Never played Metal Slug but i absolutely love to watch it. EVERYTHING in this game is 100% eye candy - gorgeous backgrounds, units, ships, trains, attention to detail is INSANE.
Back when I was a kid, I didn't realize the first mission was located in my country! 😂 It's in Siem Reap, Cambodia. I just remembered recently about the first mission and the first Bayon statue, I had to make sure if it's true and yep, Angkor Wat was there too.
Funny that at least at first consoles and console ports was advertised as way to SAVE money spent on arcade machines. So buying game was way to play cheap. Not today, however.
I don't care about the ultra hd graphics neither 1000000 fps, when a game is really good, there's no space for pathetic thoughts... Metal slug is a real classic.

I was a champion of this game, I could finish the game with one coin and sometimes without dieing! I learnt a trick that work for desperate situation when you drive the tank: jumping out from it gives you few seconds of invulnerability so you go through difficult points, but when you jump inside the tank it has not invulnerability. This player commit too much errors! When you have tank and prisoner give you bombs, jump out (invulnerability) and take bombs, not missiles, than with tank you can throw tens of bombs in few seconds to destroy bosses (accumulate bombs during legels without using them). Another trick is to illude bosses going right left and waiting them shot in that direction. There are a lot of points in levels to shot that hide bonus prisoners you have to know them!

I put a lot of quarters in the machine for this one at the arcade. Arcades were a lot of fun. Home gaming consoles killed that though.

I used to play this game in the mid 2000s at a gaming parlour. We used to insert coins in the machine and play this game a lot.
I was a champion of this game, I could finish the game with one coin and sometimes without dieing! I learnt a trick that work for desperate situation when you drive the tank: jumping out from it gives you few seconds of invulnerability so you go through difficult points, but when you jump inside the tank it has not invulnerability. This player commit too much errors!
