes at it.
      Do not put words in Justice Ginsburg’s mouth. Do not insult her memory and her legacy. And do not insult our intelligence with your specious assertions and fallacious reasoning.

    A signature on a petition to get an initiative placed on the ballot is not the same as voting in our elections. I understand the state rep's point about the significance of getting initiatives on the ballot, it's a major first step granted, but it has to be understood that a lot of individuals see signing their name to a ballot petition the same as voting in an election, and will stop there. Both are democratic actions, but both are needed, not just one of those.

      The actual point is that SCOTUS "directly" enabled the states to do that, "indirectly" enabled by Tramp's and the unanimous Republicans-approved appointments. Those Justices were appointed not for their required jurisprudence, but their shown biases which offends the separation of church and state. Just as Tramp ignores the Constitution (presuming he even knows its actual content), those five Justices repeatedly ignore legal precedent, having that same irrational wrongful arrogance that they inherently know better (as if the royalty which America banished). A matter is a "federal issue" when it requires a required minimum standard for all citizens' health. The Roe v Wade SCOTUS, and all interim SCOTUS recognized this basic "right", which is why varying state laws were ended. We are going backwards, not progressively forward. Convict Tramp, Impeach those Justices (Thomas first), then end the Electoral College. We agree, must we await for student protests to again voice and demand those needed humane changes? Vote Blue, then later ask your Congressperson to commence the necessary impeachments and Constitutional amendment. America is US.

We are to live as an example, not dictating to others, that has nothing to do with our faith. But again, what more do we expect from the Gentiles, in these their *Last Days.*

      Simplistically, a matter becomes a "federal issue" when a consistent minimum standard is required to protect all citizens' "rights" (i.e. "life & liberties", e.g. health). Roe v Wade had no issue with this "federal issue" requiring their necessary priority federal jurisdiction over the states, and ending otherwise resulting varying state laws which hadn't and wouldn't protect a citizen's basic "rights". Roe v Wade provided that result, now backwards again to allowing varying state laws and rights violations until rights and reason return, after Tramp's criminal (offenses against the public) manipulations are reversed and removed. Vote Blue, Impeach those Justices (Thomas first) and end the Electoral College colonial voting system by a Constitutional amendment. America is US.

      No one listen to this user. Justices Ginsburg *never* stated that Roe v. Wade was unconstitutional. She was a fierce defender of the SCOTUS ruling which is why the Republican appointed justices never even attempted to overturn it while RBG was on the bench. The moment she died, those vultures were scrambling to take up a case that they could manipulate into overturning the legal precedent in violation of stare decisis.

    What we are seeing is democracy and action. The Robert’s Court realized that there was no constitutional mention of the word abortion or aborted procedures so they struck down the 50 year year-old Roe decision. The beauty about this is now that the states have the opportunities to enact their own legislation. We are saying democracy and action. Some states such as California will act very progressive aboard procedures and other states will act very draconian, but this is going to be up to the individual states and we will not have a, ‘one size fits all federal mandate.’

    • @budman4224
      @budman4224 Місяць тому +7

      In Roe v Wade, SCOTUS determined that the issue fell under our inherent right to privacy. Every other decision between a person and their doctor is, by law, private and confidential. How would you feel about the government having the right to refuse a procedure you need or want to have?

    • @t.r.campbell6585
      @t.r.campbell6585 Місяць тому

      @@budman4224. I am well aware of the thinking of the Supreme Court decision when they crafted Roe. I found this most interesting because if you read the constitution, there is no mention of a, Right to Privacy. Privacy is never an issue between a patient and doctor. Perhaps the court should use privacy to outlaw all other types of government involvement with its citizens. Of course, we will never see that happen. The bottom line is that there is no mention of abortion or aborted procedure in the constitution nor is there any mention of the right to privacy.
      What the Roberts cord did is provide an opportunity for democracy to prevail rather than a, ‘ one size fits all federal mandate.’ Now the states can decide individually on how they will treat this issue. What we see is democracy in action. Thanks for reading my post and thanks for your comment.

      @@budman4224. You are very correct, and this was a huge stretch in the imagination of the Supreme Court when they made the Roe decision. The interesting thing is that there was no mention of abortion or abortive procedures in the constitution door is there any specific mention of the, privacy. The fourth amendment protects individuals from unreasonable, searches and seizures by the government, but there is no specific right to privacy. Thank you for reading my post and thank you for your response and your concern over the constitution protections.
